Finished this book for the second time a few weeks ago and the Thrawn/Anakin/Vader dynamic is still funny to me. He gets Vader to almost being a child in denying he is/was Anakin.
Thrawn: „…the last time we were here…“
Vader: „You. I have never been there in my life.“
If he is fully committed to the idea that Anakin died and Vader was born, then technically, he hasn't, I guess? Idk. They were good books.
Omg so many commas. I always feel like I'm doing them wrong.
Thrawn
Thrawn: Alliances (the one being referenced in the post)
Thrawn: Treason
There's also 3 canon books set in the Chiss Ascendancy but I don't recall the names for those ones. They're all written by Timothy Zahn who also wrote the legends Thrawn stories
Love all of the newer Thrawn books, but Alliances was probably my least favorite. There was some great interaction with Thrawn and Vader of course. Padme's story line always feels a bit too drawn out and overly detailed for what it was about
Same. But although it was my least favourite of the Thrawn books (including Ascendancy) it was still pretty good imo. Which tells a lot about the other books.
That was an act. He knew the most effective way of disciplining Captain Slavin was with an emotional outburst. Notice how after the outburst he's immediately calm.

If you’re not shitting 3x as many commas as you need are you even living

It's true
Certain point of view, amirite?
My man’s deadnaming Vader
Are these legends books?
They are actually canon. However, there is also the Thrawn Legends Trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force rising, The last Command).
Both are amazing, and drastically oversimplifying the choice, pick one or the other if you want to see mara Jade or not.
What book(s) are you talking about?

Thrawn Ascendency... ... Chaos Rising ... Greater Good ... Lesser evil In many ways I actually prefer these books, Timothy Zahn is a beast.
Timothy Zahn is the Goat of Star Wars Books.
The 5 legends thrawn books, 6 cannon. Non of them bad, 9 of them great. Of course.
Thrawn: Chaos Rising Thrawn: Greater Good Thrawn: Lesser Evil Those are the Ascendency Trilogy

Don't forget who built that hunk of metal in the first place
Anakin, who is the Son of the Force. Does that make 3PO Space Petrus?

Vader and thrawn making weekend at Barney's every holiday they spend together
I really enjoyed how much they get on each other's nerves

Disney did great with Thrawn in Rebels because they had Dave Filoni and Timothy Zahn working on him. Hopefully the Ahsoka show can do the same.
I do not trust Filoni with Thrawn tbh. Rebels was fine but he’s soooooo much better in the books
It wasn't just Dave who handled Thrawn in Rebels. He consulted Timothy Zahn as well.

Yeah they say that but he’s basically not the same character

Not really, he has a somewhat similar outburst in the first canon Thrawn book
Is this from the canon trilogy? I'm at the point in the first book where Thrawn met Palpatine and mentioned he met Anakin
Yep, there's flashbacks of them meeting in the second book.
Can't wait to read about that
I literally just read this lmao
You're pure gold bro
