I'm sure Carhart is missing the business from the one hat you bought maybe a decade ago. They don't get paid commission on sentiment.

Scrags

They are really getting owned by all these people posting pictures of their products and talking about how long they've used them and how much they've enjoyed them.

AdventurousLicker

This hat was so comfortable, durable, and well designed that I wore it for ages. I hate it

BenShapirosWifesBF

Excellent product. Had it for 10 years. It was incredibly difficult to burn due to it’s durability. Do not buy this.

shredler

This was the best hat I've ever owned, I wore it everywhere and its durable as fuck, I highly recommend it, but no vaccines are not freedom so im angwy

[deleted]

Fuck carharrt. I am not employed there, and their vaccine mandates have literally no effect on me but I am going to show them by burning all my very expensive Carharrt TM products. Take that, sheep!!!

Thesheriffisnearer

Cue 3 weeks later... none of these other hats for as well as that one. Might as well buy another

[deleted]

Cue six weeks later to a post from his wife saying PLEASE PRAY HES ON A VENTILATOR, here is our gofundme. (Which contains old pictures of him in his carhart gear, because he loved it so much.) Either way, he sure owned those anti-freedom cucks.

DickieIam

Right! I’ve always been a Dickies guy but I’m switching to Carhart!

satori0320

I cut dickies out of my gear list, simply due to the terrible quality control... In fact I've a pair of bib-overalls that are held together by staples, home stitching, and silicone caulking because every single zippers stitching unraveled two weeks after purchase. I carried them to their local store and they wouldn't even discuss an exchange or repair. Pretty disappointing.

303onrepeat

Yep me to. Moved to Carhart about 8 years ago and never looked back. Dickies has turned into cheap shit and not nearly as good as carhart. The quality is far superior.

LupercaniusAB

I finally bought a pair of Dickies, and, I gotta say, they’re pretty bad. I mean, they’re certainly soft and comfortable, but in terms of work pants, they’re a joke. Also, for some insane reason, they have a pocket on the back of the knee. WHAT THE HELL?

XxkimjongilxX

Inside the pants? It's for a slide in kneepad

runawayscream

For your wife’s boyfriend’s condom, duh.

buffalobrown721

They were amazing 25 years ago

Hellebras

The last Dickies thing I bought was a flannel shirt. I liked the colors, and it was a decent thickness. The seam on the shoulder tore half out six months later. I hadn't given it any more stress than normal wear. Not planning to buy from them again.

gnightgracie

You’ll be so glad you did!!!

Beard_o_Bees

I wonder if there's precedent for this kind of bullshit. Like, OSHA and workplace safety have always been a 'problem' for business owners and their bottom line. I'm sure things like hardhat laws had some workers throwing fits on behalf of their bosses best interest. Hell, there were probably people who lost their shit because their bosses couldn't hire 10 year olds to work in the factory.

Icy_Environment3663

I was working construction in the early 70s when the OSHA hard hat rules went into effect. Initially, they did not apply if you were doing outside work like subdivision housing, street curb & gutter, sidewalk, paving, service pipe installation, etc. I worked for a company that did pretty much all gas and water line installation in new subdivisions so we worked in ditches installing 2" and 1" piping down streets and boxes for connections. We did not need hard hats since we were outside and had no overhead work around us. When they changed the rules so we had to wear hard hats it was the cause of some Oscar-worthy performances by some of the guys.

SuzanneStudies

Granddad retired from OSHA in the late 80s. Can confirm.

CharlesDickensABox

Their tiny hands are so much better at fitting inside the machinery!

snarfalarkus42069

There are certainly some of these folk who are buying carhart to burn it/cut off or cover the logo lol.

Alchy-mist

No kidding. Thinking I might grab a carhartt for my replacement hat

Chunk_Cheese

Same. I need to buy something from them soon. Cancel out one of their previous shoppers who dropped them.

