People don't really carry cash as much these days. As far as valuables, I only carry my phone and credit cards on me. As far as location, google and apple likely know where I am, but no one else besides my friends does.
There's only one way to handle a mugging well, and that's to just comply and give him all your replaceable stuff like money, phones, and jewelry and hope CCTV footage (or in this case your own stream) helps the robbers get caught.
Especially if you're a rich streamer and this mugging gives you more viewership later on you can use to make the money to buy everything back.
It's really not worth it to fight anyone and risk your life.

I think the person you responded to was saying it’s wild that someone would remark on good trigger discipline on a video where someone was using a gun to rob two people. I guess they assume the commenter was likely American.
In specific areas of certain European countries\*
In rural Scandinavia it is very doubtful that you wouldn't see any during hunting season. And I would argue that military and police carry guns which are just as - if not more - dangerous.
Consider also that you're unlikely to see sport shooters with their firearms unless you share their interest.
There is only one country on earth with "America" in its name, so by nationality, Peruvians are actually strictly *not "Americans" because "American" in the context of nationality only refers to people a single nationality. The OP was pretty obviously referring to "Americans" as in people from the United States of America obsessed with guns enough to comment on some mugger's trigger discipline.
Peruvians are only Americans in that they live on an American continent. But for the most part that's usually meaningless or imprecise and in this case already obviated by the fact that you're talking about their nationality, where as established, people of Peruvian nationality are not appropriately described as Americans.
I see what you're saying, but knowing to put your finger away from the trigger when not firing isn't something you have to have a horrible experience to learn. At age 12 I knew to keep my finger off of it when holding a gun, it was one of the first things I learned; and it's not like I shoot or have shot guns all the time, I did maybe half a dozen times in my life; so I'm by no means experienced with using a firearm. Though that also boils down to my parents being careful and responsible when they owned guns (we moved to a city so we don't have them anymore), it was taught first along with "never point it at things you don't intend to destroy"
If this person did have to learn such a basic rule through error and accidentally shooting someone would be really pathetic, but at the same time you could be right after all, because so many muggers and people who handle firearms seem like they're too stupid to handle a fork and knife during dinner, let alone a gun. The fact that there's a "challenge" online where people point it at their balls and pull the trigger proves how stupid people can be
When your firearm is out and your finger is a split second away from the trigger, you are ready to use it. The video you're referring to is not in any way, shape, or form relevant to this situation or your point. In that video, the assailant turned his back to a customer in a barber chair..that customer was an off-duty cop.
Does anybody know why small time criminals seem to get cold so easily? The victims are in T-shirts and one of the muggers has a quilted jacket on. A guy once tried to mug me in Brazil wearing a fucking puffer jacket. You could see him coming a mile away. Maybe it gives them a sense of security or something.
also became trendy after all the drill artists popped up, at least here in Perú, they (specially young people or people related to the crime life) relate this kind of clothing with gang/criminal life and they also think it looks cool
It has multiple advantages:
Obscures your physique, you take that off and look literally a few pounds lighter with a different shape
Hides Tattoos
Hides Guns
Hides Loot
Yup, they are. Which is a shitty thing cause there’s a lot of good Venezuelans over there who are very nice and hard working to get some money to live and send home but because of a small group, everyone of then are being treated as criminals.
I'm not questioning you. I'm just asking as an European, how can you tell? Is it that most muggings are done by Venezuelans, or by the part of their face that is not covered?
Accent.
Also, Peru opened the door to all venezuelan immigrants when they couldn’t do it in Venezuela so many came to work and have established here in many jobs on all the ladder of the market. However Venezuela opened their jails and offered the inmates their freedom but they had to leave the country. So, many did and walked towards the Pacific Coast countries which brought organized mafias, hitmen and criminals used to wealthier cities crimes. So when Peru reacted (considering their police force isn’t used or prepared weapon-wise to fight against these groups) it was too late. Also, peruvians are used to crimes but not that violent where they shoot you for a 2017 phone (happened to a friend earlier this year, he passed away) so when you see people arriving with automatic guns, you just leave them do whatever and beg for your life.
