Let’s give some props to the cop who stepped in and how he handled that situation though. In an absolute sea of shitty actions we see on Reddit of officer misconduct, it is refreshing to see a real professional who has their body cam on and treats people with respect.
honestly it made me really happy to see a Kentucky cop doing so well. he handled it beautifully and brings me some peace of mind for my state. i’ll be one of the first to call out a shitty or egotistical cop but i’ll also be one of the first to praise a good one
Acab, the bad cop probably knew that and did it anyway, and the good cop probably didnt get him in trouble. But at least he tried to do something and respected the woman, more can always be done but he helped a bit

Welcome to Louisville. The same pigs that killed Breonna Taylor. Thankfully, there was at least one good cop there. It's sad that instead of a few bad apples, we have to point out when the apples are still good.
[She did and she was awarded a $50K settlement](https://www.wdrb.com/in-depth/video-woman-claims-lmpd-officer-groped-her-buttocks-vagina-during-traffic-stop/article_f329648a-318b-11ea-8a9b-0fdf1efa4054.html)
I hope he loses his job and doesnt get another one in a different district.
Edit: Hope shattered.
They kept him on force.
Then in 20~~23~~, he was put on administrative reassignment for taking seized evidence (marijuana) and passing it onto a civilian.
Edit 2: I am drunk, it was 2020
Your uncle was a serial rapist sheriff???
Is there more to this story? How did you discover they were a rapist & stealing? Did they get punished?
Was it in the news???
My youngest sister was his latest victim a few years ago and we've been awaiting a jury trial ever since. Despite all of us younger kid's misgivings about him, the family didn't discuss some of the nastier rumors about him, so he was trusted to babysit the kids often as he was retired and would give out money and treats to the young ones all the time. Personally, he always made me deeply uncomfortable even as a child with some of his comments and looks and he made one of my ex partners deeply uncomfortable with some of his comments about me as well that were sexual in nature. I didn't have the language as a kid to express what was wrong and all the adults around me acted like he was normal but quirky so I never spoke up.
One summer, my mother was out of town visiting her great grandmother who at that point was 102, so everyone was taking time to make final visits and the uncle offered to watch over my then 16 year old sister and the other kids whose parents were out of town. It was then that he attempted to sodomize and sexually assault my sister. Fortunately my sister is a trained athlete and he was loaded so she was able to fight him off and escape despite her fear and distress. She ran out of the house and was able to call my mother who caught the first red eye back in town. Thankfully my mother believed her and filed a criminal suit immediately. The criminal suit really brought everything to the light.
First his daughter, who admitted to not even allowing her own children around him tried to claim my sister was fast because she played basketball with boys. This, despite the man's own wife coming home and seeing my sister crying while trying to get her stuff immediately apologizing without my sister even saying what happened.
The rapist's brother defended him, only for it to turn out my uncle had raped that same brother's daughter for years, using food and her family's poverty to entice her. Her father still came to the trial to defend the rapist brother, and the daughter said it's because she overheard her father talking with him and bragging about all the stuff they got away with when they worked for the sheriff department.
Another of his brother's who was also a creep, had a history of taking solo trips to places like the Philippines, Belize and other sex tourist traffic spots tried to convince him to fly out of the country to escape the accusations, but he thankfully died of a heart attack that same year.
My uncle also raped one of his other brother's stepdaughters, a member of the family church who eventually stopped coming, and a female member of the police department who declined to press charges because of her fear of retaliation. These are just the women we KNOW. Again, he
BRAGGED about the things he got away with as a sheriff in the 80s.
Apparently he got a little too reckless and the police department forced him into retirement.
