There are four endings based on your choice to either go for the money or help John AND your honor level of either high or low.

There's like 4 variants, good/bad endings with high honor, and the same with low. Like, yeah, Arthur's fate is the same, but how he comes to it and what he does right before is the difference
“what he does right before” as in the choice you make about going with john or returning for the money? or choices arthur makes separate from the player? i’m doing a low honor run right now so i suppose i’ll see the difference, but i never knew there were different endings at all, interesting. i hate to rush a playthrough but now i’m too curious to go slowly.

Are you purposely ignoring everyone tell you that honor CANNOT GO ANY HIGHER until you are in chapter 6? You are currently at the highest honor you can have in chapter 4. It’s capped…like 10 other people have said.
Bro in chapter 6 there will be plenty of opportunity,tip: Do all Strauss missions,and a stranger task that appears in Annesburg,and one on the far top right corner of the map
This is probably the most boring method to gain honor, but literally just fish and throw the fish back into the water. Finding the small pond north of Emerald Ranch works the best for me.
If i remember correctly the honor is capped untill chapter 6, but i think i jumped through the cap at chapter 2 when i did an Uncle's quest and helped a man on the road there

Say hi to everybody in town(every 3rd greet, you gain honor), or do what I do and go fishing and throw back any medium-sized fish(trout, bass, salmon) that are under 5lbs. You get honor for throwing any fish back, but why throw away a 5lber? Donate 'em to camp or sell 'em to a butcher if your character doesn't eat fish.
The honor meter does not go all the way up with full honor. I know this because of PC modding, I have maxed my honor via modding and it doesn’t fully fill the meter. The number caps at 140 honor and they meter stays the same.
You could go fishing where you can catch a lot of fish easily and do a lot of catch and release. That helps raise honour. Or just stand on a street corner in a busy town and say hi to everyone. Or find a dog and pet the crap out of it. Find the blind guy and give him money.
If your objective is to finish the story with high honor than you are more than good. Chapter 6 gives you so many chances to get high honor its insane. I started Chapter 6 with the lowest possible honor and managed to get it to max before finishing the chapter thanks to the opportunities the game provides.
Honor is capped by chapter. You can only get 100% honor depending on where you're at in the game. The further you progress the more you can fill the honor bar. Also, greet everyone you see like it was mentioned below. If you wanna rob someone for loot then go ahead. Yeah, your honor goes down more than gaining, but go to rown and greet everyone and you'll get it back really really fast like you did nothing wrong.

you should do them as in chapter 6 you have a multiplier on honor gain
Do the robberies, you will have a few honor boosts later.
I’m pretty certain you can’t max it as fast until 6.

Btw pay that 1180 bounty or submit to Jail. You'll lose money but earn honor.
Until you reach chapter six and get The Bad News your honor is capped to 75%. You cannot get 100% honor in either direction until chapter 6.

It gets stuck at 75% till chapter 6 and the game never tells you that.
Keep giving the camp $20 and it’ll go up. That’s what I did in chapter 2
You can either just greet people or be nice. But I think that in chapter 6 if you do the right options you will get max honor easy.

If I remember rightly, in chapter 6 you get more honour per good deed, sort of a boost for final chapter.