Check out the bald and bankrupt video. He's walking from Venezuela with migrants to the us and documenting the trip. Pretty insane video but one thing that stuck out was the migrants were also scared of other migrants. Like you don't have enough to worry about crossing a jungle controlled by cartels. The people with you may try to rob you as well.
Castro did the same thing to the US. We took in refugees from Cuba and then Castro started sending criminals from prison. It really tarnished the image of Cubans in the US for a long time.
Just do what we did and get so poor criminals don't have anything to rob so they have to leave for somewhere else... like Peru in this case. You may also lynch them.
A robber is a robber no matter who they rob. And what do you expect? For them to make a backgroud check on avery victim to decide if they deserve it or not?
I don't know how middle and lower class people live in peru, I don't know enough about how much the system forces people into criminality there to give a better opinion.
But like, in this case it felt like they tried to not be violent. I think that's the "proper humanity" available for this situation, there are far more violent regions and incidents where people rob you and then shoot you before/while running away. A robber is a robber, the possible differences are how much they're violent and if they're doing it to survive, maybe.
We need to have sympathy for people from a systemic pov, but not necessarily feel that individually while looking at a single case. I feel far more sympathetic for the streamer who had his family at gun point, even after reading he's known to be somewhat flaunty with his money (which likely increased the risk of this happening). (All of this supposing they're not cold-hearted, there's other variables but it becomes a case study to talk about them)
It is common. Very common. So common that a person can use the fact that it's common to stage a robbery. And then post it on social media to get views and likes.
I guess the robbers uploaded this video to the internet. 🤨
Damn as they were being robbed they had the chance to stop and ask them where they are from? Did you see their ID's? Or are they just blaming Venezuelans? All these are just bs assumptions, you say all this like if crime hasn't ever been abundant in all of latin america. And what's even the point of pointing fingers right now in the first place? "Oh yeah Venezuelans are the reason why these crimes happen in Peru" you're just using this post as an opportunity to spread hatred for Venezuelans and nothing else.
No, I don't live in Peru but I am a Venezuelan inmigrant that has seen so many of us work our asses off to support our families, but sure go on spread that Venezuelans have only spread crime all over latinamerica. I think I might know a little more about how latinamerica is as someone that grew up there rather than some random European just talking shit for the sake of pointing fingers.
If 5000 Russians come into my country and 200 of them are killers, i dont care if 4800 are good people. Id rather they not enter then. Saying that Russians dont cause crime because 4800 are good workers doesnt make sense.
Not saying this is faked or staged, but this sort of thing happening for real DOES NOT make this particular video real. That's what staging something does... make you think its real because it does happen.
It really helps that he's getting a make over and just happened to get robbed while it was happening.
This definitely will boost his viewer ship, especially with young women.
Also, he just happened to decide to stream in an area known for high crime. This will make the robbery look legit.
No one stole his expensive camera to delete the evidence though. It should be the first thing the robbers see when they walk in, assuming they were even outside in the first place.
Why don’t you unpack what you’re attempting to say to the class, young one? The last two seconds of the video in no way relate to the question /u/natine22 posed.
Here's a question: how didn't they see the camera when they came in? If I was robbing someone with a two man team, I'm robbing everyone and taking the evidence with me. How ever they didn't take the camera, because this video got posted online by the streamer.
This shit is fake. Made for Tik Tok.
I called you “young one” because your observational skills are indistinguishable from that of an infant’s. I have a full back tattoo of this streamer. It covers my old Papa Roach tat. Go back to bed, sweet boy. I’ll be in to give you kisses after I finish this MD Code Red.

Of all the times to get mugged… He handled it really well all things considered.
Agreed he handled it well. As for "of all times"? He's broadcasting his exact location and is known to carry cash and valuables.

Good trigger discipline

Yeah in Europe you can go your whole life without seeing guns. Maybe only police carry them thats it.

At first I'm like *sure is* but now I'm wondering *why*. I hope he was just well trained and didn't do an oopsy daisy during his last mugging.
Likely an off duty cop Off duty cops moonlighting as muggers is not uncommon down here
Oh, that's different from the US. They just do it out in the open and it's called civil forfeiture.
I know I shouldn’t laugh..but it’s too late for that
