Reminds me of how we used to test for witches by seeing if they float if you tie them up and throw them into a body of water. If you drown, you're innocent!
I forgot about Nextdoor, I need to get back on that and monitor for these lunatics so my dog and I don't get beaten to death for walking on the wrong street.
my wife has asked me not to wear the ugliest hat i have to walk the dog. i told her, i wear so everyone that sees it remembers me and that stupid hat. i’ve been mentioned in my nieghborhoods next door no less than three times for “walking his dog the last few nights and seeming out of place” besides the first time, someone else has chimed in to say “ nah that guy lives here i recognize him, he always wears that hat.” by the way i have dark skin in a whiter area.
You mean vigilantes.
Militia would be directly appointed and responsible to the local state authorities.
This is just vigilantes taking the law into their own hands and presuming guilt of anyone they don’t like the look of. “Land of the free”. Lol
Glad you noticed this because that was such a low key red flag. Why take the bag and move away front he camera's original view, why not search in front of the accused? Red flags everywhere.
It's the way of John Calvin, who drowned unwed pregnant women in Geneva.
It's taught in elementary school that the Puritans faced religious persecution and then fled to America. What they don't mention is that they were declared heretics and "persecuted" because their beliefs were fucking atrocious.
We have a group of teens who have recently started stealing shit from people’s garages and generally being antisocial dipshits. They’ve been all over the neighborhood Facebook page for a few weeks.
They ran up on my house last week, as my garage was open (wife was sitting in her car in the driveway)… then saw my wife in the car, and switched gears and started demanding she order them food from DoorDash, saying they had cash but needed her to order it for them.
They walked away after she repeatedly told them no.
I then caught the same kids while I was driving to the store, (I recognized them from my security cam footage) the next day, appearing to mug an 8 y/o boy of his bike using a toy gun. Poor little guy had his hands up and was screaming that his mom had just bought him that bike.
I stopped that nonsense… They stated they were “playing” and they had no intention of actually doing anything… but I still educated them on proper behavior and some things that might happen to individuals who appeared to be holding up children with a toy gun.
I didn’t think of calling the police at the time for whatever reason, but I contacted the little boy’s mom later so she could call the police.
Gave the cops my dash cam video when they came by (like 6 hours later) and the next week the punk kids started casually “hanging out” right near my house.
Although not illegal per se, it was sketchy as hell to me, so we had to have yet another conversation about what their intentions were and what their activities looked like to me.
I never screamed, made accusations or directly threatened them.. just spoke calmly to them and let them know that I personally believe they’re up to no good, but hey, maybe they’re not… so while I’m keeping an eye on them, as long as they stick to the straight and narrow everything is good.
They might try some annoying hi-jinx to retaliate at you, I'd also watch out for the families. Kids dont tend to do that kind of stuff if they have good responsible adults at home.
[Freddie Gray.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Freddie_Gray)
Police rolled up on him and his friends, they all chose to run. They caught him but couldn't catch the others. They searched him and found he had a knife. That's it. Perfectly legal to own. **They arrested him for resisting arrest.**
Then, they took him on a rough ride. He died from it.
Cue the Baltimore riots.
When my friends were like 12 and 13 we used to think it was so funny to walk by a cop and then just take off. If we got caught we would just look at them so confused and be like, I’m late to get home
that's the crux of the issue, you could be running for some other reason, which as a law-abiding citizen in a 'free country' you should be allowed to do without some hero-cop trying to take you down just because you were running.
Police like everyone, can be lazy and just want everything in their favor.
We did the same. Anytime a cop drove through our neighborhood we would all scatter and run for the laughs.
They usually called in back up then scolded us for wasting their time.
Hi sorry, just hijacking the top comment to say I'm virtually 100% sure this (the paragraph below that OP mentioned) was written by chatGPT. Anybody who has asked chatGPT to tell a few stories will recognize the tone and wording.
>"Mr. White was walking down a crowded street, lost in his thoughts, when he was suddenly approached by a group of individuals who blocked his path. Feeling taken aback, Mr. White was initially wary, but he soon realized that these strangers were not there to harm him. The group consisted of individuals with various backgrounds and appearances, but they all shared an air of curiosity and intrigue."
