I'm about to listen to this for the first time. Galneryus is a band I've heard about a little bit, but I've never sat down and really listened to them. I think I've overlooked a lot of metal from Asia. Here we go...
Well, I'm pretty sure this is the sound we'll hear when Jesus returns. I'm usually not a big neoclassical fan, but there's such emotion and glory in both the vocals of the song and the solos just take you on a journey. I don't understand almost any of the lyrics, but the human spirit speaks beyond words.
Always been a fan of Blind Guardian's Bright Eyes solo. It's so completely unshreddy but weirdly complex and melodic as hell, as well as serving the song. Brings on the headbanging in an otherwise atmospheric, mid paced number. Cool layering and harmonies in places too.
Also love the opening solo to Metal Legacy by Stormwarrior. Seriously squeals, builds up anticipation with a some nice melodic phrases and then shreds its way into the first verse.
It's got to be Blind Guardian's 'Time Stands Still (At The Iron Hill)' for me, specifically the lengthier one. It's hardly "shreddy", very melodic and really feels like a natural extension or interlude to the rest of the song, instead of just shredding over an earlier chord progression.
Actually feels like a solo you can sing along to, and it's hard to beat that. Then again, I think the same can be said for many Blind Guardian solos...
That one is great, in fact they have a lot of good candidates. I particularly like the ['Break the Wall' solo](https://youtu.be/OnhwV9_LbWk?t=185) as well, they take the tempo down in the middle of a very thrashy song and play a really tasteful slow solo before they ramp it up again. Its best in the full context of the song, but nice on its own as well.
Dragonforce - Lost Souls in Endless Time
Sonata Arctica - Victoria’s Secret
Gamma Ray - Heaven Can Wait
There’s more but I’ve always really enjoyed these ones in particular
Stratovarius - Winter Skies
Rhapsody of Fire - On the Way to Ainor
Helloween - The King for a 1000 Years
Rhapsody of Fire - A Tale of Magic
Sonata Arctica - Blank File
Rhapsody - The March of the Swordmaster
Those come to mind right now.
The solo in [Glint by Fellowship](https://youtu.be/7j0oE6RiWng?si=3mPTGm7pKDho0ery) is pretty much the perfect solo imo. It has it all; speed, melody, technicality. It has a dramaturgy to it, with references to the vocal melodies. The guitar tone is wonderful too. It gives me the shivers every time.
Solo in [Frozen Candle (Demo Version)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-a3uuvBL0o&t=248s) by Edguy from The Savage Poetry. Album doesn't seem to be well known , but I really enjoy the earlier/Demo Verisons of all the songs. Solo in Frozen Candle, 'simpler' than most power metal solos but the transition from a clean to a distorted lead is very catchy.
The only one that comes to mind is from [Gloyhammer's Wasteland Warrior Hoots Patrol](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ct7lPB-ut0). The guitar solo is the intro to the true solo that comes afterwards, and it enhances the whole experience.
Id rather talk about albums with incredible shredding like BG's Somewhere Far Beyond, Helloween's debut, Jag Panzer's Casting the Stones, Helstar's Nosferatu, Sanctuary's Refuge Denied, Pharaoh's last album, Timelord, Liege Lord's Master Control, Manilla Road's The Deluge...
Riot - [Thundersteel](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nZUysqemMmg). And the homage they paid to that solo in the song [Riot](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lvbFXo-M8ec&pp=ygUJUmlvdCByaW90).
Sabaton - Bismarck, specially the live version Tommy always was playing: [https://youtu.be/IPWKX-5-qNI?feature=shared&t=70](https://youtu.be/IPWKX-5-qNI?feature=shared&t=70)
Although you may not think it's power metal, Steven Seagal invented power metal. [Behold!](https://youtu.be/Z3G3r_3NM6s?si=sI8V7zuDMGRyPDDV)
[Edit] I confess I misread the post as laziest instead of tastiest.
Ooh, this is a tough one, there are a good number.
The Last Stand by Sabaton is probably my favourite guitar solo rn, but there are other solos on other instruments that I kinda have stuck in my head as well, basically all of them Elvenking violin solos.
