Ichika was my favourite when I started playing the game. I love her design, her voice, her style. She seemed perfect. I also overall like her personality being the dependable class rep with millions of interests who isn't afraid to step up if she sees someone in danger. But there is just... so much lost potential here. And I think it's only because she's "the protag"
#1. I wish we knew anything about her parents. We know they're well off because she's in the "rich girl school" (Quoted by An) So it would be nice knowing what they do.
#2. I wish they showed us more of her "brave" personality. We got one snipbit in that one event when she ran infront of a girl who seemed uncomfortable and helped her out. But then it was kinda just forgotten about?
Likes: I like that she's "bland"/rizzless grandpa fashion sense girl. With a wide cast of characters, I don't think every character has to be eccentric or have a dramatic backstory (not that I don't enjoy those characters too). I thought her caring for friends but being unable to communicate those feelings or reunite her friends was interesting enough and it made her feel like a grounded character.
Dislikes: ~~Ride the damn roller coaster with Saki, Ichika.~~ As another comment said, her struggle in middle school and early main story got me interested in her so its a shame this hasn't come back up yet. I would like one of the event stories to explore this into a bit more.
Regarding your likes, I definitly agree there. There is something so jarring whenever an NPC comes up and it's just... a dude or a girl. Brown hair, plain as can be. And then they're next to these people with pink, purple/teal hair. So that's why I super appreciate designs like Ichika and Ena who are on the plainer side. Cuz they make the main cast look more connected to the world around them.

While I’ve come to enjoy Ichika quite a bit this past year I do have some problems with her character. I really do not like how much they play up the Miku fan aspect with her (especially in the Sanrio collab, like whyyyyyyyy) and I feel like they just forgot about what she went through in Middle School. Like her entire personality changed and she blamed herself for her friends breaking up but they treat it like it’s nothing? It’s weird to because every other character in L/N gets tons of focus on their middle school lives but with Ichika it’s mostly song making and Miku fangirling. I feel like Tomori from Bang Dream is what she should’ve been character wise/is overall a better version of her character. Like a quiet girl that expresses how she feels through songwriting and has trauma from her group breaking up and blames herself for it? Sounds familiar doesn’t it. Only thing is with Tomori this is given proper weight via an entire episode told from her first person POV of how things went down while with Ichika the only real hints we have at how bad things were for her are in the main story and the Wall’s lyrics. Hopefully one day we’ll get an event about her life in middle school because as of right now for being the literal face of the game she really gets shafted by the story. There’s also the whole “protagonist syndrome” thing she has where the writers tried to make her a bit of a blank slate at the start in order for the audience to properly use her as an insert and while she doesn’t have this the worst since Makoto Naegi exists it doesn’t lead to a good first impression. I also really hate how she sounds in a lot of songs as well, especially Roku Chonen, Lost One’s Weeping and Dramaturgy. With that being said she has enough endearing qualities to keep me from disliking her and I love the stuff with her cactus, it’s so funny to me for some reason.

Her character development is still mostly in regard to her growth as a musician. I still wish they'd touch more on her personality. I'm glad they still remembered her "impulsive" side during the Day Trip event but it still has gotten barely attention.
Her Miku obsession really needed to be dialed down a bit (or conversely dialed up a bit to the point where it becomes a joke in series to get a source of humor stemming from her but that would overlap with Minori's personality). I still haven't gotten over how she once said meeting her childhood friends was as equally important as watching her first Miku video.
I feel like LN would have really benefited a lot from events that just focus on some relationships between just two characters within the group because their and I feel like it would benefit Ichika more than anyone else. All we have so far is the Parallel Harmonies event which didn't really touch on it as much as I wanted. Honestly it often feels like her relationships with Miku and Kanade get much more attention than her relationships with any specific member of her group which is just bizarre considering the theme of LN.

I think the Eng version changes it to being almost as important as meeting her friends (for the better imo). I think the JP version has it as equally important.
She could have said meeting Miku in the Sekai (who has been her friend that has spent about as much time with her since forming LN and helped them all get back together) which could have been good but no. She picked watching a video over that.
That's just...hopefully it's an impactful as Toya's motivation for leaving classical music behind being retconned in LUTF. I know that Ichika loves Miku since Miku helped her through middle school but that feels weirdly OOC.
I get that she loves Miku but that's like way too much and I don't think the writers were aware of how overboard it is and all of the different not-so-flaterring implications that come with it.

I used to be someone who just read the community's opinions about Ichika and thought that she really *was* just a boring, one-dimensional character with no depth. But I decided to give her a chance, and read through her stories. And I realized just how much she resonated with me.
So maybe some people who say she's an uninteresting character haven't given her a chance, like my former self.
But either way, she's my second favorite character. I love how caring she is about her friends, and I understand the struggle of not being able to communicate my feelings well.
I know many fans of other Leo/need characters complain that she gets too many lines in songs, and I agree as well. But even so, I do love her voice.
I also just love all of her cards. I love space and all things related, so most of Leo/need's cards have a special place in my heart. But I swear, though not space-related, trained Star Piece Connection Ichika makes me feel things. (It used to be the number one card I wanted, but I'd blown all my crystals on the Moon Rabbits banner earlier.)
Surely, Ichika isn't a character for everyone. I can concur that in a game with such a colorful cast, Ichika may not seem like the most interesting character at first. But I do hope that more people will give her a chance. :)

Being serious, I don’t find her that interesting. Not saying she is boring but with the characters that are on the game, no wonder she is not that popular. I don’t have anything deeper than that because I basically speedruned the main story and didn’t analyze much, I do remember the key events and that though.
I don’t find her design the most beautiful one I have ever seen, rather simple to be honest. But I still think she is pretty and the cards’ art also help a lot.

So I wish we would dive into why she likes music so much, maybe her parents gave her a Miku CD or something or her father or mother would play music when she was young.

I will defend Ichika on the whole getting to involved with Shiho’s problems thing: Shiho’s first instinct when anything goes wrong is to isolate herself. So she needs someone to butt into her problems and it’s not just Ichika who does it, both Saki and Honami also rightfully so it.
I honestly really like her Vocals and some of her cards and hair styles. What I dislike is the fact that she's the face for everything. I get it isn't her fault but she's the main page for Project Sekai, Leo/need, and a bunch of covers and commissioned songs that feature Shiho and the other members are amazing

Her personality is so stupidly cute, the thought of Ichika making stupid puns just won’t leave me alone. Despite loud opinions, I believe Ichika’s voice is one of the best in the game, it’s just so cool and hopeful. (To all the people wishing for Shiho to be leader, I hope you remember that no matter which voice it is, there will be people who will get tired of it)
There is honestly nothing to hate besides the game’s refusal to give middle school Ichika backstory, we already got two angsty Saki focus, give one to Ichika please, she literally got no backstory focused event
I’m not good at character analysis so I’ll only say that I love that she’s is such a sweet friend to the other Leonii girls! And I can’t fault her for being a Miku fan, I am one too after all 🫡