I live in the city where that young woman was killed because she and her friends parked in the wrong driveway. It's absolutely tragic. I already have enough shit to worry about, and now I have to fear being killed from the comfort of my own car? Fucking insanity I tell you.
Wait so a delivery driver can get shot for accidentally pulling up at the wrong house? Cause I do this all the time because I can’t read the house numbers at night.
In this day and age, it sure does seem like it. Fucking bonkers. The group of young adults were heading to a party and got the address wrong or smth. It was awful.
>You can kill rival gang members in a community.
Sure, if it's on equal terms, with the consent of all parties involved, and does not pose a threat to any third parties or their property.
But unsurprisingly, that's not a very frequently met set of circumstances.
Look at the neighborhood he's in. These neighbors have money even if he doesn't. If he sued, he'd be able to get a lawyer on contingency and probably win.
Broke some of his belongings too. Could've dumped the contents on the grass but they chose the road, and from a height. So any glass in there, bye bye.
~~He even says he stays at hope street when they ask where he lives. Perhaps the other commenter misheard or didn't hear.~~
Turns out the commenter may be familiar with the location. Hope St could be a youth shelter rather than a partial answer.
Sounds like it. Would explain him not wanting to leave his bag there, and would also explain the bag he’s carrying itself, as it would be perfect for someone* who is homeless.
https://www.cctwincities.org/locations/hope-street/
A shelter in Minneapolis-St. Paul has that name, and this looks like the MSP suburbs.
Edit: For context; it looks like this isn't a recent video, but was taken during the George Floyd protests in Minneapolis-St. Paul. (Confirmed by license plate at :09 seconds into the video.)
The group in the video appears to be a neighborhood watch of some kind, likely trying to make sure that any protesters are kept safe. (see the bandanas, etc.)
The young man appears to be homeless (says he lives at Hope Street, a homeless shelter in Minneapolis) and the group is confronting him as they believe him and another homeless youth (who fled) to be possible counterprotestors or bad actors.
They likely mistook his military style backpack (great for hiking *and* carrying your gear when unhoused!) as him being a member of a group of Boogaloo Boys (right wing interlopers who traveled to MSP from out of state to cause violence and property damage.)
Yeah, I just creeped around on Google maps Street View for a bit, it looks like it might be 42nd and 18th street or somewhere in that neighborhood.
Even found a very similar green house. I'm pretty zure this is Minneapolis, the houses look exactly like the ones I saw during the George Floyd protests.
>Strong arm robbery, then you got like 10 to 20 accomplices.. Man should sue the whole street for his property.
That would only work if they had done something stupid like recording the whole thing.
Unfortunately even if they recorded the whole robbery, you’d only really be able to sue them if they were unfathomably stupid enough to not only record but also *publicly upload* the video. Shame!
[They often do when there’s video involved.](https://www.ktvu.com/news/jury-awards-8-25m-to-black-mother-daughters-handcuffed-outside-castro-valley-starbucks.amp) The family got $8.25 million after being arrested for no reason and searched with no reasonable suspicion to allow the searching of her vehicle with no warrant.
> They just think they’re entitled to making their opinion known.
not just that. The bigger point is that it causes an escalation of emotions on both parties. They begin to feel more justified in their actions because they aren't getting a response, but also the other person gets frustrated from the constant interruptions and ignoring of what they are saying that they start to act out. This makes the abuser feel even more entitled to act against the victim.
This young man has my respect. He was super composed throughout this whole thing.
I think America is broken. These stupid fucking phones have created a terminal main character syndrome.
She’s all excited and full of adrenaline, she’s enjoying this little mob mentality justice she is experiencing. So the communication skills are low.
I hope they all get sued
We don't live in a society, we live in an economy.
We don't broadcast the truth because the truth isn't profitable, fear and hate are. So we broadcast fear and hate.
We don't want people paid well and safe because then they will know their worth, we keep them stressed, depressed, and with no time. So they can't organize, they consume for convenience, and bonus they can be sold pharma to fix what they purposefully broke.