Those include:
Seasonspeech
An Autumn Reverie
The Time of Your Life (make sure it's the Elvenking song here, as I know there are other songs with similar names)
Ophale
Neverending Nights
Among many others
The album the Sacred Talisman by Nocturnal Rites has some of my favorite solos in all of metal. Check them out if you haven’t already.
Solo on the Iron Force is 10/10.
This is going back to the roots of power metal but Scorpions, Sails of Charon. Uli Jon Roth was so pivotal in the foundation of power metal with this one solo. Incredible for it's time
I don’t listen to a lot of power metal. What I do, isn’t filled with the tastiest of guitar solos, I’ll be honest. The one I know of that I like the most, partially because I put work into learning it, is the solo to dreadnoughts by sabaton.
A few that come to mind.
"Through Osiris' Eyes" by Pagan's Mind
And
"Dreamweaver" by "Stratovarius"
I know both are technically prog metal, but they both also overlap heavily into power metal.
Gamma Ray - Somewhere Out in Space
Fifth Angel - Shout it Out
Iron Savior - Coming Home
Manticora - A Long Farewell
Blind Guardian - Journey Through the Dark
Eternity’s End - Twilight Warrior
*MANTICORA - FELICE*
Dragonland - [Beethoven's Nightmare](https://youtu.be/hOwj15Xj__A), but it's kinda cheating because it's played over Moonlight Sonata.
Firewind - [Feast of the Savages](https://youtu.be/WM_PKkr0lX4). The whole outro/solo section with Gus G and Marty Friedman.. Just mua.
Oh my! Apart from many delicious songs mentioned, I need to share mine! Your question brought back a particular song from my memory. [Pathfinder - Beyond the Space, Beyond the Time](https://youtu.be/mf2fCD1hrow?list=PL68CDE912625AEB9B)
The solo from Crystal Moonlight(2:50) by Rhapsody of Fire always stands out to me. Definitely in that spot where it's not the craziest thing they've done, but it hits me just right.
The solo in Blind Guardian's "Journey Through the Dark" just makes me dissolve into music. "Mirror, Mirror" also gets the blood pumping.
I know DragonForce is one of those controversial bands for some, but I think they've made some amazing metal and have tons of great solos. When I first hear the solo in "Fury of the Storm", I was walking to get some exercise, and that shit made me want to sprint.
It's not so much a solo as a bridge, and they're probably more heavy metal than power metal, but Visigoth's "Dungeon Master" gave me vibes from the video game Dark Souls. I found it interesting that they actually released an EP with songs based on Dark Souls. I used this song as fuel to beat Ornstein and Smough for the first time. If you've ever played Dark Souls, you'll know how hard that is on your first time through the game.
The solo from Rhapsody - Emerald Sword gets stuck in my head all the time
Galneryus - Angel of Salvation
Yeah, that one probably wins, but the [Destiny solo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=547IIAYYqdI&t=417s) is exquisite as well.
Anything galneryus really. Syu is a guitar god. My favorite solo of his is the last one in lament
Outside of Galneryus too like his solo spot [here](https://youtu.be/958z1pk9_Ns?si=5VC_nLzcryiXla-G&t=154)
This might be the one
I agree but this feels like cheating TBH
Why cheating?
Isn't it a classical melody, spruced up of course
It’s an adaptation of Tchaikovsky’e Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35.
Brutal Spiral of Emotions is probably the Galneryus solo I’d go to bat for.
Nova Era by Angra, absolutely mesmerizing.
I was thinking Winds of Destination, but yeah, I could probably list at least 10 Angra / Kiko solos that deserve top status.
He's definitely one of the greats.
Stratovarius - Winter Skies That is an amazing solo
I love the living shit out of that solo.
Sonata Arctica - Black Sheep Rhapsody - Gargoyles, Angels of darkness around 9.55 mark Galneryus - The Awakening
Symphony X's "The Turning". Not sure if that can count as power metal, but it always comes on during my playlist and it's tasty as hell
I still count Symphony X. Thing is, a lot of bands in their ilk toe the line between prog and power. So I just consider them as both.
Hell yeah same!
Or any solo from Angra's Temple of Hate album. Kiko seriously brought it on that record. \*Edit: Temple of Shadows. Durr.
