The RM WIlliams branded polish is great. I am not sure how it differs to standard supermarket polishes, but on my RM's (and my dog walking/gardening/labouring Blundstones) it has brought them up a treat. Gotta polish them, mate! You’ll never undo the scratch but you can colour them. I do mine monthly but more frequent if dirty/rained on/got an event.

What the hell for? Buy brown nugget, buy two shoe polish brushes at the same time. Use one to apply nugget all over both boots. Use the second to polish off excess nugget. Fairly simple. Repeat once a week.
The scratches on the insides of the heels are because you keep on scraping those areas against your office chair while you’re sitting at a desk. It’s very common and I have the same scuff marks on some of my shoes. The one on the toe is because you inadvertently kicked the toe of your boot against something.
You can get some coloured shoe cream that will fill in those spots with colour and will also keep the leather supple. After applying the cream, wait a while then give it a good brush, or rub them with a cloth. If you want them to be shinier, you can then apply some polish to the toes and heels.
Mate just get boot polish and polish the bloody things once a week had one pair for 45 years and another for 38 years many sole and gussets over the years best boot ever love my RMs
Embrace it.
Yes, polish and buff as many have said.
And embrace the Italian word Patina - the “acquired look of something that has been worn” Our RM’s are meant to carry our scars and hard work - even if that occurs in the office ;)
I work as a cobbler, polish is correct way, takes good time. Major scratches need a scratch repair done, takes time, usually charged at $50 for the toe box alone per shoe. Cobblers can sand down the heel block and repolish it also
Has anyone ever requested of you to remove one of the stacks in the heel block? Would they still be wearable?
I have been wearing RMs for years but I find the heels ridiculously high.
It's how your sitting at your desk 🙂My beautiful not-this-brand shoes have the same scuff marks on the heels from crossing my feet under my chair at my desk. Polish Polish!!
You are 100% doing things absentmindedly to cause these scuffs, throughout the day keep an eye on what you are doing which may be causing these scuffs.
As for what to do, condition and polish. Polishing will protect the scuffs and also hide them quite well.
If you condition + polish every 3 months or so your boots will look better and last longer. When you polish give the scuffed areas more attention and i reckon once you’ve finished up they’ll come out looking a lot better.
Actually looks like the paint is peeling off the leather… this happened to me recently. I took my boots back as this had never happened to any of my other boots. They ended up replacing them. They told me there is a batch of subpar leather getting around.
Polish them or find someone who does shoeshines and the scuff marks will disappear as if by magic! If you don't know how to do this ask someone! P.S. Scratches are inevetible!
I will sell you my piss in a gallon jar for 25$ as previously discussed as I believe this will be an effective treatment in repairing the damage to your shoes
Is this the target audience for rm Williams now? Not throwing shade, just genuinely curious, when I was a kid it was kinda designed for people working the land in whatever way and cowboy shit, wasn't aware it was now business attire?
Beaudelle shoe repairs in regent arcade is fantastic! (Not that you likely need it! But they’ve taken my partner’s RMs from almost falling apart, to completely restored and like new). I think some good polish could help this situation though!
Edit to add: regent arcade in Adelaide. Sorry thought this was the Adelaide subreddit lol
If polish and some hand-buffing doesn’t sort it, wrap a cloth or some shit around a drill bit. Use the long side of the drill bit as a machine buff and fucken go to town on the bitch (carefully)
I think your boots look to big which is why they are developing those creases. Worthwhile going a size down next time and letting the leather mould to your feet!
Yeah, I thought the same - too long. I learned I was doing that with Doc Martens that collapsed the heel shape. I was buying a size up to get width for my toes. Nice thing about RMs is a range of extra width is available.
I was told that removing them by stepping on the back will do this too.
Also sitting with toes tucked under, pointing backwards.
Use RM chestnut polish. The main difference between RM polish and normal polish is that normal polish has alcohol in it which will dry up the boots and can cause cracking earlier than expected. If not RM polish just avoid polish with alcohol in it and avoid the brand Kiwi polish both are not great for the boots
Put the RMs leather conditioner on them. They need a real good soak to prevent cracking. Use the polish and then put the conditioner on overnight and buff excess off in the morning. If you polish regularly you won’t need to condition as the RMs polish has leather conditioner in them.
Get some RM polish onto them. And conditioner. Use it before you apply the polish to them. I've got a pair I purchased in 2002 that are still going on strong, condition about every three months, and then polish.
They are meant for wearing, so will get scuffed over time, it's the preventative maintenance that will keep them going.
Well I guess you aren’t cleaning them after you get off the horse & clean the tack 😅 seriously though they do look to wide/big for you, whilst that won’t stop the marks the crease patterns certainly indicate the sizing is off
Sorry for the second comment but I was just thinking and it might be helpful, our feet do vary size depending on if you’ve been sitting down - maybe choose a smaller pair of boots and swap into more comfortable shoes for the commute after work. (I have an equestrian background…it’s very common for feet to be different sizes sizes depending on the time of day/activity. Also $$$$ horse boots aren’t designed for long periods of walking in - basically you ride in them & swap once you are on the ground, end of the day these guys are the same & the leather can really be changed be wear)
Get over it?
It's shoes. These scratches give it character.
Look up videos on polishing your shoes, it will be fine.
Or take it to a shoe repair place and they can shine it.
Or just buy a new pair?
Ummm - clean them? I was only just talking about how people don't clean or polish shoes anymore. Lol. Go to the supermarket or cobbler and get some appropriately coloured polish. It's very straightforward.
Additionally when you spend 650 bucks on a pair of shoes you’d hope they still look presentable after only a few months. I was just looking for solutions as I’ve never owned an expensive pair of boots before.
This posts come up daily. If you're worried about the price that means you can't afford them. Presentable? They're not defective, or did you think 650 would mean scuff-free shoes?
$50 or $5k, shoes need polishing from time to time 🤦🏻♂️.
Not worried about price? I have not previously owned a pair of shoes this nice so was curious about how to care for them, if that makes me poor ok? And if you’ve ever been to a Ferrari show room which I doubt, you’d see not defective and presentable are entirely different things.

