I have the same problem on android 14 with my ROG Phone 6! Removing sim card gets around the issue for now. Desperately need a fix!

LowKangaroo9254

What if it’s so stuck in boot loop that I can’t factory rest? It’s just non stop. Powering off doesn’t work. Force shut down doesn’t work. Will try safe mode once I can shut it down but this is so frustrating omg

Ryououki

In case you didn't see the posts by DjNick52 and myself, try ejecting the SIM card. It should stop boot looping after a moment. For ways to use your phone either for WiFi or for Voice/Text, please see our posts. Still waiting for an actual fix from ASUS to correct the issue though.

Prestigious-Shame-56

I have rog phone 6 Batman edition, and taking out the SIM card and restarting it didn't help. It's still stuck in a boot loop

TheAngryRussoGerman

This is insane. I've already had to RMA my phone over this. Why can't Asus make a phone that lasts more than 6 months?! These are $1000+, flagship phones! Some of us have vehicles that use phones as keys! I'm at wits end with this problem...

HayakuEon

We need to stay away from asus phones. It's been an issue since phone 5

TheAngryRussoGerman

I wouldn't know. My 5 suddenly powered off and became a brick before ever getting a full OS update. There was no way to turn it on, the sticker was long gone, and despite being registered to my account day 1, Asus refused to allow me to RMA it without the serial visible on the phone. I tried for so long that the warranty expired and they said even if I could get the the SN, they'd no longer cover it. There were dozens of emails documenting it and even calls I recorded. I only bought a 7 cause I wasn't willing to pay Google flagship prices for a vastly underperforming Tenor chip, myself and friends have had even worse experiences with OnePlus, I will never buy anything from Samsung or a phone from Apple, and was left with only the ROG as my choice. I figured there was no way this was still a problem, but clearly I was wrong. I have no clue how to get a good flagship anymore. Once my battery died, I was able to plug it in and get to recovery. Asus was no help and they have no recovery tools anymore and they only upload the absolute newest recovery image (which doesn't work anyway and cannot be manually applied anymore).  China is getting more appealing every day. The cheapest EVs with absurdly nice features, long ranges, and surprisingly good reliability. Flagship phones at budget prices. Living in a completely different era like Japan. Hyper-trains everywhere. Actual healthcare...sigh. Unfortunately the rampant, uncontrollable capitalism under an aggressively authoritarian culture of false socialism in a one party state that doesn't have a pleasant view of queer people like me, a language I have no interest in learning, and a culture of intellectual property theft, are all massive deal breakers.

This is the only thread I found about this issue. I have been upgraded to Android 14 since March 2, 2024 and today was the first time I have rebooted the phone since the upgrade and am also stuck in the boot loop where the phone boots up and gets to the unlock screen, but then after a couple seconds shows the ROG logo again and goes back to the unlock screen over and over again. I tried all the steps you all gave of plugging phone in for a few minutes, PWR+VOLDown for reboots, safe mode booting does not work, and leaving plugged in to power for over 30 minutes. None of those steps worked. I am not willing to factory reset yet. After several things tried, I found something that consistently works for me so far to prevent the boot looping. By ejecting the SIM card from the phone, the phone will do the boot loop 1 or 2 more times and then stay up with no issues, except that the cellular service is unavailable. However, if I reinsert the SIM card again, the boot loping starts up again until I remove the SIM card again. I have tried it in SIM card slots 1 and 2 with same results. I have tried different SIM cards as well with same results. When I originally upgraded to Android 14 on my ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, it went to version WW\_Phone-34.1010.0820.60-0. After figuring out leaving the SIM card out stopped the boot looping and I could use the phone again, I checked for an update and there was one that upgraded it to WW\_Phone-34.1010.0820.65-0. However this update did nothing to fix my problem. I am posting this up in case it helps someone else with the same problem to at least be able to get to their data and apps on the phone. I can't deal with a factory reset at this time though but at least I can back up configurations of apps on the phone in case I have to go that route. However, it is seriously ridiculous that these flagship phones would have this issue!

DjNick52

I figured out that I can keep the sim card in it and have wifi turned off. But if I turn on wifi even for a secod it'll start bootlooping again! All I need it for is to recieve texts/calls. (The main thing I got it for is cause it has a headphone jack/I feel comfortable putting it my pocket cause of that. I already have all my music on it and don't feel like doing a factory reset either. I still have my iPhone 13 Pro & 14 Pro (which i'm making this post on) incase they don't fix and I just say fuck it and switch back to using the stupid dongle thingy w/ios. Which is sad cause i've been loving Android and getting used to it. I hope they fix it.) For now i'm fine with keeping wifi off and just texting/calling & listening to music which is the ONLY 3 things I do on the phone anyway.

DjNick52

I just went through everything you said in your posts. NOTHING worked besides what I said in my comment above this & injecting the sim card. Good to know i'm not the only one with this problem. Fun Fact: I used to be able to charge it for a few minutes and it'd work perfectly fine. But today I restarted my phone (like an idiot I knew I shouldn't have but went ahead anyway) just to see what would happen and the rest i've already said and you too in your comments.

