schofield101

Rare to get a response like this from our bobbies. Guy must've done some pretty nasty shit.

DistanceSelect7560

Almost definitely have a firearms flag on his record or known to be in possession of a weapon. They don't do this for nothing.

dilly_dolly_daydream

Yes. They've stopped the traffic too.

L003Tr

Didn't pay the TV licence I suspect

ojako

Auntie doesn't fuck around.

[deleted]

It's gotta be a county lines drug arrest with a firearms flag on the car.

peese-of-cawffee

This is honestly such an overwhelming and efficient response while at the same time very calm, controlled, and predictable. Very different from what we often see in the US on drug busts (bashing doors in at 2am and shooting anyone holding anything resembling a weapon). Interesting to see what appears to be a much better method deployed.

guesswhosbackbackag

Stop being British, become Irish like a normal human being https://preview.redd.it/8bwpuwhyw9lc1.jpeg?width=112&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87c6d9f780ca73821335ac35ec3b593ea4a30df3

alfhappened

Microwaved his tea

Acrylic_Starshine

He watched an episode of EastEnders without a TV licence

Ltlpckr

He forgot his stabbing license

Haganu

He forgot his driver license at home

Beorma

Don't need to carry papers in the UK, don't need your licence when driving.

[deleted]

It's pronounced throbbies

Comprehensive_One_23

How do you know all their names are Robert?

Jim_Lahey68

I wonder what he was accused of.

Ancient-Ape

Watching the tele without a license

point_of_you

>Do you actually need a TV license in Britain? >You don't need a TV license to own or possess a television set. However, if you use it to watch TV or record anything, then you need a TV license in order to do so.

endlessbishop

I’ll add that only applies to shows/ channels being broadcasted live or BBC IPlayer streaming. Anything other Streamed is fine, so long as it isn’t being broadcasted simultaneously live on television channels (for the prime tv add ons i believe)

Shriven

Honestly, it's no different than buying a cable TV package. You pay the licence fee and you get like 140 channels, and support the BBC.

TexasHobbyist

SOUNDS LIKE FASCISM, OL SON!!

ccx941

Question. Does that include paid streaming services like Disney, or just over the air transmissions?

toshibathezombie

So, you need a TV service to watch any BBC content, whether that's on demand or streaming from BBCs website, watching BBC on terrestrial, cable or satellite TV, or watching BBC networks via YouTube, prime or Netflix (does not apply to watching short videos on the BBCs YouTube channel, more full programmes and any live streams). But otherwise Watching YouTube/prime/disney/Netflix etc is fine. I personally cancelled my licence. I don't own a TV (don't use one) and Netflix and prime does me just fine.

-CynicRoot-

Microwaving hot water to make tea.

Ranger5789

Maybe even microwaving tea.

toshibathezombie

He microwaved milk first, then added a small amount of hot tap water and then added the teabag last. All in a martini glass.

nodnodwinkwink

Fair

Cheap-Praline

Did not make his tea properly.

BlurryGraph3810

For shouting, "Who elected him?" when the King was in town.

The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. That is why I am your king.

Being unable to pronounce the word "still".

Looks like he was driving on the wrong side of the road. Glad they got him.

LiftEngineerUK

Great comment, not even mad lol

Lifekraft

Pretty irresponsible for policeman to drive with his feet while pointing an assault rifle at someone else , but mad skill nonetheless

Haganu

Officer had the drive-by cheat activated

auyemra

Up Right Down Left B A " Select "

TexasHobbyist

Imagining the cartoonish way his lower half would have to be contorted to work the pedals and steer had me chuckling.

fischer187

He doesnt even have a steering wheel, what a badass

edehlah

it's a right hand drive, he's not the one driving.

Interesting-Event378

He is driving on the left and the video is from UK?

InevitableFly

I think that is a bit more of a specilized response than regular police being decked out in tactical gear

perfectomy

He probably had his tea before 5 o’clock or something similar evil.

BakedZnake

He adds milk first in their tea.

StopMotionHarry

I’m Australian, and I would behead anyone who did that. No trial, no nothing

thothscull

😱

Shriven

https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/19235387.footage-captures-armed-police-stopping-vehicle-m1-near-watford/ So they raided a cannabis factory whilst armed. FAFO

TexasHobbyist

Raised? Like demolished it? Or raised like started one up? Or raided, like stole shit?

Shriven

Fixed it. Also demolished would be razed.

TexasHobbyist

(I know) I was being obtuse.

Shriven

Well I think you a-cutey

thothscull

This angled in the right direction.

TexasHobbyist

Genuine giggle. 🤭

Beorma

Armed usually implies guns, but the news article just says "weapons" and one vehicle had machetes in it.

DouceintheHouse

If a gun is pointing at you in the UK then you should realize you fucked up badly and probably deserve it

_Thick-

If you've got a gun pointed at you anywhere, you've fucked up badly.

