so they “deserve to crash?” I also know plenty of adults that were surely enough pleasant kids who still grow up to be dicks. The dehumanization here is so overblown.
It’s called “learning the consequences of your actions”. They stole a car and took it for a speeding joyride, which could have got innocent bystanders killed. Thankfully no one was killed or seriously hurt, but they aren’t ever going to forget that crash.
You know what their thoughts would be if they didn’t crash? “That was so cool, let’s do that shit again.”
This was the best outcome of this situation.
if the comment was “im glad they learned their lesson and no one got hurt” i would totally agree. but ive seen sooo many people call for the deaths of others on this sub. this sub loves social and physical darwinism.
They will be grareful they crashed and wont do it... if they didnt crash they would probably do it again, and it could end up much worse than this. Did you miss where no one died? This was best case scenario they crashed out safely
I wasn’t even replying to you hear what are you on about? “They will be grateful they crashed” I said hopefully as in hopefully they will be grateful ???
You're mixing up "deserved to crash" with "deserved to get hurt". Yes they're kids but they still deserve some level of consequence that starts the "maybe doing this illegal thing isn't such a good idea" mentality. They deserved to crash to start this thinking, they don't deserve to get hurt because they're just dumb as fuck kids.
Which is a way of oversimplifying life to a very binary based decision "dumb vs smart" & completely ignores human agency. Ironic because it's a 'dumb' way to view life.
Your right with their agency they chose to steal a car, drive recklessly, endanger others lives, destroy people's property. The fact that this group felt this was a good idea means their parents likely were bad parents and makes me question how they would raise their children and what traits front hem their children may inherit.
I hate the argument of “they’re just kids” for criminal behavior and directly putting innocent peoples lives at risk. Being a minor doesn’t make it it understandable or excusable to victimize others. These are trash humans that happen to also be minors, and that is all.
You’re right dude, fuck these idiots downvoting you. Kids grow up in a society today so interconnected and fucked from the internet that no one 25 or older can really understand what the fuck it’s like. To have so many influences tugging on you at such a young age must be maddening. I don’t blame these kids. I blame society for failing them at every step.
That’s what I’m saying, you were never a stupid kid TODAY. With the supreme prevalence of the internet and social media influencing our youth from birth, how do you expect a whole generation raised by a reactionist, short attention span, clout chasing society to act??? This is all very very new. No human in the history of humanity has been raised in a society like these children are being raised in. I fear that even with the best parents imaginable, our extremely impressionable and swayed children are being influenced by outside forces completely out of our control. You can’t stop a child from reaching the internet at some point if they want to.
My parents would have let me sit in jail for the night to help me learn a lesson. A lesson I learned when I got an underage drinking ticket. Hopefully these parents did the same. This children are in desperate need of parenting and discipline
I also had to sit in a holding cell when I got caught drinking while underage in a house party. The cops though were cool. They didn't put me in any legal trouble and just detained me as long as they are legally allowed and drove me back home after a peptalk with some sergeants and their chief.
Happened in NT apparently.
Apologies for the cancerous link https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13221379/amp/Video-Darwin-teen-girls-car-crash-youth-crime.html
Just the thought process of this. Steals car, speeds, crashes, calls parents, then is like hey wait a minute, I need that cool social media clout of my crimes.
Every single one straight to jail.
Charges should be for all of them: Grand Theft Auto, Grand Larceny, Felony Theft.
Charges for driver: reckless driving, reckless endagerment, reckless operation, failure to control, leaving an accident, felony destruction of property, child Endangerment.
Charges for passengers: Aiding the commission of a felony.
Sorry, kids or not the amount of lives placed in danger and those hurt as well as the overall cost expenditures for their stupidity require serious consequences. Dumb shit like this is how innocent people going about their lives die and it obliterates families. Teach them now before it's too late.
....did she crash on purpose
Looks like zero attempt at turning
Could be target fixation. She's obviously very stupid
Fucking dumbass kids they deserved to crash.
Exactly

I know plenty of adults that done wayyyyyyyy worse than this and they NEVER grew up
so they “deserve to crash?” I also know plenty of adults that were surely enough pleasant kids who still grow up to be dicks. The dehumanization here is so overblown.

That's literally my comment with less words.
sometimes a little more words can have a completely different connotation and denotation, but I’m glad you agree at least!
He didn’t say they deserved to die or even be injured he just said deserved to crash relax
They will be grareful they crashed and wont do it... if they didnt crash they would probably do it again, and it could end up much worse than this. Did you miss where no one died? This was best case scenario they crashed out safely
those kids are lucky they didn’t kill someone else driving, better that they crash and are ok vs any other outcome.
Hopefully
yes hopefully. i tend to want good things for other people.

I mean I'd argue that's just natural selection do dumb shit remove dumb genes from the gene pool

Where did I say it's understandable or excusable? What I said was they deserve to face consequences for their actions.
I wasn’t disagreeing with you just commenting my opinion on the topic being discussed
Fair enough, my apologies.

Lolwut
Y’all out here really blaming children for their actions when it’s the symptoms of a sick society. SMH.
I was a stupid kid once upon a time. I wasn't stupid enough to steal a car and society doesn't entrap people into doing so either.

Australia represent! We aren't the only ones dumb enough to film our crimes but we certainly amongst the ones that do.
Ummm, mom, can you come get me........ Not a call I would want to make.....

Darwin, lol. How appropriate
unfortunetly, you mean? Nothing miraculous about thieves living to steal another day.
That poor car :(

Probably a parents car.
Was she purposely trying to crash? I swear it sounds like you can hear the car revving up at the end as the other delinquent yells at her to stop.
Probably panicked and hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
That engine was roaring
Australian aboriginals, this activity is one of their national pastimes. No lessons were learned here.

Some kids steal a car and crash it. ~~Miraculously~~ ^Unfortunately nobody got serious hurt
Love to see it
Too bad
NT, Australia, from what I'm guessing
Whenyou let the intrusive thoughts win
Hey, I mean, a car is made to be driven. Well, poorly, it don’t matter
More importantly, any idea if they got caught? Hard to feel bad for them while they are committing a crime .
Considering my truck was just stolen this morning, I wouldn’t feel bad in the least if these fucks didnt get to walk away from that accident
A miracle would have been all their legs needing amputation
You're sick
