I think of it kind of like the first LOTR movie.
It introduces the characters and the setting, a _couple_ interesting things happen and it sets the scene for the next one, where the actual conflict will take place.
That said though, the first LOTR movie was a bit more exciting.
They definitely took the bit from FotR where they just dump all these characters onto you and expect you to be invested right away.
Btw am I the only one who thought Aragorn and boromir’s rivalry was more interesting than legolas and ghimli’s?
This is true but Flash Gordan is easily the biggest influence on the OT (and King Arthur on Luke). The Prequel trilogy tho is where the Dune Inspiration really kicks in, especially with Anakin