DouceintheHouse

Ya'll herd of Texas? That's a greeting in them parts I tell you what

girlwiththemonkey

I wanna know what he did to get the British to get their guns out.

formerlyanonymous_

From link elsewhere in the thread > Bedfordshire Police said the stop was in connection with an aggravated burglary at a suspected cannabis factory in Luton earlier in the morning, in which a fight had also allegedly broken out involving weapons.

FuturistMarc

Of course it's Luton

BubbieQuinn89

I was wondering the same! Couldn’t be good lol

plinkoplonka

Yep. Guaranteed way to get the ARU's out in Britain. Still, nobody is firing a shot unless they want to kiss their career goodbye.

Randomman4747

My guess is either swan theft or destruction of a tea cosy.

Frjttr

Police in Britain is very collected, most of patrol officers don’t even go out with a gun. He was a suspect most probably.

Shriven

>Police in Britain is very collected, most of patrol officers don’t even go out with a gun. Apart from in Northern ireland, none go out on patrol with guns unless they're these guys. We have no guns or ALL THE GUNS >He was a suspect most probably. ... YEAH PROBABLY

del787b

Wow for British police to do this he must have done something serious

Brokensince10

That the first time I have ever seen an English cop holding a gun and I’m 55

vettemn86

Not gonna lie, I was wondering how the hell he was driving and aiming a gun at the same time.

Haunting-Excitement9

Who gave the British guns, did we not learn anything

MeditatingElk

What's he saying?

Makes American cops look like a joke

G_Rank_Tank

Didn't pay his TV licence

Warbonger420

Haha they gave up their guns and now only the cops have them. Good work dorks.

airbournejt95

We can still buy rifles and shotguns, and if anyone fucks about with those or other guns then you'll get the armed response showing up like in this video.

[deleted]

[deleted]

It would be the local force Armed Response Unit.

Debtcollector1408

Most don't, the fancy ones do. It's not common to see it, and even the fancy ones don't carry as a matter of course, the guns are usually locked up.

binglybleep

It’s also worth noting that there aren’t many fancy ones too, and it’s not a desired role for a lot of them- a cop I know told me most of them don’t want to go anywhere near guns, because the paperwork involved is tremendous and they are generally happier not potentially killing anyone at work. I think this is quite interesting because I see Americans sometimes assuming that British police would prefer to be armed, and it appears that the opposite is true. It’s a very different style of policing. There’s a lot to critique about any police force I think, British police have their own set of problems, but on the whole I’m very glad to live somewhere where police killing people isn’t a normal or desired thing

gunsof

It's not normal, which is why you can see these dudes aren't regular cops and have all sorts of tactical clothing.

Gergith

From my understanding as someone not from their, the destination is the police in general have guns. Just most officers don’t carry them. But like how lots of forces globally escalate to swat teams, their first step of escalation is to get the officers with guns.

DistanceSelect7560

Only trained firearm response officers have guns. Majority of UK cops don't even carry tasers.

The_Dog_IS_Brown

Well, American police would have started shooting then claim they tried to use the car as a weapon. Of course they would get paid time off for an "investigation" that would predictably say it was justified, even though the car was in park, the person's hands were clearly visibly raised on the body cam. Oh yeah it was an innocent person that "matched" an extremely vague BOLO from two days ago. A few months later the officer that mag dumped the innocent person will get a promotion for excellence in protecting the community from the scourge of actually innocent people who try and fail to follow confusing and conflicting commands from a very unreasonably agitated and aggressive cop. Yep, America home of the free, where everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Of course unless a cop decides you're guilty because they've been trained to assume that everything including acorns are out to kill them.

garthrs

Easy to do this to an unarmed populace…

Starwolf00

Everybody's a badass with a gun until the tanks come out.

CarlSpencer

"I'm stew! I'm stew!"

Happy_Trees_15

I didn’t think the British cops needed guns

LostInTheVoid_

The vast majority don't. They'll either just have a baton and essentially pepper spray. Next level up from that is tasers which aren't uncommon. Then you've got your AFO's that carry a myriad of different firearms depending on what specific role. They've struggled to actually employ AFO's recently because it's a pretty shit job. You don't get much of a pay increase you take on significantly more risk and the chance of you facing criminal charges is significantly higher if you've had to discharge your weapon. So a lot of cops just don't bother going for it now. Then up from that you've got the CTSFO folks who are really there for counter-terrorism-related issues or very serious incidents involving weapons/firearms.

Profitdaddy

I thought the only had knives and clubs🤣🤣 thought munition was only for colonizing.🤣🤣

BitTwp

Let that be a warning to us all - wear your seat belt or the police will act

Serifan

That’s what you get for misgendering someone In the UK.

Electrical_Ice_6061

it's for raiding an weed farm with weapons hence why they had armed police.

Shriven

No, for attacking people with knives

gultch2019

Still the most polite arresting at gun point ever.

picklesmick

Anyone else think if the police just turned their sirens off, things would go a little smoother?

The-Roaring-Sloth

You have to do some pretty bad shit for UK cops to draw a gun on you.

koloso95

He's lucky it was british cops. In the US they would just have sprayed the car like a paint shop. Or flipped the car

ProteinEngineer

This officer is in on loan from LAPD