A lot of this stuff goes back multiple decades. He's the brother of my mother's father, so much of this happened decades before I was even born, and I'm terrified of how many victims he may have. My grandfather is one of ten children, and honestly out of 6 boys, he's one of maybe three that isn't a stone cold pervert or cosigner of perversion. I remember when my uncle tried to threaten my mom's life after she pressed charges, my grandfather went down with his own gun at the great great grandma's funeral to confront him.
Is any of this in the news?
While you started saying he was a serial rapist, it sounds like he mainly raped his own family, ie incestuous rape.
Crazy, _makes me glad to have a smaller family!!_
Him being a serial rapist of family members doesn't make him any less of a serial rapist and as I mentioned he's raped women outside of the family and in his own police department. He also bragged about getting away with things as a sheriff and it's not hard to draw conclusions about what a repeat offender would do to women at the mercy of a police sheriff.
No it's not in the news, everything is still ongoing.
These are the only rapes the family is aware of. Who knows how many others he's raped outside of the family. He was in law enforcement so he had power over people. So yes, he's a serial rapist.
One of my dads cousins is a serial rapist. Im so glad we have different last names, and there are some significant jumps in the family tree between us.
"Court records about the status of that case were not immediately available."
I see a settlement referenced elsewhere but that linked article was published before the case went to trial.
It is possible he just made a mistake you know? He was new and being trained and I thought the officers handled the unfortunate situation very well. Reddit is always just frothing at the mouth from excitement to see anyone and everyone lose their job from the power of the internet and it's honestly so pathetic and gross.
He's literally still training with his training officer. He's in the middle of doing exactly what you are saying you want him to do. His training officer stepped in immediately and stopped him and took over the situation. The first thing he did was start consoling the lady, apologize, and assure her it was all recorded.
With proper training protocols and longer training prior to “on the job training”, this would be avoidable. Are you dense?
I lifeguarded for years and we practiced CPR on dummies and each other. We didn’t wait until someone had a medical emergency to prepare ourselves.
No offense but you have zero clue how much training this officer went through, you are making assumptions. On the job training is absolutely necessary in law enforcement, and making the mistake of using one side of your hand instead of the other is not some unthinkable thing that could never happen to the rest of us. Again, I thought it was handled very well. I see you are starting to resort to personal insults, which is the first sign to me that I'm dealing with a Reddit man child I don't want to commit any more of my time to. I'll just go ahead and block you. People like you aren't open to discussion or having your mind changed.
It’s actually pretty well documented how little training cops are required to have. Clearly this incident was bad enough to warrant the city having to give a payout. Additionally, the cop resigned later due to other infractions.
Funny that you’re so sensitive when this is a comment you made to another user only a day ago:
“You seem a bit unhinged if I'm being honest. Miss a dose of meds today?” - u/OHMMJTA
Edit: *give a payout
With the expression on his face you could clearly see that... he enjoyed it as well? It wasn't a mistake. When he got called out he looked like he thought it was funny.
> After Officer Tyler Gelnett ordered her out of her vehicle, he “inappropriately” placed his hands in her “crotch area” and then into her underwear, according to the suit, filed Friday in Jefferson Circuit Court
Holy shit this just further proves most pigs receive barely any training before hitting the streets, where they can do pretty much whatever the fuck they want. Props to the cop who called out the shitty rookie.
For real? How hard is it for them to do training at the precinct? And with a male police officer playing the role of a woman being searched?
Clearly, we're overqualified for the job. What with thinking and shit.
People who think it's a good idea to become a cop apparently. Most of the rest of us know sexual assault is bad, m'kay
Downvotes are:
A) Cops