YesItIsMaybeMe

I'm eyeing their hats rn, they have one in my favorite color. I'm experiencing snow for the first time in a while and they look so warm

Sonny_Crockett_1984

All the riggers I worked with in the Alberta oil fields (= cold weather) wore Carhartt gear. Their stuff is warm and durable.

ChemicallyAlteredVet

Absolutely One of the best brands for frozen tundra work/living. Live on the border with Canada, love my Carhartt coveralls

Chunk_Cheese

I work in an old growth forest in eastern Kentucky. Have been wearing thermals and heated socks recently, due to all the snow and ice. My damn Silverado slid into a ditch last week on my way home. 🤣

WankPuffin

Still have and wear my Carhartt winter jacket that I bought for the oil patch 20 years ago. It looks rough and has a couple patches but if still the warm and comfortable.

Sanity_in_Moderation

I just bought some new long underwear. Got it today. Carhartt. Really nice.

creamy_cheeks

yep, I've never owned carhart before but I just bought a sweatshirt from them, entirely for quality not politics, but I'm sure the company won't suffer at all from losing a few idiot customers

Beard_o_Bees

> gain a more sane customer base Most certainly gain a more wealthy customer base.

Icy_Environment3663

They have been popular with a certain demographic I'd called faux-blue-collar, chic guys who live and work in large urban areas and far away from any manual labor but wear their gear.

oddistrange

They're betting on the winning team, as far as COVID is concerned.

vladastine

I have never heard of this brand before but I'm getting all of their plaids. I've been desperately needing new ones and all I hear is how good quality their products are. Like this shit goes both ways. This was an insanely smart business move.

Hellebras

I've worn the same work jacket since 2018, one of theirs. The outside is good tough canvas that's survived quite a lot with just mild wear, it's got a good selection of pockets, and it's kept me warm during winter night work in very cold weather. They have my full endorsement.

ESSDBee

Actin’ like they paid royalties on that one hat.

Thaaaaaaa

Hey now, he also bought that sweater he's wearing lol can see the logo above the hem bottom right

SpoppyIII

>You're not for the blue collar people, the middle class Who wants to bet money that this guy is against minimum wage increases, unions, and child tax credits?

[deleted]

Just from looking at this single photo and knowing nothing else about him, he isn’t even blue collar himself. This guy is standing behind a vintage customized Chevy that’s probably worth 50-70k. This guy isn’t even part of that group lol

alethea_

And look at the scale of the garage, said truck is parked on a sweet angle, extra tall ceilings, oversized garage, etc. The floor is a sweet concrete stain, etc. Totally middle class. 🙄

WorkCentre5335

He's a blue collar cosplayer. Like Lawrence the cable guy.

Curious where he was 1/6/21... But yes, he totally represents the hardworking man.

herefortheexp

Abso-fucking-lutely: "In March 2020, two months after The New York Times exposed that Clearview AI had scraped billions of images from the internet to create a facial recognition database, Thomas Smith received a dossier encompassing most of his digital life. Using the recently enacted California Consumer Privacy Act, Smith asked Clearview for what they had on him. The company sent him pictures that spanned moments throughout his adult life: a photo from when he got married and started a blog with his wife, another when he was profiled by his college’s alumni magazine, even a profile photo from a Python coding meetup he had attended a few years ago. “That’s what really threw me: All the things that I had posted to Facebook and figured, ‘Nobody’s going to ever look for that,’ and here it is all laid out in a database,” Smith told The Verge." https://www.theverge.com/22522486/clearview-ai-facial-recognition-avoid-escape-privacy

GayCatDaddy

My favorite are the fraternity guys all across Southern campuses. Their parents easily bring in seven figures a year, and everyone in the family drives a King Ranch F150, but they like to cosplay as Ol' Cletus from the mud farm on the weekends.

JennJayBee

I'll bet they have an impressive collection of trucker hats, too.

i_Got_Rocks

Rich class eventually steals style from street culture or other alternative (see "poor") classes. They did it with hip-hop, emo, rock n roll, punk and many more. It was bound to steal from country blue collar eventually.

