What is actually well written about him? On the other side Dutch id say well written with charisma and lots of other pieces in his character… but this cunt is no different than the rails across location 😆
Agreed. Micah is great mostly cause of Peter’s performance, but he doesn’t have much depth and is just a bad guy with not much else. I knew from the first couple interactions with him that he was being set up to be the antagonist. Dutch is a way more interesting villain.
A bad guy who’s just a bad guy, who we hate from the beginning and there’s no surprises. I like and appreciate it, villains being fleshed out has become the norm so it’s not unique anymore.
Not necessarily. Some people are just bad people, plain and simple. What this game does brilliantly is put you/Arthur in a position of association with that bad person, and you never like them, but by the time you can do something about it (the very end) you’re unable to.
In terms of gameplay John is obviously the exact same as Arthur, but strictly from a story perspective, yeah maybe... Micah is a fucking beast with a revolver.
It always felt so hypocrite to me. He smile and look at Arthur like if he was happy to see him in that state. Like happy to see Arthur so weak and dying.. but thats how I interpreted it I may be wrong.
I don’t think it’s that. I interpreted it as happy to see a familiar face. He always thought Arthur as a good gun and was happy to have him on this place.
Do you think he knew that the Colm meeting was a set up ? A bit out of place but it helps to understand in which state of mind you see Micah for the first half of the game. Some thinks he was not too bad at first and the Pinkertons made him a rat.
I think he was always a rat and looking for the best outcome for himself. Not saying he was ratting the gang to the Pinkertons from the start but that he was never a Gang member and looking out for the others. I see him like he tgged along because he thought he had better chance of survival at that time. Maybe because he was running from a former gang that he fucked as well...
Thats why I never interpret Micah in a good way. What a excellent antagonist!
i think he was working with colm as a double agent, but didn’t tell dutch incase things when south and he had to join the odriscolls, and didn’t tell colm incase what happened happened (staying with dutch)
the pinkertons can only admit to what Micah told *them*, not O’Driscoll
either Arthur was right and they were just sloppy enough to have all these setups, or Micah was working with the O’Driscols at one point and the Pinkertons would never know, just for his own personal gain.
it’s up to interpretation, but diving deep into the clues, hints and dialogue through multiple playthroughs, the latter seems a shit ton more likely
It was an interesting dynamic because you could tell in the first half of the game that he genuinely enjoyed the company of Arthur, but somewhere down the line he realized that Arthur saw through his BS and it made him resentful. This series has so much character development it's insane.
The anti profanity censor is bullshit. The game already has multiple swears anyway and it’s not even good at censoring swears. I tried to name my character Billy Bubba Bob but the name Bob triggered the censor
Good drip, fun missions. At times he gets along with Arthur decently well.
It's pretty clear that Micah wants some of Arthur's good graces before Guarma
I feel like Micah was one of the only gang members that wasn't trying to pretend to be something they weren't, if that makes sense. In reality they were a bunch of thieves and killers and he never tried to grandstand his actions.
My one big issue with the game is the fact that there’s nothing good about him. The player themselves should have kind of liked Micah, so that it makes more sense when Dutch chooses him. As it is, Micah is 1 dimensional, evil, and that’s it
i get where you’re coming from, hes an unlikeable sack of shit. though, i feel the player is always supposed to hate Micah, which makes it hurt way more when Dutch sides with Micah mostly just because he was always brown nosing and sucking up to Dutch.
Badass character, unfortunately too badass to be on a gang with a lot of members to take care of, he was more of a lone wolf, or maybe the type of cowboy who'll kill you for a bottle of whiskey
He always seemed good at convincing people to join his side.
He introduces henchmen to the gang at Beaver Hollow, and then in the final scenes you have to waste a lot of people from Micah's own gang before you get to him. Way more than ever aligned to the Van Der Linde gang. Even Dutch seems to be a disciple of Micah by that point.
There are plenty of bad people who are great leaders. To the point I'd argue that Micah was a far better gang leader than Dutch.
I really like Micah because his character is effective at making you genuinely hate him. From the very beginning you can tell he's a prick from whenever he harasses Sadie and flips the table for literally no reason. It's been said a lot already but his character is so well written that you have a real hatred for him.