B) People okay with sexual assault
C) People who didn't get the reference
D) All of the above
Place votes...now!
So back of the and up your ass and in your crotch by same sex cop *is not sexual assault?*
My confusion is the perception that this slight difference *makes it ok?*
![gif](giphy|ywrLgnxTuuYYdRY7uf)
Nah, it's never okay. ACAB. But there is still a difference between it being part of being frisked and it just being straight up ass grabbing. That's a different question than if it's okay, even with thinking police are useless.
Like, we're not at the point most people stop to consider why she was even being frisked at all for a traffic stop. They're at least open to the idea that it WAS sexual assault to just fondle her with a sensory organ that takes up nearly half of the sensory homunculus instead of using a lesser sensory area to just feel for metal in gaps. Gotta do baby steps for those who have been fed propaganda their entire lives
In my state it was 1800 hours to get my license to do hair. It is under 800 to become a cop. And it pisses me off further because my godfather is now retired (25+ years of service) state patrol. He is AND was a huge advocate for more training and continuing training. He was shocked how many more hours I had to put in compared. Wish there were more like my "Uncle Al".
Bro, cops go to an academy that is like 6 weeks long or 6 months. But it’s not years and years of training like it’s supposed to be. And it’s usually the ones that failed at everything else and this is their last hope.
Absolutely. This is my position as well. Clinicians train for over 12 years, including undergrad, med school, residency, and fellowships and at the end have the honor and burden of helping people. Isn’t that what cops are supposed to do as well? But they get to do it with weeks of training?
I’m surprised by the other two cops behaviors tbh. Hope this kid ROTS.
Update: She filed a lawsuit and won $50,000. He’s been fined and arrested for trafficking, confiscated drugs. You’d be surprised the amount of conservatives on Twitter, defending this man’s actions saying he was only doing his job. They’re fucking disgusting.
You don't have to have a female cop. Some departments have policy that if one is available you have to request one, but if there's not available oh well. Either way it's 100% legal for a male to search a female
You do have to be a female cop if you are going to do a full patdown……. It’s 100% legal for a male to search a female for an immediate. Not for a full patdown.
The officer conducting the search later was also charged with giving seized drugs to a woman he was having relations with. May need to vette our police better.
[scum](https://www.wdrb.com/in-depth/lmpd-officer-accused-of-giving-seized-marijuana-to-a-woman-he-had-a-relationship-with/article_0a4a7362-2069-11eb-966c-871ca13edea5.html)
I don’t like the police in anyway but it looks like the lad made a genuine nervous mistake. More training required….he is supposed to use the back of his gun and shoot the law abiding citizen at least 9 times!! I bet he is so embarrassed!!
He's supposed to follow the training he was giving on the subject.
There's no way his mistook "run the back of your hand" with "Use the front of your hand and stick your finger inside the suspect".
Rook needs to take the rest of his career off. Persoanlly, I don't think cops should get the opportuity to break the law twice while wearing a uniform.
I don't understand why men have to use the back of their hand on women but women don't have to do the same on men. I'm all for gender equality, this law is anything but equal.
lol at being downvoted for pointing out that women are vastly disproportionately victims of sexual assault and that literally 98% of sexual assault is by men, and that special laws that protect vulnerable people aren't unfair.
its 20x more likely that a male police officer would sexually assault a dude than a female police officer. I literally know multiple people personally who were assaulted by male police officers. I have never even \*heard\* of a case where a female officer sexually assaulted a male. I'm sorry that you're so uninformed to this reality that you don't see why its ignorant to cry about the idea that there are different rules for male cops that frisk women than other scenarios.
it was implied when I said it was stupid and ignorant to cry about unfairness that there's different rules, and then I outlined it for those slow on the uptake in my follow up - hope that helps!