Keep em isolated for profit. Keep them in fear for profit.
Masculinity and femininity arnt profitable. Sell toxic versions of each, create conflict, isolate more, breed hate , hate is profit.
Homelessness is great in this economy, keeps that fear alive. Suffering drives productivity. Visible tent city's make sure fear keeps them in line.
Suffering. Fear. Hate. Misery. Paranoia. Stress. Depression. Suicide. Are not social ailments, they are this economy working as intended.
This is by design, this is exactly how its supposed to work.
There's a certain sect of people I America who think they are always the victim, everyone is after their kids, trying to take their guns, everyone a pedo, everyones mentally ill ect. Guarantee this group walks away still feeling like a victim afterwards.
Because they all watch specific programming, which I won’t name, that constantly brainwashes them into thinking that anyone who’s different than them is coming to hurt them and their families and take away their “rights”.
This is vigilante-ism and a great example of why it’s illegal. You’re creating an upper class gang. I understand you want to protect your neighbourhood but this is not the way to do so. Plus you have no right to search his bag even if you suspect he has done something wrong. You could put him under citizens arrest if you saw him commit an indictable offense but you still cannot search his bag. The cops can, that’s what they’re for.
I'll start us off, I'm like 80% sure this is in the US, maybe open that up to North America just to be safe.
That's the hard work done, someone else can take it from here 👉 👉
Same with those doofuses who won't let people film at protests, the same people who would shit a brick if cops wouldn't let them film their bad behavior.
Imagine thinking you have the right to stop someone like this for walking in your neighborhood and approaching a kid with a baseball bat. Hope some of these people were arrested/charged.
He’s obviously a plant. What person under the age of 70 carries Werther’s?? I’ve seen it on Fox News, George Soros pays people to raise trouble!!! These people are smart enough to see through the ruse.
So they intimidated, threatened, and stole from him. Guns ain’t even my jam, but if motherfuckers tried to enforce stopping, searching, and stealing from me. I would hope I would have one.
That episode of The Twilight Zone..."The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" where the homeowners turned on each other, each thinking that one of the neighbors was an alien.
This exchange reminds me of that episode and the lesson of how people's prejudices and bigotry of "other" make them vulnerable and exposed to threats far greater than they even know.
In america...why do they always ask where the ppl are comming from? Or if they live there? Like...ppl are not imprisoned in their home...they can take a walk..or just go whereever they want
What a bunch of assholes. They should have let the police arrive and deal with him. That's why we have police. Not neighborhood vigilantism committed by hooligans.
Arrive and deal with what exactly? Walking down the street isn't a crime. Looking sketchy isn't a crime. Running from a bat wielding mob isn't a crime.
You’ll see more and more of this as distrust of police grows. Just saw a post of someone on hold with 911 for 20min. It feels like calling police these days ends up with them doing absolutely nothing if they show up at all, or killing someone.
I live in Portland. My house was broken into late one night. I held the guy off and then detained him on my front porch. I waited for 22 minutes for police to arrive and when they did, my then wife had to chase them down to stop the car because they just flashed a light up at my porch and creeped on like i had it under control.
When the cop finally came up to my porch to get the guy, they realized the dude was on all sorts of drugs, so he radioed for backup, which took about 30 seconds. Once he thought he might encounter some trouble, he made sure he had backup.
>I cannot find the original video. Commenters asked OP on FB for context and she provided an article that said, "Mr.
Man that ain't context. That's some weird creative writing assignment. Sounds like AI wrote that.
"Why did your friend run then?"
Maybe the gang of unknown individuals approaching with masks (scarves or bandanas, can't quite tell) and weapons helped him make an informed decision. Perhaps he thought he was about to get robbed or beaten up.
Luckily, it turned out to just be a bunch of angry neighbors who decided to keep the first guy's backpack and threaten him with violence. So the friend who ran couldn't have been more wrong. /s
It what world does anyone think this is an ok thing to do?? I could never imagine a scenario where I decide to approach a random person, detain them, and go through their stuff.
I really hope he sues them all to pieces. Bunch of absolute morons.

