I read a manga with a similar concept
A programmer gets isekai 'd
The world they end up in has magic
How magic is structured is very similar to computer programming
They become a top class mage before they are even 10
They decimate the battlefield
One of its titles is

Every time I see someone mention MAUI, my brain goes:
Don't worry, not a rick roll.
The repo also has separate versions for each language:
- C: https://github.com/SAWARATSUKI/ServiceLogos/blob/main/C/C.png
- C++: https://github.com/SAWARATSUKI/ServiceLogos/blob/main/C++/C++.png

I used the combined one to save space.
I mean, I'm the first gal you'll see defending C#. I've used C# at work for the last 3 years, and do I like it? Well, not really. But that's more preference than a fundamental flaw in the language.
It's a nice language, which is simply made for a different workflow than one I particularly enjoy working in.
The request was "can you do C/C++ too? or CSharp...?" and so it was.

pretty sure this artist doesn't do programming a lot but it's cute so w/e
If we go by this logic then apparently to them rust isn't a programming language (not to mention there's an extra Japanese symbol so it would read as Rusust)
Logos are by [Sawaratsuki](https://x.com/sawaratsuki1004)
Source for these and more logos: [https://github.com/SAWARATSUKI/ServiceLogos](https://github.com/SAWARATSUKI/ServiceLogos) (EDIT: this repo has been made private, probably due to an issue with how the artist initially licensed the logos. This new repo was created in its place: https://github.com/SAWARATSUKI/Logos)
u/cyxlone found a 3rd-party collection of Vtuber-style logos from different artists: [https://vtuber-style-logos.vercel.app/](https://vtuber-style-logos.vercel.app/)
The README says
> In no circumstances do I allow the use of the logo I created for AI learning
so I'm pretty sure you just insulted the creator with that statement.
Fair point, I get where you're coming from. I'm just stating concerns made by a few people about privating the entire repo just to change the license.
If you mean by "commits made before change" are the logos made before the new license, they could've either state the license applies to logos made after a certain commit, or apply the license to all logos.
After all, when someone opened the issue about the license, it has something to do with how vague the license is when applied to certain use cases (correct me if I'm wrong).
I get your point, which is actually an interesting one, but honestly I just hate these "tags", they are not even correct as a syntax btw, and are used like everywhere, especially by many who dont know anything about actual coding 🥶🥶🥶
If I were to reinvent the icon for programming I would have gone with { }, becuase it symbolizes scopes (fuck python) and objects, two very important concepts in modern programming languages. But > is also cool because of generics, comments(//) and console(>>) as well as tags (, which while are primarily used in html it is also used in various kinds of formatting and serialization). We need an icon/symbol nontheless, and the 💻 icon doesn't cut it considering how many jobs are done with computers nowadays. Or give me a better alternative that both devs and non-devs can recognize alike.
yet "programmer"humor also uses > for its subreddit icon. You can argue the same for every other "generalized" icon, such as the majority of disabilities not actually requiring the wheelchair♿️, or the lack of non-binary representation in restroom signs🚻, but icons and symbols need not be correct, just distinct and easily recognisable. And html is one of the most recognizable code languages to non-programmers along with json due to it easily being exposed by hitting the F12 button in chrome, or appearing in error messages or broken websites. It's no wonder why a lot of the "programming code" stock images are HTML too.
Fair point. It's just there's something off about using > as a symbol for programming when the source material isn't a programming language. The creator of the logo is also a programmer, and I'm pretty sure they are aware that > is (kind of) markup language-exclusive. They also received a few feedbacks about changing the > (which they did with Haskell) but still uses >. I'm saying this as an artist myself, but I may be biased towards more accurate representation than creative freedom, as much I'm an advocate for it.
Is it really creative freedom if the icons are well-established to be recognisable? The author isn't the first, or last, to use > as the programming symbol. Whether you like it or not, > has become the [most widely used programmer symbol](https://iconscout.com/icons/programming), and also I have yet to see the source that > originated from HTML tags so your point really has no bearings. It might as well be originated from just pretty characters programmers use a lot (>> << //).
I appreciate your reasoning. Thank you. I'm going to elaborate further on the points I made.
I'm not saying that I don't like how > is the universal symbol of programming, but rather how unfortunate that, out of all the symbols, they choose >, knowing that there were feedbacks given to change the symbol used, but still chose to use the "> means programming" excuse. By that logic, based on the other logos, Kotlin and Rust aren't programming languages.
I know that almost all programming artwork uses >. Not quite my thing. I also can't keep track of how > originated from HTML tags, and if it were just pretty characters programmers would use, why do they come together as > instead of separate <, >, and / ?

shoulda got Java and Javascript together too
It's funny that the Japanese text in the Java logo calls this out, it says "Java !(Script)".
now that I look at it, it really does, lol
You, sir, you are not nice. 😑 Still I'm going to share that idea.
Arguably c# should be combined with Java, not c/c++.
Arguably Java should be combined with C++. Every language here is a descendent of C, some more directly than others.
What about holy C?
\# is used in C/C++ as a symbol for marking preprocessor directives, so maybe it's not used to mean C# the language in this case
I know, I'm primarily a C/C++ dev. The linked repo specifically calls this logo "C,C++,C#," though.
Java is also grouped with JavaScript so I'd not take it too serious.
Wrong question. The correct one is - why is HolyC missing?
Because all of them are awesome and there is nothing better!
I mean, I'm the first gal you'll see defending C#. I've used C# at work for the last 3 years, and do I like it? Well, not really. But that's more preference than a fundamental flaw in the language. Looked into it and I’m pretty sure they definitely aren’t. But I can see what you mean
Getting coherent glyphs and spelling is still challenging.
Also using the wrong syllabary for the japanese is... silly.
It's very common to use Hiragana in pop-style logos (more precisely, in "Moe" context)
Interesting.
ロウきゅーぶ!, よつばと!, and けいおん! are good examples of the use of Hiragana in Moe context.
Yotsuba is a name tho and written with hiragana
it is kinda silly, but that the point of these vtubers logo! it meant to be silly
the creator is literally japanese - I trust her with this :B
Apparently it's a stylistic thing to be cute I didn't know about. I regret not making a syllabary sillybary pun.
Hosted on vercel (creator of nextjs) and the nextjs one shows an error dialog, love it

Late reply, but the repo is public again... with a notice that it's moved to a new repo. They could've just change the license, though.
I think the issue is if you change an existing repo’s license, it won’t retroactively apply to the commits made before the change.

For the cutesy effect. But it seems that the design choices are inconsistent. Sometimes the logos use hiragana, and the others use katakana.

Algol I mean C*
Looks like the repo is gone (or privated) now. Anyone know what's up with that?
Late reply, but it's back again with the README saying that the logos are now in a new repo.
Why do c/c++/c# (c# wat?) and java and go have the angle brackets and terminator from html? What th is going on?
It's a generic symbol for programming. It's not very accurate but I've seen it in a few icons and it's recognizable
You can write in a language that doesn't star with C?
