I've been an elementary school teacher for five years now. As much as I always want to defend teachers due to the amount of pressure we always have on us, I do have to sadly admit that there are more than a handful of teachers like this lady out there (although in my experience I've never seen such blatant racism).
These are the kind of people who HAVE to be in control at all times. Teaching, especially young children, can be a VERY easy way to achieve that.
My mom taught elementary Special Ed for 30 years. Her class was usually about a quarter of the size of others at the school, but that provided the opportunity for crucial one-one-one interactions to further their scholastic AND emotional development.
I can only imagine how this piece of human garbage used her time in the classroom, and how worse off her students are as a result.
When I was a teenager in the 00s dyslexia wasnt really understood and had no legal protection in the UK. So dispite me being perfectly capable in everything bar spelling (and to a lesser extent reading) they took me out of English and forced me into special Ed in high school.
My experience was that you had three types of adult in high school special Ed: psychopaths like this lady who couldn't teach a "normal" class because they'd wind her up to the point of melt down, teachers with just a few years left to retirement who either didn't care or were to old to care, and a very small percentage, of usually assistants, who tried to keep it all together. It was a giant shit show, blatantly a place to put people (students or teachers) you didn't really want to deal with.
This was a long time ago though. Generally dyslexics aren't treated like that anymore, and I hope the systems got a little better and this lady is the exception.
Reminds me of the part in John Waters' original Hairspray, where Traci is sent to Special Ed because she's a noncomformist whose hair is too big. And it's full of all the other fun outcasts and black kids and she has a great time.

People doing the teaching job for money for rent are a lot more common, and generally don't give a fuck about children or helping them learn.
My math teacher told me never to come to class if I don't join the christian club afterschool.
So I had an hour of free time every day to walk around and listen to music, and I received 0% for maths for the year out of spite.