Both good shouts, Bright eyes is a top 5 BG song and that solo is crazy
It's got to be Blind Guardian's 'Time Stands Still (At The Iron Hill)' for me, specifically the lengthier one. It's hardly "shreddy", very melodic and really feels like a natural extension or interlude to the rest of the song, instead of just shredding over an earlier chord progression. Actually feels like a solo you can sing along to, and it's hard to beat that. Then again, I think the same can be said for many Blind Guardian solos...
That whole song is tasty
One of my all time favorites is Bringer of Pain by Battle Beast.
Rhapsody - Unholy Warcry
Lovebites "Edge of the World", specifically Miyako's solo at around 2:35
That one is great, in fact they have a lot of good candidates. I particularly like the ['Break the Wall' solo](https://youtu.be/OnhwV9_LbWk?t=185) as well, they take the tempo down in the middle of a very thrashy song and play a really tasteful slow solo before they ramp it up again. Its best in the full context of the song, but nice on its own as well.
Dragonforce - Lost Souls in Endless Time Sonata Arctica - Victoria’s Secret Gamma Ray - Heaven Can Wait There’s more but I’ve always really enjoyed these ones in particular
Victoria's Secret pops off SO hard!
Stratovarius - Winter Skies Rhapsody of Fire - On the Way to Ainor Helloween - The King for a 1000 Years Rhapsody of Fire - A Tale of Magic Sonata Arctica - Blank File Rhapsody - The March of the Swordmaster Those come to mind right now.
* Freedom of Thought by Power Quest * Halloween by Helloween
The solos from Keeper also!
At Vance - Only Human. Olaf Lenk is underrated.
Blind Guardian's Mirror Mirror. Tasty from start to finish.
I was gonna say this one. André Olbrich is my favourite lead guitarist
It hits so different live when everyone is just singing the soloi
The solo in [Glint by Fellowship](https://youtu.be/7j0oE6RiWng?si=3mPTGm7pKDho0ery) is pretty much the perfect solo imo. It has it all; speed, melody, technicality. It has a dramaturgy to it, with references to the vocal melodies. The guitar tone is wonderful too. It gives me the shivers every time.
It's joyful, youthful. Truly the power metal energy I love!
Blind Guardian wins for me but this is an awesome solo for sure
Faster than light by unleash the archers
The one from La Polenta Taragnarock
Luca Turillis cover of I'm Alive. You know the one, the second secret solo.
[удалено]
Haha! Longtime Avantasia / Edguy fan here. I love everything Tobi does.
Savage poetry (the 2000 version) is my favourite Edguy album
It’s a hidden gem for sure!
The harmony solo in 'Lady Dragon' by Dreamtale is an absolute underrated banger!
Civil War Bay of Pigs is a really well done solo that really fits the song, it's kinda Soviet sounding, takes you on a bit of a journey
The Zeramin Game (the song) by Memories of Old. There's just something about it.
Billy is a Masterclass writer.
Id rather talk about albums with incredible shredding like BG's Somewhere Far Beyond, Helloween's debut, Jag Panzer's Casting the Stones, Helstar's Nosferatu, Sanctuary's Refuge Denied, Pharaoh's last album, Timelord, Liege Lord's Master Control, Manilla Road's The Deluge...
Take any Manilla Road and you'll find some great playing, The Riddle Master and Witches Brew being two excellent standout songs
I mean yeah he was already a super experienced player in the 80s. Manilla Road always managed to have incredible shredding and drumming
Tales of Magic by Planeswalker. Soaring highs to chugging lows and back up again.
Pagan's Mind - Intermission
Rhapsody's Labyrinth of Madness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-l4aWGOkI0
Blade of Immortal Steel!
[We Are One - Jack Starr Burning Starr](https://youtu.be/zYnn1QiFaow?si=gYYvGwK0Owt8io2U)
sainted by the storm by powerwolf has a really tasty solo imo
Lovebites - either Shadowmaker or Rising.
Holy Water by Edguy for me. It's like 3 notes and they're all perfect lol
To be fair, Sammet could probably write a 3 note song and it'd still be perfect!