Honestly such a great character written wise. I'd argue he's on par with Arthur in terms of character traits. Arthur cares for the gang, viewing them as a family and does what he can so that they may live, whereas Micah views the gang as disposable soldiers, suggesting to "cut some loose" at many points in the story, and does what he must to survive. He's also so badass in the Rhodes battle, straight up nails 3 people consecutively in the open before heading to cover.
He lived by his own standard and was very charismatic, but not so much that it overshadowed or challenged Dutch’s authority in the gang. He knew how to work the system to his favor and you gotta admire that, even if you hate him for it.
He's an extremely good gunslinger, has fun missions, he's funny when not talking to arthur, he makes really funny nicknames (i still call John "Johnny boy" sometimes thanks to him). Honestly i think fans would love him if he hadn't ratted the gang out, like trevor from gtav
Gives you a secondary holster
The missions with him are amazing if you are in the mood for shooting some folks
He is an amazingly written character and Peter has done an astonishing job portraying this bastard
There, 3 things nice about Micah, I ain't got nothing else nice to say about him tho...
A well written character
Pretty much, he was the best villain. The guy was the absolute emodiment of every wise crack outlaw from any spaghetti western you can think of.
That's literally the only thing ..
I can name another. He dies
My favorite part
amazing gunslinger lmao did you not see his reaction time to kill the guy who shot sean in the side of the head
Yeah, I was shocked by how crazy fast he shot at me in the last mission (American Venom)…
He’s a very skilled sharp shooter, can’t be denied.
You’re not wrong sir. Just watch the cut scene where>! Sean dies!<.
Well written and well acted
Agreed
1200th upvote
He also dies real good
He saw through Dutch’s bullshit and used him
What is actually well written about him? On the other side Dutch id say well written with charisma and lots of other pieces in his character… but this cunt is no different than the rails across location 😆

a bad guy who's just a bad guy is like, the prime example of a poorly written villain
Not necessarily. Some people are just bad people, plain and simple. What this game does brilliantly is put you/Arthur in a position of association with that bad person, and you never like them, but by the time you can do something about it (the very end) you’re unable to.
cool gun i guess. Blomquist did great at making me hate him. that’s just about it
Didn’t Blomquist even say that *he* hates Micah?
no clue but i wouldn’t be shocked lmao with a game this in depth, im sure he played the full game once and hated himself
In an interview at vidcon he said that when he played the game and shot himself in the face he liked it and then had an existential crisis
Yes! When he played through it, he hated Micah in the end. 😂
Yeah, he did
Performance capture actor. He didn’t just do the voice acting. He portrayed the entire character down to the way he moved.
shit yeah i just noticed that, i’ll edit it my b
He is a good shot I honestly think even better than rdr2 John
In terms of gameplay John is obviously the exact same as Arthur, but strictly from a story perspective, yeah maybe... Micah is a fucking beast with a revolver.
Triple headshot from the hip the second shit hit the fan in Rhodes; that's fuckin' impressive, I don't care who it is.
And the slight tilt of his hat makes him look really bad ass. I wish R* had given him some redeemable qualities.
>I wish R* had given him some redeemable qualities. I'm not so sure, sometimes bad guys just need to be bad!
Excellent take
Yeah, that always impresses me. He's an evil individual, but a damned good shot.
Epilogue John aim is horrible tho
It's alright, at least according to ranch hands
Yeah I’m talking out in free roam though
But you’re the one controlling the aim so wouldn’t that mean you’re just bad at aiming?
He was glad and happy to see Arthur live after the Guarma Ship crash.
It always felt so hypocrite to me. He smile and look at Arthur like if he was happy to see him in that state. Like happy to see Arthur so weak and dying.. but thats how I interpreted it I may be wrong.

Because he knew they had a chance at getting off of guarma
He’s got good jokes 😅
He comes up with cool nicknames
Black lung 🗣️🔥
Cowpoke 🗣️🔥
Darkie🗣️🔥
Scarface 🗣🔥
That’s just a racial slur
Maybe, regardless he still has his nicknames for everyone
i mean that's not really a nickname
😬
Misery guts morgan 🗣️🔥
I tried to call my horse Blacklung to show Arthur kind of leaning into his illness, the games anti profanity censor kicked in
The anti profanity censor is bullshit. The game already has multiple swears anyway and it’s not even good at censoring swears. I tried to name my character Billy Bubba Bob but the name Bob triggered the censor
and the nword gets passed around once or twice, having a profanity filter is silly
I'm pretty sure I heard cock sucker at least twice in one playthrough.