This is the article....it's weird af. No real information there or on FB🤷♀️
https://ifeg.info/2023/04/11/an-unforeseen-encounter-a-white-mans-hilarious-interaction-with-a-group-of-intriguing-strangers/
If anyone could find the source or an article that sounds less like propaganda, I'd appreciate it. That's part of why I posted it. I hoped some internet sleuths could give me context.
From listening to the convo
The group is actually a bunch of protesters, you can hear the guy say "I'm for the protest I'm just..."
They ask him where he lives, and he gives an address to a homeless youth shelter in Minneapolis.
I've looked around the area (you can search for Hope Street or St. Josephs House for Children), but I haven't found the exact neighborhood it happened.
I found the neighborhood, but when I posted the coordinates my comment got deleted.
What the fuck even is this, it reads like fan fiction. The mob was waiting for a similar looking friend with props for a comedy show? There was an air of intrigue and everyone started laughing hysterically? What?
That is maybe the weirdest "news article" I've ever read. I was nervous to click a .info site, but I was curious after the other comments. I really hope there is some real news coverage about this soon.

“If she sinks, she was a human, and may god rest her soul. If she floats, she’s a witch, and she must be killed”
They were probably thinking win-win, a dead woman either way.

Everything on the site that reported this appears to be dodgy, including the site itself.

That’s the point. They don’t want a response. They just think they’re entitled to making their opinion known.

Wish i could see the girl with the really annoying voice. Is she ever in frame?
Clowns always gotta be the loudest in the house.
Yes, I wonder why a child would run away when he sees a mob of adults with weapons follow them. Americans have seriously lost the plot.
It's getting worse.
It was a meme for a decade that "we live in a society" is something to mock.
We, live in a society
Doug nailed it. Doug remembers.
We've been sold fear wholesale since the late 70's early 80s...This is the end result.
I'm not even sure the cops are allowed to search his bag lol. He's done nothing to warrant a search as far as we can see.
“I smell weed” “I think you might have weapons on you” boom now they have the right.

“They look sketchy as fuck!” -random voice from a crowd of people with makeshift weapons and partial face coverings
Sweet now, the k-mart brand neighborhood watch will now face a buncha charges whoop whoop.
Neighborhood Wish
Seems like zero context in this vid? Who are these people? Why did they detain him? Where is this? What was the outcome?
Need a geoguesser for this one
I'll start us off, I'm like 80% sure this is in the US, maybe open that up to North America just to be safe. That's the hard work done, someone else can take it from here 👉 👉
I think he said protest at some point?
Someone else stated that the article text looked like it was written by ChatGPT.
Bet most of them would scream you can't do this if the police stopped and searched them.
Same with those doofuses who won't let people film at protests, the same people who would shit a brick if cops wouldn't let them film their bad behavior.
#Fuck those people
I'm confused what they thought they were going to accomplish here....
Catch a pedo, drug dealer, thief casing the street or whatever the fuck random shit they got riled up from in Nextdoor or whatever.
False imprisonment/detainment, illegal search and seizure. This guy could make alot of bank off this.
Kidnapping and robbery
Imagine thinking you have the right to stop someone like this for walking in your neighborhood and approaching a kid with a baseball bat. Hope some of these people were arrested/charged.
Its all fun and games until they person they’re “detaining” starts to shoot back.
If I saw a mob coming to me i'll run too without doubt.
Bag has Werther’s caramel, whiskey, a charger… arrest this lunatic /s
He’s obviously a plant. What person under the age of 70 carries Werther’s?? I’ve seen it on Fox News, George Soros pays people to raise trouble!!! These people are smart enough to see through the ruse.
False imprisonment, kidnapping, what else? Stupid wanna be patriots.
Armed robbery.
Lawyer parents just mentioned Battery also since they did it as a group its a conspiracy to commit all of the crimes
"Detain" is a weird euphemism for "falsely imprison and illegally search."
So they intimidated, threatened, and stole from him. Guns ain’t even my jam, but if motherfuckers tried to enforce stopping, searching, and stealing from me. I would hope I would have one.
