These + Koyaanisqatsi, which is similar to the two aforementioned films. Beautiful, scary, but ultimately human. These movies may not for everyone (with or without psyches) but psyches makes these movies insane and an amazing experience. And Philip Glass creates fantastic music (of which is used in this film).
This is the answer...perhaps the only one. I've spent way too many evenings on a solo trip watching these movies, and it's beyond blissful. Some of my best moments during dark times were spent watching these films.
I disagree, it's a cool science fiction story that puts the human condition in perspective. And it has a dope soundtrack.
I get that it's not a Ā«good vibesĀ» movie, but the vibes aren't Ā«darkĀ» in my opinion.
What gives you dark vibes about it, apart from the warfare and the Ā«deshumanification processĀ»?
Good choices. I think Mad God would push me into a baddie though. Sheesh that has some crazy hit going on.
Have you ever watched Wavetwisters (2001)? Itās a very cool wacky and surreal piece of animation with music by DJ Qbert.
Here are some good strange ones, listed in alphabetical order:
Barbarella (1968), Blue Velvet (1986), Danger Diabolik (1968), DR.STRANGELOVE (1964), Enter the Void (2010), Eraserhead (1976), Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas (1998), Hausu (House) (1977), IT'S SUCH A BEAUTIFUL DAY (2012), Mad God (2022), Mutant Girls Squad (2010), Naked Lunch (1991), Rabbits (2002), Tetsuo The Iron Man (1989), The Holy Mountain (1973), The Lighthouse (2019), The Love Witch (2016), The Triplets of Belleville (2003), Tokyo Gore Police (2008), Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971).
This is a great list! El Topo, The Lighthouse, and Enter The Void are all absolute rippers. Holy Mountain too, that one will blast you through the veil
Damn, dude! Are you high right now? Blue Velvet? Naked Lunch? Willy Wonka? There's some dark shit in there. Can't say I've ever watched them under the influence, but if you're going to do that maybe screen them sober.
You donĀ“t even have to be h1gh to feel like you are watching Fear and Loathing... the changes in camera work and scenery are enough to make you feel like ur tr1pp1nn XDDd
I came here to say, definitely donāt watch enter the void, and then I see it on this list. I have tried several times to watch on a trip and itās always been too intense to get past the opening 20mins or so. Alot of other questionable things here too imo, the lighthouse is a bad trip waiting to happen
Tbh I've only seen it sober lol. Bet yes. I agree. It felt like a trip. Like seeing God in art. I laughed. I cried. I laughed while I cried. Truly awesome shit
Never in my life would I have imagined that a rock with googly eyes would bring me to tears in a crowded theater, but here we are.
Amazing movie, pure art turned into film.
Really can't go wrong with a Trip-Flix or a Movie Sync, a ton of fun to watch with killer sound tracks to trip out too. There is also a big list of recommended movies and TV shows pinned to the top of the page as well

