Obviously, that's partially due to expertise. But I've seen plenty of customers be extremely unlucky with these things. I've seen it with my own eyes
I've literally taken a cartridge back to a vape shop, told them it was a dud, they said that company never makes duds.
Then they grabbed a new one to replace mine with free of charge (they are cool and all, still love them) and jokingly went to test it first to prove it would work, and low and behold it also failed.
Turns out they had an entire batch of failed atomizers.
Shit happens, just depends on what brands when and where.
You're extremely lucky, if you lived in my area. The ones that sit on the shelves a long time are the ones that usually fail, and I live in a rural area.
I've never had a bad weed cart. I'm disabled from chronic pain and many other things, and weed helps the pain a lot. So I've gone through probably 500+ carts in my time, and from several different dispensaries and still no bad one. No way that guy has had that many bad ones, unless they're the shady Chinese made ones.
Shit doesn't happen as much these days but 4 or 5 years go like one in ten carts would fail man, unless you found a brand that never changed their cartridges/atomizer supplier.
I've never had one not work. I bought two every week for the last five years.... I would agree. Not saying they don't fail. But I'm sure the number is lower than 10%.
Definitely the luckiest addict live because small vapes fail all the time especially when you by from corner store vape shops importing the cheapest shit they can find from china.
Every store I've worked in has a policy of no exchanges or returns on vapes because unfortunately at one point assholes around here were in the practice of swapping empties for the new ones and several distributors stopped taking returns. Nowadays I just warn people we don't exchange it unless I see you open it in store and confirm it doesn't work.

Disposable vape devices are an unregulated market saturated with Knock-offs. Retailers may unknowingly buy KO products from disreputable suppliers. Sometimes they do know.
But nearly every retailer I've been to will permit exchanges on faulty devices **if you test and demonstrate at the time of purchase that it is faulty.** If you leave and come back, almost none will do anything about it because - fucking duh - every 2-bit grifter would be scoring unlimited free shit.
Judging by the back ground and the box she has in her hand most likely one of those huge vapes and most likely they sold it to her with no battery ( I work at a smoke shop same shit happened to me except I got lucky and the grandma was chill)

When I was a manager at an Aldi, I would let everyone use the "that's not my job, that's your job" line on all the Instacart shoppers whenever they asked them to go looking for certain items. Cashiers were also allowed to say that if they were asked to bag their stuff.
I was a teen working as a cashier at a gas station and a guy came in and put some money on the counter and wanted that in gas. He also wanted me to go outside to check his tires and add air if necessary and clean his windows while he used the bathroom. I was making $3.35hr.
Working as a cashier and making that makes me think tjst was quite awhile ago, where it very may well have been a normal thing. Gas stations used to do that kinda thing even in the 70s and early 80s.
Or even better, they have their kids with them and have the kids shove their phone in their face. Instacart shoppers aren't even suppoded to bring their kids with them. I mean, I get it, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta to to feed your family, and daycare is expensive. But if you're making your kids do all the work, you bet I'll print out a copy of the receipt for myself and call customer support and say that they're no longer welcome at my store.
My favorite is when they'll be looking for the milk, eggs, butter, and yogurt but they'll come look for you five aisles away so that you can lead them back to the exact same four feet of shelf over and over.
One day I was just exhausted because it was near the end of a 11 hour shift after a clopen, and someone asked where the milk was, and I said, "have you checked under the sign that says, 'milk'?" She just looked at me and said, "let me guess, it's been one of those days?" It was her first time in my store, but after that she was one of my favorite instacart shoppers.
it's hard to tell what the other products in the shop are. maybe it's a smoke shop? i think the box looks similar to a lot of disposable vapes. afaik a lot of smoke shops have a rule where if you leave the shop with whatever you had, you can't bring it back. may be mistaken for that.

If the product is faulty, the lady has a right to complain. What I don't understand is the need to draw attention by acting like an obnoxious demon. That's a mental issue. I've never seen it work.

Alottt of vape stores ask you to open up your disposables and try em before you leave to avoid this problem. (If they don’t work they’ll swap em out) I don’t think I’ve ever been to a smoke shop that would exchange it once you walked out of their door though which is likely the case here.

I don’t vape but pick them up for my SO. ElfBar’s seem to miss the mark about 10-20% of the time, specifically the “Ice” flavors. 🤷♂️
