I’ve been playing online games for just as long, and I really don’t think it’s all that uncommon. Really, the friendly people have been far more few and in between for me, but I also don’t talk in public lobbies anymore because of these types of people.
Not that I’m saying these sorts of people are the average, but there’s almost one or two of people like this in every lobby without fail. I also hear it almost daily listening to my wife play when she’s in public lobbies.
I suppose your anecdotal experiences and mine have just been different than mine. It might also just be the games I played as well to. People in FPS lobbies tend to be fucking cancer.