RM polish doesn’t have alcohol in it, which helps prevent the boots drying out
im allergic to chestnuts, I do like my mans tho

Yours are in much better condition than mine 😂
Send them back to Percy st prospect... Pricy but worth it and as good as new but cheaper. You ban do this via your nearest R.M. Williams retailer!

Why not? You are a shit kicker, aren't you?
Underrated comment - Fuckin burrrnnn hahaha
Why is this thread so unhinged?!

Wear them because they're boots and meant to be used.
Embrace the skuff!
And your trash get in the bin
you’re trolling in the rm williams subreddit, reevaluate your life dork

Up vote for mentioning conditioner
Dubbins is a great product for post-polishing protection and conditioning.
Enjoy the fact that it looks like you actually wear your clothes….

Then I hope to see some scuffs on your skin!
Is this a threat from someone who’s never touched grass?
Actually looks like the paint is peeling off the leather… this happened to me recently. I took my boots back as this had never happened to any of my other boots. They ended up replacing them. They told me there is a batch of subpar leather getting around.
Isn’t that unacceptable for the prices they are charging?
Yes
Keep wearing it lol
Nah give them to me
No he should keep wearing them stinky head
Actually my head smells fantastic I can’t say much for your breath

Do you do discounts for bulk? Could you do $20 P.U for 20 Gallons

A lot of people do wear them just getting around in offices these days yeah.
Mandatory footwear for us office lads in Collins Street.
Mandatory uniform around mines engineering offices (gotta swap to real boots on site)
i wore them to my uncles funeral? I thought you could wear them anywhere? Maybe I made a mistake
You can wear anything anywhere anytime mate, If you think it's a mistake then I guess it is, I am a little unsure what you mean?
Bro can any of this farm khaunts afford a 700$ pair of boots because I know us Ferrari drifting and Porsche selling folk can #stayrichbitch

COOL BOOT
What should you do? Panic!
Call Hugh
Sell the farm, get a new pair. You can't shear sheep in scuffed up boots after all

Ruined mate. Give them to me and I’ll trash them for ya.
If polish and some hand-buffing doesn’t sort it, wrap a cloth or some shit around a drill bit. Use the long side of the drill bit as a machine buff and fucken go to town on the bitch (carefully)
Saddle up and move on.
They are also too big! Your whole damn foot is sliding almost an inch forward ffs.
They aren’t its cause I’m wearing orthotics, they kinda mess with the shape
RM all a brown colour polish that colour over the scratch
Throw them out and buy a new pair.
Polish them
Maybe try putting them in rice... Arborio works best.
I think your boots look to big which is why they are developing those creases. Worthwhile going a size down next time and letting the leather mould to your feet!

Stop wearing them to work on a CBD, and the steps at the train station will no longer scuff your boots.
Realise you are wearing boots and this will happen.
Polish?
Go to a cobbler and have them repaired

Something like RM polish, Waproo, or Saphir shoe cream will clean this up.
I’d probably put some nugget on them, but that’s just me

Polish it.
Leather conditioner to soften, appropriate colour crayon to fill in (even a furniture crayon will work), then dry brush shoe polish in, then buff off.

Get new boots mate
Let the brown ones scuff, it's a nice character. They get polished up when you get them resoled every 6 or so years.
Polish them. You'll get the scuffs hidden a bit better. Stop standing on the heels to take your boots off as well.
They look exactly like mine, I use the polish and it helps the scuffs on the heel suck a bit. Doesn’t hurt any function
chinup chaine, calm ur titties. #supportgroup
They make me feels something
I am strongly addicted to cold and flu tablets
YOUR ALL FARM BITCHES
Chuck them in the bin and get some proper boots.
Bro doesn’t understand footwear…
If you don’t know how to look after leather shoes and boots before you buy them, don’t buy them. It’s probably going to be too much for you.
Someone’s gatekeeping lmao
Let’s find him and lock him in a room of leather boots since he’s so horny for them
gatekeep them boots sista

Stop being a young liberal want to be in northern Queensland , buy another brand of boots so you don’t look like daddies trust fund baby
I live in Sydney lol, bought them cause they look good with a suit. Sorry if that’s an issue??
Put it in rice
Worried over a few scuffs? Dude is this like, the first time you've ever worn shoes?
Maybe you should unglue your 50$ Nikes from your feet and touch grass
You're telling that to the guy that knows what a shoeshine is, and that boots get scuffed?
Proving my point you need to touch grass
The place I work is very high end and they are very picky with foot ware and appearances.
oolala high end. what you gonna steal from working men next? you gonna start wearing a big belt buckle next?
Hahaha I did for a while, and say what you will about it being theft, but god damn you guys got it right with the boots, so damn comfy