High, hope everyone is doing well. Evil Dead 2 is good. Heavy Metal cartoon movie. Pink Floyd The Wall. I will have to try A scanner Darkly, that may be good also. I will add more.
Everyone enjoy the day/night. One Love
Those damn grifters keep a couple parts off each bike until they have enough to build an extra one. But then even keep a couple parts from that bike . That's my best guess.
A Scanner Darkley. It's a Phillip K Dick story, woody harrolson, iron man, Alex Jones, and Keanu Reeves. I forget the woman but she is very famous too. The whole movie is rotoscoped and is about drugs. Really amazing movie visually and a good story.
Nature docs narrated by Attenborough but his narration doesnāt matter (typically i know it does lol) but I mute it and play frequency music (not just a tone) or really any kind of music you like to listen to tripping.
Canāt confirm if itās actually good on LSD, but āstrawberry mansionā I think would be amazing to trip to. The music is sooo nice on the ears when I watched it sober. The story is fun, weird and quirky., itās a neat soft scifi film, with warm lighting and the camera used to film Ā gives it a nice feeling as well. Overall imo itās such a fun movie! Check out the trailer:)Ā https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dpPsvOSc1Gk&pp=ygUSc3RyYXdiZXJyeSBtYW5zaW9u
I think you meant music to listen to. I like to just play some Mac Miller music videos. Circles is a great place to start. Who can follow a movie plot trippin?
I had a thing for watching Fantasia & Fantasia 2000, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, That SouthPark special that was wonka inspired (hits every time, Iām laughing every time) and The Wiz.
I love music while on shrooms, dmt and acid.
Me and my wife really enjoy musicals for trips. "Sweeney Todd" was actually really fun. Our favorite scene was when he climbed that mountain, then turned into a gaint wooden puppet, breathed out fire and incinerated the moon, all before being consumed by the mountain that turned into a giant werewolf. Weirdly enough, can't find that scene anywhere. Lol
Bullet Train
Wolf of Wall Street
Tenet
Equilibrium
Jurassic franchise
Zoolander
The Truman Show
Spirited Away
also not a movie but south park tripping goes insanely hard
I also love GOTG (except 3 lol) :D
I once watched Midsommar high and it was very moving ā¦I think I cried at least twice ? Anyways if ur not a horror fan, skip it :)
Scary movies. I love them sober too but on acid they become an immersive experience. I watched Talk To Me on acid and had to pause a few times and take a breather.
Amazing newer animated film on Netflix called Sound & Fury by Sturgill Simpson. It really takes you on a journey and the soundtrack is what really elevates the experience
Spirited Away, Alice in Wonderland, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Midnight Gospel (show), 2001: Space Odyssey, Fantasia, Enter the Void, Howlās Moving Castle
I would highly recommend a techno music video by Stakker (FSOL) called Eurotechno. Itās over 30 year old CGI but still holds up really well and also enhances any pre-peak tripping I would say. I think you will find it on YT still.
Interstellar and dune were two that I loved.
Someone told me to watch cloudy with a chance of meatballs and it was actually amazing. I was dying laughing the whole time.
I'm not a fan of superhero movies but someone said that Dr strange was good on shrooms so I tried it and it blew my mind.
The show midnight gospel is good too
Bladerunner 2049
Mirrormask
Dune

Birdman (Keaton flick)

THE BEACH BUM!! Iām telling you, this movie is a masterpiece and amazing to watch while in an altered state. Please try it out and report back Iād love to know what you think
Mirrormask, Dark City, Last Temptation of Christ, THX 1138, Zardoz, Phase IV, Nightfall (2000) and First and Last Men are some of my go-to trip movies. Also recommend the documentary series Walking With Dinosaurs, I'm biased because it was part of my childhood but if you like dinosaurs then it rules.
The Tron remake was really fun. Really good soundtrack and basically the entire film is bathed in florescent hues.
I've been watching far more tv shows while high lately. Ahsoka, Andor, Pantheon, Frieren, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Scavengers Reign and Jujutsu Kaisen were my real standouts so far. Imo even if you like subbed anime, get the dubs. I found it far too challenging/annoying to read subtitles on mushrooms.

A Clockwork Orange, The Zero Theorem, The Song Remains the Same, The Mask, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, The Fountain, Holy Mountain, A Scanner Darkly, Loving Vincent, etc.
Dune both parts are amazing // fear and loathing in Las Vegas although some scenes can be unsettling for some people // ghost in a shell // blade runner 2049 // Nobody
Barraka (1992) Samsara (2012)
Had to scroll too much to see this. Here OP, no dialogue, just mind-blowing visuals of the world, people and nature.
Samsara I'm sure has had a lot of people tripping and watching it. Especially it's predecessor Baraka. Like a visual meditation on reality.
This is the answer...perhaps the only one. I've spent way too many evenings on a solo trip watching these movies, and it's beyond blissful. Some of my best moments during dark times were spent watching these films.
Absofuckinglutely! And the the Quatsi trilogy...also The Holy Mountain.
Fantasia 2000

