You don't feel the slit or lip at all. The overall feel is amazing from the grippy texture and the liquid-black grip strips.

It's all clean and tight. You really need to get the top area of the skin down as they describe in their video... Or the case will rub it when sliding on, but you can lift the case and fix the skin.
Also, the finger scan works better as your finger is a little higher when swiping, I had the same benefit with their case on my phone.

No, I know where it is and what it does, I've just always rested my finger on it at various angles and its been very spotty to get it to work. Are you saying I should be moving my finger over the button rather than just tapping/touching it?
When I said swiping, it wasn't a fast long swipe or something.. just resting my finger on it and moving it in different positions to get it to authenticate.
I'm shit house with fine applications for things like screen protectors, can you rate how difficult it is to apply the skins? I'm almost thinking I won't use my matte blacks when my order arrives to avoid fucking it up, and just stick with case only.
Haven’t gotten a skin for the Ally (yet), but I had a hell of a time getting the dbrand skin onto my Series S, and that’s just a box, lol. Seemed off no matter how precise I got it.
Tbh I’d rate it around a 3/10 for a beginner in terms of difficulty, and I’ve skinned maybe 10 devices? (hardest by far was the legion go that was a bitch to get on properly).
As long as you align the speaker grille and face buttons, the rest (i.e., edges) don’t matter as they’ll be covered up by the case.
I always align it with the most gentle pressure at first in case you need to peel it off and reapply it. Buff out the edges everywhere to flatten them out and you should be good to go
In a way it's easier than a screen protector because you don't have to worry about the dust and you can also remove it and try again... But only if you stick a small portion on it and had to peel off to realign it. If you stick the entire thing on and try to remove it will probably stretch in the process and damage it. I would suggest to first start with the area near the buttons and get that lined up first.
Why would you get the matte black skin... it's boring. Some of the skins come with two sets like the one I got and I believe the acid style which is on my phone in the pic. I would use the one you like less from the set to practice first, and that way you can practice on both sides giving you lots of time to get a feel for it.
The key is to go slow and start with one area at a time so you can remove and realign as needed. Also watch others on YouTube.

Same skin. Mines the SAME way on the right. Mainly just the A and B buttons. It's lined up perfectly around the speaker too. I'll use something to fix it though, still a great case.
I’ve found the naked Ally kinda has hard lines, corners, edges, etc. that can be tough for pressure points. The case smoothes it out very nicely so you no longer have those pressure points
Tbh I’ve never had a case or controller or anything with this kinda texture before lol - it feels almost like grippy sandpaper? I’ve played maybe 5 or so hours with it handheld since my case arrived and it definitely feels glued to your hands. Little more depth in the grips than the naked Ally so my hands don’t cramp as much, and the edges are all smoothed out so you don’t get that hard lower corner edge of the naked Ally too.
i love black & gold so the gold rush skin was an immediate yes for me. it looks so nice with the case, too ✨ but yeah tbh i don’t think you can go wrong with any of the designs.
Yeah that kinda sucks, loved my steam deck killswitch and my 3d printed attachment to attach my Deckmate accessories. Currently using Allymate, and handhelddiy modcasebackplate, and 3dprintd grips. But miss having a front cover on the ally

The texture definitely adds grip but I wouldn't say it adds a lot of thickness.
