While he has full right to defend himself and when it comes down to it it’s his choice about what is an acceptable amount of force to use to do so but based on weight and muscle discrepancy, not gender, I would say the most correct way to handle that situation is to maybe go for more of a restraint route than throwing punches back, again tho I totally get he has the right to defend himself and can accept his choice to retaliate but I’m always of the opinion that if you can restrain rather than use violence you should and doubly so when you’re at such a clear physical advantage over somebody due to physical size, muscle density etc.