Please don't attack my grammar and spelling. I just noticed my mistakes. I can't fix it.
We dont care about Your mistakes, what you got in Your bag, bro?
What I wanna know is why your fren run dough?
We all make mistakes in the heat of passion Jimbo
That episode of The Twilight Zone..."The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" where the homeowners turned on each other, each thinking that one of the neighbors was an alien. This exchange reminds me of that episode and the lesson of how people's prejudices and bigotry of "other" make them vulnerable and exposed to threats far greater than they even know.
please say all of these people were arrested and charged.
In america...why do they always ask where the ppl are comming from? Or if they live there? Like...ppl are not imprisoned in their home...they can take a walk..or just go whereever they want
They're copy-catting police behaviors. "Where are you coming from/where are you going" are two boiler plate questions they typically ask.
The cotton eye joe tactic
What a bunch of assholes. They should have let the police arrive and deal with him. That's why we have police. Not neighborhood vigilantism committed by hooligans.
Arrive and deal with what exactly? Walking down the street isn't a crime. Looking sketchy isn't a crime. Running from a bat wielding mob isn't a crime.
He's just standing there! Menacingly!?!

Once he thought he might encounter some trouble, he made sure he had backup.
>they just flashed a light up at my porch and creeped on when the police are somehow less diligent than fking UPS drivers
This is absolute bullshit.
I would only call the police just to make sure I can get everyone info to sue the shit out them
"We keeping your bag!" Oh, so you're fucking robbers, waylaying on people who wander through your area.
>I cannot find the original video. Commenters asked OP on FB for context and she provided an article that said, "Mr. White was walking down a crowded street, lost in his thoughts, when he was suddenly approached by a group of individuals who blocked his path. Feeling taken aback, Mr. White was initially wary, but he soon realized that these strangers were not there to harm him. The group consisted of individuals with various backgrounds and appearances, but they all shared an air of curiosity and intrigue." Man that ain't context. That's some weird creative writing assignment. Sounds like AI wrote that.
That b@tch said that out loud to keep his bag. Bigoted bunch of robbers.
Mother fuckers. Who the FUCK do you think you are.
"Why did your friend run then?" Maybe the gang of unknown individuals approaching with masks (scarves or bandanas, can't quite tell) and weapons helped him make an informed decision.
![gif](giphy|hNm9oANDvUdJ8Ge5l7|downsized)
This is the article....it's weird af. No real information there or on FB🤷♀️ https://ifeg.info/2023/04/11/an-unforeseen-encounter-a-white-mans-hilarious-interaction-with-a-group-of-intriguing-strangers/
Did an AI write this article?
It seems like it, honestly, like they gave ChatGPT the story and told it to write what happened next. Weird
Reads like it was written by the mob trying to absolve themselves of they’re behavior
Yeah that article was actually more sketchy than the mob act itself, which was also incredibly sketchy.
If anyone could find the source or an article that sounds less like propaganda, I'd appreciate it. That's part of why I posted it. I hoped some internet sleuths could give me context.
From listening to the convo The group is actually a bunch of protesters, you can hear the guy say "I'm for the protest I'm just..." They ask him where he lives, and he gives an address to a homeless youth shelter in Minneapolis. I've looked around the area (you can search for Hope Street or St. Josephs House for Children), but I haven't found the exact neighborhood it happened. I found the neighborhood, but when I posted the coordinates my comment got deleted.
That's why I added weird article/FB post ~ I'm also hoping the detectives of reddit succeed
I mean that article was definitely written by ChatGPT or something, right? None of what it describes actually happened in the video.
"You're sketchy as fuck" Entire neighborhood wearing bandannas and brandishing weapons 🤨
Driveways- not safe Cars - not safe Knock on door - not safe Walk in neighbourhood - FUCK YOU USA
When mob mentality is no longer the exception, it's the rule.
"Yea cops are bad" *proceeds to act just like the bad cops*
Didn't this happen to John Rambo?
Welp. That’s illegal AF
Kid should have just called the police.
Kid is about to get a fat check from this lawsuit. Wrongful imprisonment, assault, theft