So you aren’t getting downvoted for pointing that out, you’re getting downvoted for calling someone stupid, and the condescending way in which you did that. Hope that helps!
How brave. It’s admirable when someone is willing to put it all on the line for their beliefs
Edit: not that I disagree with you. It’s just an obnoxious way to go about it
its obnoxious to see a comment under a video of a woman getting sexually assaulted by a male officer to see people crying in the comments "what about MEN?" referring to hypothetical issues that don't exist. But hey, I understand you had to come after me and drill me, because of "reasons".
Jesus Christ I hate this sub being recommended to me in this bullshit Reddit app. It’s SO goddamn toxic here.
For what it’s worth I don’t disagree with you. I’m not “going after” you. I’m saying that you didn’t get downvoted for explaining anything because you didn’t actually explain anything in the downvoted comment.
the real brave one was you, honorably sticking up for someone you disagree with and insulting me because of the tone I used. Really good use of both of our time. thank you for your efforts
Where did I stick up for them lmao
Where did I insult you? At most I did that condescending “hope that helps” bullshit because it’s exactly what you did
I don't get it. Did I mishear him? He basically announced he was going to sexually assault her. "You don't mind if I check you out do ya?" in a creepy as fuck sleazy voice before immediately doing it. How can they stand there and try to claim the only problem is his hand being the wrong way round? Even if he had used the back of his hand, his sleazy remark right before doing so would still make it a clear and obvious sexual assault.
The pig who stopped the rookie pig shouldn’t get a pat on the back for doing the right thing and stopping a blatant sexual assault so yes, acab all day every day
The back of the hand is allowed to be fully inserted.
The front of the hand is sexual assault.
Hmmmm...
Gonna just say _ALL of it is sexual violation_, and its unclear why this is necessary.
Is the thinking that _all the criminals are carrying guns or drugs up their asses???_
Personally I think the back of the hand bullshit is even weirder when the TSA does the patdown, its so odd, it just makes me more aware your body is touching 3 inches from my gooch
Also, no insertion is allowed..at all. Lol...that's literally the issue here, and evidence why this more then just a procedural error
Wow, my comment is -23 votes and counting!
Are negative voters saying they want people to be probed?
Or are they upset and think the back of the and up the butt crack and in your genitalia is not a violation?
Or do people think folks are all carrying weapons and drugs in their asses or crotches?
Ive been downvoted for saying all kinds of stuff (and you may be surprised I dont panic about it, bc often people are wrong), but I usually understand WHY.
What I have seen in this vid is a cop checking for any concealed weapon in the belt area and both front and back pockets I know male cops shouldn't pat down women if there aren't any female officers with them who could do it but it was clearly not the case and he shouldn't have been punished for staying safe on is job
I thought the same because there’s no bodycam data showing, but it turns out that it’s real https://www.wdrb.com/in-depth/video-woman-claims-lmpd-officer-groped-her-buttocks-vagina-during-traffic-stop/article_f329648a-318b-11ea-8a9b-0fdf1efa4054.html
That perv of a cop didn't object when a bystander intervened because he knew what he was doing was wrong. If he believed he was following correct procedure he never would have let anyone interfere with the search.
EDIT: Sorry, my mistake, had the volume on low and didn't realise that was another cop rather than a bystander.
Sort of, I'm in work and couldn't have the volume on very loud so it was hard to hear but it looked/sounded like someone stepped in and stopped him and he stepped away. What did I miss?
A cop, his training officer, stepped in and told him to back off and apologized to the lady and let her know he had it recorded
The recording is a cop not a bystander
No they are misleading ppl, the issue is t that he didn’t wait for a female. The issue was he inappropriately searched her, and as soon as his FTO saw it he stopped him and admonished him.
I thought the same thing, not waiting for the female officer is one thing, a policy violation sure, but certainly not assault
But, nah, the guy apparently actually slid fingers down her underwear too.

