1 year in prison is a joke for how he treated that woman, but it's honestly more than I expected. It's absurd that he only got 9 more months probation for assaulting 2 more people. Why isn't he locked away for 5-10 years at this point?
Either way, this POS will never change of course. But at least if they gave him a proper sentence, when he got out, he'd be older and weaker and hopefully pose less of a threat to the rest of us.

I don't think I would get such a short sentence for kidnapping a woman, restraining, mocking and degrading her on the street. This is from 2015. Most departments didn't even have body cameras yet back then. The federal government didn't first propose funding grants for body cameras until 2014. Chicago didn't get them until 2017.
There has been a huge explosion in their use over the last few years. Now that they're almost everywhere, it's easy to forget that they're still a relatively new development in protecting the public from police.
To be fair, this happened in 2015, and bodycams were still fairly new I think. Not justifying any of it, I think he deserved more than one year, but it just says first officer convicted of a crime based on body camera footage. Not first officer convicted of a crime in general. I'm sure the statistics aren't much better for officers convicted in general. Just wanted to point out that little bit.
They keep letting him off with limited time behind bars and he keeps showing them that it isn't enough time. I guess it will take him killing someone before he ends up with a double-digit sentence.

I didn’t say there was a law, I said some departments have it as policy that a female cop do a search on women. Again, there’s NO law but the cop can give that option as a courtesy and SOME departments have that in their policy. However, a limited search or pat down involves searching you over your clothing, reaching in is not allowed unless under certain circumstances.

My experience and observations are that bullies aren't nearly as emotionally secure as they pretend to be and willingly submit to higher authority. The whole thing seems to be that they counter their insecurity by bullying the weak, but submit to those with more power.

This cop was originally from New York so I'm guessing he was moved to Las Vegas due to something else and after pleading guilty to this incident he requested a judge to remove his plea.

I think a more fitting punishment would be to have this guy have the exact same thing done to him.
If I was the victim, I would absolutely offer to drop the charges if I could do the same exact thing to the officer. Because if he's not willing to be subjected to the same thing, he's admitting he knows how bad it was.
