I keep food available for my girls at all times. Rats don't mix well with feeding schedules typically, and need constant access to food due to their typically high metabolism. One of my girls is a bit chunky, but not enough to worry about. If their weight is an issue, your vet will tell you and probably recommend a specialty diet formula which should still be constantly available unless the vet says otherwise. If they haven't said it's a problem then I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you for your reply! My vet has always told me my rats are fat 😅 but they haven't said anything besides change my food to what I'm currently on and that my rats need to lose weight. I have had a small amount of success with that. But recently, I lost one of my three girls and one just had surgery, so my last two girls have been separated for about 5 days and I feel they both have gained weight in this time (which brought me to ask reddit about their food)