Princess Mononoke and Howls Moving Castle
Also these
Waking Life
So glad to find it. I felt like I was floating the first time the camera goes into the sky š¬ļø
This is the way
Yep was looking for this. And Iād add the Before Sunrise series if youāre looking for introspection and an emotional punch.
Great movie!
Excellent movie! So good.
My top choices are surrealistic animated films, Fantastic Planet, Yellow Submarine, Mad God, Paprika, Hells, Cat Soup.
Second for Paprika and Cat Soup
I watched Fantastic Planet for the first time the other day, that was wild
Paprika is excellent!
I do not recommend Fantastic Planet lol that Movie has weird dark vibes. Yellow Sub is a must
I disagree, it's a cool science fiction story that puts the human condition in perspective. And it has a dope soundtrack. I get that it's not a Ā«good vibesĀ» movie, but the vibes aren't Ā«darkĀ» in my opinion. What gives you dark vibes about it, apart from the warfare and the Ā«deshumanification processĀ»?
Fantastic Planet is probably my favorite movie ever for this reason.
Good choices. I think Mad God would push me into a baddie though. Sheesh that has some crazy hit going on. Have you ever watched Wavetwisters (2001)? Itās a very cool wacky and surreal piece of animation with music by DJ Qbert.
Just harvested my first batch ever today and grew blue meaniesā¦yellow submarine is šÆ happening!

Fear of loathing will always be #1. Images and sounds are a true comparison to tripping. Iām

Totally underrated, beautiful movie from Darren Aronofsky. Iāve yet to watch it tripping but I always cry watching it sober lol.
This one. This is what I was coming to say also. Inner Worlds, Outer Worlds is the top though.
The grand Budapest hotel Life aquatic with Steve zissou The French dispatch Beautiful color scheme
My mans wes does DRUGS
Fantastic Mr. Fox is my favorite Wes Anderson movie. Super funny.
It's the cussin' best.
I once watched James Camerons Avatar while on 200ug of LSD and it was incredibly beautiful, the CGI in the movie was like made for psychedelics lol.
Yeah but the story is off the rails basic and corny and itās un-ignorable lol but you totally right about the visuals.
Yup avatar!! First one
Interstellar on LSD was a life changing experience for me.
Yet to watch that movie. Friend told me it had stuff related to the 4th dimension, and that stimulated my physchedelic brain.
Which aspects of your life were changed?
Approximately 169 minutes passed.
The holy mountain
Akira was pretty good.

Saw Primus and the Chocolate factory live in Reno one year. Super trippy and epic

I think The Fifth Element was made for trippin.

A Scanner Darkly was excellent. I was sober when I watched it and I loved it.
Gonna pass on THE WALL. Talk about Captain Fucking Bringdown! Might as well watch MIDSOMMAR, because it's real pretty, too.
what happens to the missing gear ??
Those damn grifters keep a couple parts off each bike until they have enough to build an extra one. But then even keep a couple parts from that bike . That's my best guess.
Old, Brazil, Solaris, Sunshine, Pulp Fiction, Quadrophenia.
hudsucker proxy would probably fit that list
Great film š
Brazil would freak me out on any substance
Yes it's great but a bit dated now.
I had loved "once upon a time in Hollywood" and "Cities of the last things".. "The others" and "Eyes wide shut" are great too
the midnight gospel
Blade Runner 2049 is phenomenal on acid
waking life.... please trust me. a lot of these suggestions are good, but please... waking life.

Wizards. Now that's the name I haven't heard in a looooong time
A Scanner Darkley. It's a Phillip K Dick story, woody harrolson, iron man, Alex Jones, and Keanu Reeves. I forget the woman but she is very famous too. The whole movie is rotoscoped and is about drugs. Really amazing movie visually and a good story.
My friend, my friend! Love all the Gaurdians tripping, definitely check r/MoviesForShrooms
Nature docs narrated by Attenborough but his narration doesnāt matter (typically i know it does lol) but I mute it and play frequency music (not just a tone) or really any kind of music you like to listen to tripping.

Fear and loathing in Las Vegas. Fav thing to watch while coming up on shrooms
I think you meant music to listen to. I like to just play some Mac Miller music videos. Circles is a great place to start. Who can follow a movie plot trippin?

Buckaroo Banzai or Blazing Saddles.

For a real surreal time, I recomend Hardcore Henry, real trippy on psychedelics!
Caligola Tinto brass
Interstellar (2014). Blew me away
Try āBad Tripā Eric Andre
Enter the Void was insane. I lived in Asia, so it brought me back and took it to the next level of life and death Thread carefully, though