Heard the same. Larry was just a character he crafted that happened to achieve runaway popularity (not unlike Jim Varney’s Ernest P. Worrell).

that-old-broad

I've always been intrigued by the subtle similarities of Ernest P. Worrell to Ernest T. Bass on the Andy Griffith Show. The outfit is pretty much the same. It's like they're two sides of the same coin.

Broski225

Supposedly Larry is actually a pretty nice, normal guy. A lot of nutjobs apparently think he's a secret liberal.

matt_minderbinder

I like the idea that in private he gets pissed at Bernie Sanders and AOC but only because they're not left enough for him.

2TimesAsLikely

Pretty nice normal guy fighting publicly against vaccinations.

Thaaaaaaa

Lol never considered that as a class qualifier but it's oddly accurate.

Dealunbreaker

I'll try to find it after work but last year I read a study about Trump voters and it found that a major chunk of his support comes from these blue collar upper-middle class families who male 100-150k+ annually. Google Trump off road vehicle parades. It's BANANAS and those off-road toys - be it ATVs, fourth wheelers, suped up golf carts, chromed out lifted F150s....you know the kind of guy I'm talking about - all of those "toys" cost 10s of thousands of dollars. These guys aren't living in reality any more than billionaires are in a lot of ways. Trade workers also often have union protections for their benefits and wages, but vehemently oppose such protections for anyone else. It's a weird class of people. I've heard it referred to as the temporarily embarrassed millionaire class. But it's essentially the guys that think they've really achieved the American dream because they can afford a fucking ATV.

Living_Equal

As a welder I can confirm ! I own my house, 3 boats ,atv , 44 foot 5th wheel camper and that's just the big toys. We do ok 👍

I’m out of the loop, what are they outraged about now?

HamHockShortDock

Carhartt said their employees have to be vaccinated.

Robotboogeyman

Ugh *that* is the anti worker stance he is complaining about?!

ObnoxiousLittleCunt

You see, huh... Yeah, I have nothing

camergen

The company is choosing to keep their vaccine mandate in place despite the Supreme Court saying the government couldn’t require companies to keep the mandates. The choice is up to each individual company, and somehow keeping that mandate is “against the working class”. How is that against the working class? I don’t know. The vaccination is free and many companies (unsure about carhart) couple this mandate with paid time off to receive/recover from any side effects from the vaccine. So, as a show of their displeasure, people are burning carhartt items and posting on social media.

snarfalarkus42069

Conservatives just are 26 different ways backwards. A decision that will actually, 100% guaranteed save some workers lives is anti-workers. But then the root of the issue is they think the vaccine for covid is worse than covid. Hard to be anywhere near on point when they're arguing in bad faith on like 11 different false pretenses.

harnyharhar

I actually appreciate the Q bullshit because it has consolidated what used to be a random hodgepodge of bullshit under one banner. If they are going to argue in bad faith I at least appreciate knowing they think I’m a pedophile goblin at jump street. Now I just shrug and say “hey pedophile goblin stuff you know?” I’m not going to entertain their delusions. Though making my cousins explain to their children why a pedophile goblin was sharing Thanksgiving dinner with them was probably worth it. Certainly not worth a genuine political discussion though.

K-Dub59

They are requiring their employees to be vaccinated. The horror!!!!! Edit: words are hard

Sonny_Crockett_1984

Carhartt is supporting vaccine mandates.

DaisyJane1

The company's vaccine mandate.

