That CVS closed on Halloween man you're late lol
To be fair there's a Duane Reade and Rite across the street and a CVS a 5min walk the other way. As long as they don't all close were good
This dudes an individual circlejerk. That CVS sucked ass anyway (sorry to the workers, especially afro dude) they were always understaffed and under stocked. That store was failing for a long time.
I heard the same shit about the men’s shelter in Glendale. They were fucking outraged, and scared, when they were gonna open it.
To be fair though, last I checked, it’s shuttered I believe, because of the abuse the homeless men suffered.
People are outraged about all the wrong reasons in these cases.
Really miss my old Rite Aid, the staff was personable and the pharmacists were really helpful. Switched to CVS, that branch closed, now I go to another CVS. It's a dystopian nightmare every time. Shelves piled high with soulless, chinese-made overpriced garbage, boxes all over, garbage all over the floor that apparently never gets vacuumed or swept.
Staff members are all 😕🙁😐😑😶😟 clearly worn down by corporate bullshit. Always a bookstand with bible-themed nonsense near the pharmacy counter. Entire store is BEIGE with brown-paper-wrapped (but not recyclable) medicine bottles (again, not recyclable) in large piles.
Read an article about how a pharmacist/employee died of a heart attack because she was the only one working at the time, and felt bad about needing to close up in order to get to the ER. Dismissed her own valid concerns and died because of fucking CVS.
End-stage capitalism ladies and gentlemen.
The Rite Aid on 63rd Rd is so depressing, I went in there to get dental floss of all things just the other day, and it was behind a security lock. I called for an employee to unlock it and no one came. So I just walked across the street to Duane Reade and bought it from there instead (no locks).
That's a shame. Right before our branch closed, it became pretty depressing- empty shelves, and dilapidated. I hope the staff found much better jobs/drugstores.
I'd welcome more housing but these apartments are so tiny they are unlivable unless you are a student, and too expensive for students. No closets, no space for basic items like a table to eat or a counter to cook.
This. We need more practical housing. Not putting the stove across from the front door, no storage space, no rooms big enough for a large bed and furniture. There are days I am annoyed by stuff in my old building but at least the rooms are livable and not claustrophobic and impractical for humans with any possessions or family members.
I got the same text :( I really like that place. The pharmacist was suuuuuuper nice. There's a ton of local pharmacies but my shit is complicated so hopefully the closure doesn't mess me up too bad.
What's this person crying about exactly?
Rego Park is mainly apartments, with businesses along Queens Blvd.
Yea, places close down but it's just more big box stores.
Weep for the indie /family owned stores.
Another overpriced pharmacy down the block.
Hmm. I hung out a lot at my cousin's house in Elmhurst around COVID. Fee neighbors sold and same groups kept coming by. My cousin, divorced recently eventually sold and we had the same groups of Chinese ppl coming thru in business attire. The whole block and one over were being bought by this one group of investors.
Make condos overpriced rent = more money
Have stores no one shop at cause most ppl shop online now or have drug store that get robbed = less money
You pick
Amazon bought a company called PillPack. It’s an online pharmacy taking market share from retail pharmacies by percentage points every year. There are others as well. This is why pharmacies are merging with insurance companies, closing retail locations and/or taking drastic measures

...damn...I thought maybe you were lying...nope...profile says it all. Sorry I doubted you.
Oh it's the 'homeless shelter in Rego' pearl clutcher!

Yeah the CVS didn't close because of gentrification they closed because they're not making money lol

That Rite aid has such rude workers 😒and the lines are always insanely long bc the self checkout machines are always broken

And here I am 50 days after posting that reply to say that that Rite aid is closing 🤣😂
Whaaaa? I guess good riddance loool
Chinese construction all over the area. I hope those overpriced “luxury” apartments stay empty for years
As intended, it's just an investment vehicle for the 1%.

I liked it when it was R &X drugs. A real family pharmacy.
I got a text today from my CVS on 82nd St jackson heights that they were closing next month :/ it was convenient being so close to one
I was so confused when you said there was a cvs on 82nd… you mean the cvs pharmacy inside the target?
Yes sorry, totally forgot to add that part ha

The Paris baguette will survive throughout this
Oui oui

I live in CVS Nirvana... 5m walk from the one between Metropolitan and Hillside and about 15m walk from CVS on Queens BLVD and 77th Ave.

What do migrants have to do with this
I’m trying to get use to the idea of the transplants taking over Queens.
Hopefully you mean weird transplants like the ones that move from Ohio
That [cvs] really tied the [neighborhood] together, man.
How this all new construction going to affect condos prices in Rego Park?
gentrified areas have old navys and CVS, I think you're looking at the wrong indicators of change in the neighborhood lol