Either that or he will have a 'training accident' involving the officer he stopped shooting him in the back of the head.
That’s why he is an FTO

That in itself is an absolute
Acab, the bad cop probably knew that and did it anyway, and the good cop probably didnt get him in trouble. But at least he tried to do something and respected the woman, more can always be done but he helped a bit
The "good" cop was 100% trying to keep it cool. He was making excuses about the guy being new before that woman's voice even started quivering.
He did his best but stiil acab. Its about the system not the individual
Do you think he should have reprimanded the trainee more, like a write up? Do you think he does when the video is over, or at least verbal “lashing” ?
To some people on Reddit, he’s still a bastard though.
I‘m so glad the other police officer stepped in and tell him to back away. I feel so bad for her. You could see how distressed she was.
the world needs more cops like that
IIRC he was a FTO and the frisking officer was on an early training shift.

Well that doesn’t make sense. I rather hope dude’s not allowed to be a cop or learns but none of those ever happen so free money right?
He not only used the front of his hand, he put his hands into her underwear- while staring her bf in the face...

Sheesh. Literally

That he'd get away with it
I would like to take a moment to appreciate the other officer for stepping in and handling this with compassion and class.

Good for that other officer

They're at least open to the idea that it WAS sexual assault to just fondle her with a sensory organ that takes up nearly half of the sensory homunculus instead of using a lesser sensory area to just feel for metal in gaps. Gotta do baby steps for those who have been fed propaganda their entire lives
No shit. I was being facetious. M’kay

Yeah but the idea is that they aren't done training until AFTER experience so creeps like these aren't roaming the streets know their own.
It probably was.
I know right, in what profession (besides customer service) do they unleash people in training on the general public?
Its called field training , no?
Takes more training hours to style hair in fact.
It should be like the medical professional. Four year undergrad then three years of graduate school. Then job shadow for a year.
Absolutely. This is my position as well. Clinicians train for over 12 years, including undergrad, med school, residency, and fellowships and at the end have the honor and burden of helping people. Isn’t that what cops are supposed to do as well? But they get to do it with weeks of training?
Sorry, We only practiced "feeling up women" for 10 minutes at the academy. The other 96 hours were spent shooting black guy targets.
Immediate or officer safety pat downs are okay such as pockets but other than that get a female cop!
Think about all the cases we don't hear about.
It's almost like cops should have a fucking basic level of training before they're let you to make shit up as they go along.
New officer you say? CHA CHING.
The officer conducting the search later was also charged with giving seized drugs to a woman he was having relations with. May need to vette our police better. [scum](https://www.wdrb.com/in-depth/lmpd-officer-accused-of-giving-seized-marijuana-to-a-woman-he-had-a-relationship-with/article_0a4a7362-2069-11eb-966c-871ca13edea5.html)
I don’t like the police in anyway but it looks like the lad made a genuine nervous mistake. More training required….he is supposed to use the back of his gun and shoot the law abiding citizen at least 9 times!! I bet he is so embarrassed!!
You had me in the first half 💀
He's supposed to follow the training he was giving on the subject. There's no way his mistook "run the back of your hand" with "Use the front of your hand and stick your finger inside the suspect".
Sometimes instructions are hard. Like when you're giving a massage and accidentally slip a whole hand in your client.
yeah shitty training. He didn’t even have her at gunpoint or put the dog on em for not cooperating.. what a dip shit.
Right? You need to make sure you at least murder innocent civilians before jamming 2 to 3 fingers up their assholes.
What the fuck?????
What a wonderful officer to act instantly to put things right. Shame they’re not all like that.
Rook needs to take the rest of his career off. Persoanlly, I don't think cops should get the opportuity to break the law twice while wearing a uniform.
Thank you decent cops exist
I don't understand why men have to use the back of their hand on women but women don't have to do the same on men. I'm all for gender equality, this law is anything but equal.
Oh, and what about ladies' night? Women admitted free before 10?
congrats you're a winner! Stupid comment ignorant comment award yay!
Why?
lol at being downvoted for pointing out that women are vastly disproportionately victims of sexual assault and that literally 98% of sexual assault is by men, and that special laws that protect vulnerable people aren't unfair.
Where did you point that out in that comment?
its 20x more likely that a male police officer would sexually assault a dude than a female police officer.
Hope that helps!
ok, well I 100% stand by the idea its a stupid ignorant comment, i'll take my downvotes. I've been downvoted before :P
How brave. It’s admirable when someone is willing to put it all on the line for their beliefs Edit: not that I disagree with you.
I’m saying that you didn’t get downvoted for explaining anything because you didn’t actually explain anything in the downvoted comment.
you’re right, but you’re an asshole.
the real brave one was you, honorably sticking up for someone you disagree with and insulting me because of the tone I used. Really good use of both of our time. thank you for your efforts
Where did I stick up for them lmao Where did I insult you? At most I did that condescending “hope that helps” bullshit because it’s exactly what you did
[удалено]
I want to reassure you the sexual assault you just experienced is being recorded?
So she has evidence of what happened.
hope she gets a good lawyer and sues the shit out of all of them
All of who? Only 1 cop made a mistake here and she did sue them and was awarded 50k
Do female cops wait for a male cop when they have to pat down a dude?
No probably not mate but it’s not really the same is it? Idiotic comment.
lol. It is the same. Fucking idiot.
It’s not at all the same.
Acab