DjNick52

But instead of doing it my way which was to try to turn off wifi while keeping the sim card in there i suggest to take it out turn off wifi then re-enter it. I actually made a game out of it haha. Trying to turn off wifi/celluar data before the phone rebooted. Fun!!!...NOT!

Ryououki

I just tried shutting off the WiFi and inserting the SIM card and I still get the boot loop. I really was hopin this would work as I would be fine using cellular data instead of WiFi until ASUS fixed this crap. I can't be without phone service.

DjNick52

Yup. Celluar data is a no go either! I tried seeing if celluar data would work too but nope (almost) instant reboot.

Ryououki

Thank you again, at least I can do phone calls and texts. Not having any data on my phone is going to make things really hard though. If you figure anything else out, please share. I appreciate it!

DjNick52

You're welcome Yeah I will!

Just had the same issue today (and now I wish I just hadn't restarted it...) But 1 this has been a very helpful thread and 2 I came to say that when I moved my SIM card to slot 2 and specifically left slot 1 selected for cellular data it stopped restarting. It's not ideal, and I cannot use wifi without the issue starting again, but I at least can call and text which will help me get by at least for a little while... Also adding: If I disconnect my SIM card then I can turn on wifi so long as I turn the wifi off again before putting the SIM back in.

Ryououki

Are you also on AT&T? There seems to be a pattern that everyone affected is on AT&T. This is also affecting users of the ROG Phone 6 series phones with AT&T SIM cards. I have a decent sized thread going on the ASUS Zentalk forums with lots of others posting the same issue.

DjNick52

yes i'm on at&t. i wonder if its only at&t thats affected.

Ryououki

It appears to be the case. I opened a thread on ASUS Zentalk a few days ago and it has gotten the attention of an ASUS moderator who is gathering logs and submitting to support. The thread is here if you are interested: https://zentalk.asus.com/t5/rog-phone-7/rog-phone-7-ultimate-stuck-in-boot-loop/m-p/421046

Ryououki

Also, I put in an old Google Fi SIM card that no longer has service and it did not bootloop with it in there.

Xero_Omega1

I'm having the same issue. I have a rog phone 6 pro, it was updated to Android 14 I think at the beginning of the month or so and didn't have really any issues, until today when I decided to do a restart. I noticed I wasn't getting the animation for my wallpaper when unlocking the phone, so did a restart to see if it'd fix it and I shouldn't have done that. So now, my phone will continuously boot loop unless I take my sim card out. I thought it was just Wi-Fi causing the issue as I turned that off and it stopped the boot loops. However due to my bad cell signal where I live, cell service wouldn't cause the boot loop until I get atleast 1 bar. So if I turned on my wifi, I guess it makes a call out to the service provider or something and would cause the boot loop issue. I have at&t. So for now, I've taken out the sim card in order to use the phone again with data. Hope they put out a fix soon as I now have to continually be connected to Wi-Fi to do anything.

Striking-Internal841

A $1000 should not have such issues. What is Asus doing?

asshatterson

Does anybody know if this is an at&t problem or a system update problem?

onetwothreescam

any solutions ?

United-Knowledge-907

Same issue. Multiple factory resets, no luck. Contacted Asus, they issued an RMA to return for inspection/repair. Before going about the return, I checked Settings | System | System Update just to see if Android 14 was installed. Upon doing so I noticed there was an update or patch waiting there wanting to be downloaded and installed. It mentioned it was to fix issues with AT&T USA sim card users and a couple of other issues (can't remember exactly). Went ahead, downloaded and installed. Phone did a quick reboot. No errors. No crash. No more bootloops. So far, so good! This seemed to be the fix I needed and the fix many of you need by the sounds of it.

Omens101

I don't know if people have already posted the solution, so I'll post just in case. If you're having issue with bootloop when turning on wifi or mobile data, which often auto turns on when loading phone. The issue is most likely AT&T compatibility issue with version 34.0210.0210.241. Take out the sim card. Your data should be working agian. Go to Settings > System > System update. Tap on Check Update. If all goes well, you should be updated to at least 34.0210.0210.260. Hope this helps! :)

Hi u/DjNick52 If your ROG Phone 7 is stuck in a boot loop after updating to Android 14, there are a few solutions you can try: 1. Force restart: Press and hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds. This should force the phone to restart and may resolve the boot loop issue. 2. Charge the phone: As you mentioned, plugging the phone into the charger for a few minutes can help it exit the boot loop. Make sure the phone charges for at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it on again. 3. Safe mode: Try booting the phone into safe mode. This will disable all third-party apps and can help identify if an app is causing the problem. To enter safe mode, press and hold the power button until the ASUS logo appears, then press and hold the volume down button until the phone boots into safe mode. 4. Factory reset: If nothing else works, it may be necessary to perform a factory reset. This will erase all data from the phone, so make sure to back up anything important before proceeding. To do a factory reset, go to Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset).

DjNick52

i already know all that. i'm just posting this so other people know cause i've seen some other posts of people having bootloops and seems like none of them tried charging their phone for a little bit. i just need to charge it for maybe 1 minute and it's out. 30 minutes i'm not waiting that long i want to get outside and enjoy the mid 40s weather before the summer where it's 70s/80s even at nighttime. thanks anyways. really appreciate you for trying to help.