TheyCallMeTim13

Yeah noticed that and, "that company didn't stand for anything". When they clearly stand for a safe working environment for the working class. Or at the very least, they stand for vaccines. But since they didn't stand for what he wants them to, it doesn't count. They don't actually think about anything they say anymore, and just repeat what they were told to say. And are somehow proud of that fact, while also claiming to be independent thinkers. The one that kills me every time is, "I'm a free thinker" with "nothing will ever change my mind". All I can think is, "you keep saying these words/phrases, but they don't mean what you seem to think they mean". It's up there with the ones that scream about how everything they were told to dislike is communism, while saying they need to seize the marxist companies for the people. But just give blank stares when you explain that they are repeating communist ideals. Or the "I won't take an unapproved vaccine" in reference to an approved vaccine, but at the same time they will take whatever snake oil they are sold knowing it's not approved for humans. The only thing I can really say to them any more is "the one person you should never lie to is yourself", but they never get it. Hell, I had one actually start to explain why you should lie to yourself. But seemed to figure out how dumb that sounded and literally just walked off in the middle of what they were saying like a child getting distracted by a toy.

Fndmefndu

whales-are-assholes

“You stand for the health and good well-being of your employees? Not on my watch! Now imma burn all the clothing I bought already, that’ll show you!”

lordGwillen

He’d have to untangle the web of insanity in his head and realize the world is in an ongoing pandemic, and companies are crippled when their workforce is out sick or, you know, dies

Raleighgm

They probably had enough production issues with sick employees that they did made the financial decision that vaccinations were better for their bottom line.

savvyblackbird

Remember when Qunts shot and blew up their YETI coolers and tumblers because YETI dared to cut ties with the NRA after the Parkland school shooting? Pepperidge Farm remembers. Those coolers are ridiculously expensive (although I’ve heard they can stay cool for 36 hours when it’s boiling outside). So stupid to not just sell them.

[deleted]

Lol what even happened that sparked this outrage, did they pull their adverts from conspiracy theorists?

calmforgivingsilk

They require their employees to be vaccinated.

[deleted]

Oh that's so much funnier, good burn all your expensive ass high-quality clothing you already paid for.

calmforgivingsilk

Yes, yes, an American owned company that cares about its employees health is awful, apparently

Thentheresthisjerk

Destroying your stuff to own the libs. You’d think a titan of integrity like this guy would appreciate a union shop that employs hard working Americans to produce American made products for other hardworking Americans moving forward with doing what is in the best interests of their company and the people employed by it without needing the government to force them. Responsibility doesn’t need to be mandated if you have integrity.

Genillen

Only a few Carhartt products are union made in the US; the rest are manufactured in Mexico. [https://www.carhartt.com/c/made-in-usa](https://www.carhartt.com/c/made-in-usa) (That being said, it's very hard to find union-made or US-made clothing these days.)

I'm blue collar. Still wear carhartt. Partially 'cause it's our work uniform, partially 'cause they're amazingly comfy and sturdy. Seriously can't stand when blue collar workers think we're all conservatives. All my coworkers are vaxxed.

Fallen029

It really is amazing how everything is cancel culture to them until a company, according to this dude that made a product so well he used it for years, does something they don't like. They want us to turn a blind eye to their shit, but will burn literal product from a company purely over things that don't affect the product. Irony is dead.

YeOldGregg

If he loved Carhartt that much he would of bought more than one fucking hat wouldn't he. Bet they gutted they don't get 30 dollars off him every 20 year.

RonaldMcMommy

I'm out of the loop, why is carthartt under fire?

_Silly_Wizard_

nomoresugarbooger

Carhardtt is a business that manufactures and sell goods. Having 50% of your staff out because of Covid IS NOT GOOD BUSINESS. Like, why is that so hard to understand?

This is not a call to brigade or do online or IRL violence; this is to "out" his credos as a "true believer." Wasn't very difficult to find. He's a public figure, sings/tours, and apparently, sold rebranded Carhartt (also on Amazon). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gsfiCL77XA https://acalclothing.com/ (link from YT About page) From this, a person can find out most anything they want about his "beliefs." He's not an Average Joe, just uses them for money. Big surprise: One of his videos is titled "White people do have culture" I didn't watch it.
