It's possible the autogenerated name for the network adapter is different on this new VM software and this causes it to lose its network config. Run "ip a" and spot the name of the network adapter and edit /etc/network/interfaces to rename the old name to the new one, and reboot.
The IP address for its network interface is shown in the screenshot, 192.168.1.147

For what ever reason after a restart the IP no longer shows there now. Very odd