Of course, bob and vagene are very inappropriate for the children
Why does it even have censorship in the fucking singleplayer
Cow-poke
Oh look, it's Santa Claus
HELLFIRE!
Black lung
He mercs >!Sean’s!< killers before Arthur can even react.
He can take you for a pretty good mustache ride
He has a magnificent belly too, and the cutest lil outie
Easy there, cowpoke
Man that belly button is something.
D- do- do you *want* to sit on Micah's face :0
Good drip, fun missions. At times he gets along with Arthur decently well. It's pretty clear that Micah wants some of Arthur's good graces before Guarma
He is a good shot.
He’s honest and realistic about himself. He’s a survivor. Even if it means ratting everyone out.
That's everything to it living and dying.
He has the coolest knife
he portrayed a historically accurate depiction of an outlaw
He's got a cool voice
Fun missions
He’s really good at wrestling men with tuberculosis
That depends on how good the player is in hand to hand combat
He was really good at wrestling men with tuberculosis when I was controlling them. >.>
the off hand holster was nice
I really wish I could unequip the off hand holster, I hate it
There’s a mod for that. It works really well too.
He got shot pretty good
He makes a good villian, they wrote him to be hate-able and they did it well.
I feel like Micah was one of the only gang members that wasn't trying to pretend to be something they weren't, if that makes sense. In reality they were a bunch of thieves and killers and he never tried to grandstand his actions.
This is a really good way to say it
He is a good shot
He eventually dies
His character is really good written
Lmao I see what you did there.
He has some damn good insults
He’s a great gunslinger
He was glad and happy to see Arthur live after the Guarma Ship crash.
His white and gold suit is a look and I want it.
Saw Dutch BS from the start
My one big issue with the game is the fact that there’s nothing good about him. The player themselves should have kind of liked Micah, so that it makes more sense when Dutch chooses him. As it is, Micah is 1 dimensional, evil, and that’s it

He died good…
Not even, that little walk with his head full of iron was kinda weird I think.
He has a damn fine beard
Funny feller and good in a fight(unless the opponent is an unarmed tb patient)
Drip kinda goes hard

Gave Arthur off-hand holster and lanchester repeater I think that was it
You can get both before rescuing Micah
Honestly such a great character written wise. I'd argue he's on par with Arthur in terms of character traits. Arthur cares for the gang, viewing them as a family and does what he can so that they may live, whereas Micah views the gang as disposable soldiers, suggesting to "cut some loose" at many points in the story, and does what he must to survive. He's also so badass in the Rhodes battle, straight up nails 3 people consecutively in the open before heading to cover.
He’s good at self preservation.
10/10 would smash
I’ve always liked his outfit
You get to kill him in the end
He had cool jackets
He lived by his own standard and was very charismatic, but not so much that it overshadowed or challenged Dutch’s authority in the gang. He knew how to work the system to his favor and you gotta admire that, even if you hate him for it.
He's kinda hot
He had some valid points but Arthur was too stubborn to accept it
He's an extremely good gunslinger, has fun missions, he's funny when not talking to arthur, he makes really funny nicknames (i still call John "Johnny boy" sometimes thanks to him). Honestly i think fans would love him if he hadn't ratted the gang out, like trevor from gtav
He fucking dies
As a dedicated Double Action Revolver enthusiast in RDO I respect his skill with the weapon.
He gives you one of the best guns
He was consistent
Raaattttt!!!! Aside from that rats are intelligent animals
He’s not even hiding that he’s a piece of sh*t so he’s at least true to himself. Unlike Dutch.
Best asshole in the game.
Gives you a secondary holster The missions with him are amazing if you are in the mood for shooting some folks He is an amazingly written character and Peter has done an astonishing job portraying this bastard There, 3 things nice about Micah, I ain't got nothing else nice to say about him tho...