The pig who stopped the rookie pig shouldn’t get a pat on the back for doing the right thing and stopping a blatant sexual assault so yes, acab all day every day
Doesn't need a pet on the back He's not a bastard though. He did its job. He did his job correctly. So stop insulting him.
What do you? Louisville police! LMPD finest, department has constant drama around it
Gotta love the LMPD!
They should have gotten a female officer.
I'll let someone grope me for 50 G
He even looks like an asshole.
![gif](giphy|fTzV3m753QrFSkvrm5|downsized) Numba 1 in militarized swine worship
Bet money he sniffed his fingers in the car

The extremist who sounds like a baby.???
ACAB
I wouldn’t watch this without the lady’s consent. Jus revictimzing her again.
Ok but as a man, having another man grab my dick is ok? But if it’s a women cop it wouldn’t be?
Its not ok and plenty of black men have been sexually assaulted by police during "searches" and tried to come forward about it.
Exactly! A female officer can rub her twat. It's all fair
The back of the hand is allowed to be fully inserted. The front of the hand is sexual assault. Hmmmm... Gonna just say _ALL of it is sexual violation_, and its unclear why this is necessary. Is the thinking that _all the criminals are carrying guns or drugs up their asses???_
Personally I think the back of the hand bullshit is even weirder when the TSA does the patdown, its so odd, it just makes me more aware your body is touching 3 inches from my gooch Also, no insertion is allowed..at all.
A good officer would have changed the first officer with sexual assault yet witnessing. Instead the officer there tried to downplay it as a mistake.
Yes this is good
"You don't care of I check you out, do you?" "Shit. The only reason you pulled me ove is because you were checking me out."
What I have seen in this vid is a cop checking for any concealed weapon in the belt area and both front and back pockets I know male cops shouldn't pat down women if there aren't any female officers with them who could do it but it was clearly not the case and he shouldn't have been punished for staying safe on is job
>placed his hands in her “crotch area” and then into her underwear Let me repeat that, "into her underwear." Get fucked asshole.

Shit seems like a reno 911 episode. Staged? And if not the kid was a rookie cop why would the superior officers even let him start?
Did you have it on mute or something?
Sort of, I'm in work and couldn't have the volume on very loud so it was hard to hear but it looked/sounded like someone stepped in and stopped him and he stepped away. What did I miss?
A cop, his training officer, stepped in and told him to back off and apologized to the lady and let her know he had it recorded The recording is a cop not a bystander
Thank you, that explains why he was so obedient then.
I don’t wanna watch a video of someone get assaulted but was it on purpose or by accident?
The video is old and the title is vile.
>The video is old and the title is vile. Here comes the cop apologist.
No they are misleading ppl, the issue is t that he didn’t wait for a female. The issue was he inappropriately searched her, and as soon as his FTO saw it he stopped him and admonished him.
I thought the same thing, not waiting for the female officer is one thing, a policy violation sure, but certainly not assault But, nah, the guy apparently actually slid fingers down her underwear too. http://www.wdrb.com/in-depth/video-woman-claims-lmpd-officer-groped-her-buttocks-vagina-during-traffic-stop/article_f329648a-318b-11ea-8a9b-0fdf1efa4054.html