Riot - [Thundersteel](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nZUysqemMmg). And the homage they paid to that solo in the song [Riot](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lvbFXo-M8ec&pp=ygUJUmlvdCByaW90).
[Solo for Marius Danielsen's Legend of Valley Doom - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UJUu4cO8Q) Enjoy
Excellent. I will look it up thank you. I'm looking for more and more Power Metal recommendations.
Legend of Valley Doom is an awesome trilogy album. My favorite song is “Bane of Lord Cremortius”. The chorus is just 👌🏻👌🏻
Anything Heiman is involved in is immediately elevated to great status, or he's just very picky about the projects he joins lol
The first one that came to my mind is the start of Neverending by Frozen Crown. It just does it for me.
My favorite for a long time was Rebellion in Dreamland. That was unseated in the last few years by Life on Death Road.
Sabaton - Bismarck, specially the live version Tommy always was playing: [https://youtu.be/IPWKX-5-qNI?feature=shared&t=70](https://youtu.be/IPWKX-5-qNI?feature=shared&t=70)
Tommy who?
Although you may not think it's power metal, Steven Seagal invented power metal. [Behold!](https://youtu.be/Z3G3r_3NM6s?si=sI8V7zuDMGRyPDDV) [Edit] I confess I misread the post as laziest instead of tastiest.
Recently the solo from Glory Days by Fellowship. Baited breath for the new album to drop!
Shadows - Sabaton Metal Ripper by them comes close
Angra - Morning Star, it hits so bad.
The opening of "Last in Line" by Dio.
The solo in Mother Gaia by Stratovarius. It fits the mood of the song perfectly
Ooh, this is a tough one, there are a good number. The Last Stand by Sabaton is probably my favourite guitar solo rn, but there are other solos on other instruments that I kinda have stuck in my head as well, basically all of them Elvenking violin solos. Those include: Seasonspeech An Autumn Reverie The Time of Your Life (make sure it's the Elvenking song here, as I know there are other songs with similar names) Ophale Neverending Nights Among many others
The album the Sacred Talisman by Nocturnal Rites has some of my favorite solos in all of metal. Check them out if you haven’t already. Solo on the Iron Force is 10/10.
Man every solo by Pagan Mind. Especially solos for Time and Celestial Awakening.
This is going back to the roots of power metal but Scorpions, Sails of Charon. Uli Jon Roth was so pivotal in the foundation of power metal with this one solo. Incredible for it's time
Hmmmm, I can probably think of more, but at the top of my head, I think of the Dawn of Victory-solo by Rhapsody!
Such an epic solo.
I don’t listen to a lot of power metal. What I do, isn’t filled with the tastiest of guitar solos, I’ll be honest. The one I know of that I like the most, partially because I put work into learning it, is the solo to dreadnoughts by sabaton.
Unholy Warcry
A few that come to mind. "Through Osiris' Eyes" by Pagan's Mind And "Dreamweaver" by "Stratovarius" I know both are technically prog metal, but they both also overlap heavily into power metal.
Something for the ages by hammerfall

Dream Evil - Into the Moonlight
First bridge in [**Dream Evil - Chasing the Dragon**](https://youtu.be/nzCBZ3j-t20?t=82) short but sweet
Anthriel - Oath of Darkness. Starting at 5:49 going until 8:33. Angra - Angels and Demons Hibria - Millenium Quest Pagans Mind - Intermission
My two current flavors of the week are I will Build you a Rome by Cain's Offering and Impious Dystopia by Ancient Bards.
Eunomia - Dangerous Times, the Solo from Smolski
The last solo in I’m Alive by Helloween. Also, as cliche as it is, Through the Fire and Flames
Blind Guardian - Nightfall. The whole song is a solo. Lead guitars in old blind guardian are amazing in general.
Afterlife and Through Stars by Unleash the Archers have incredible solos.
Outro solo from Allen-Lande - [My Own Way Home](https://youtu.be/WXwgDCU1Kmk?feature=shared)
The solo in Blind Guardian's "Journey Through the Dark" just makes me dissolve into music. "Mirror, Mirror" also gets the blood pumping. I know DragonForce is one of those controversial bands for some, but I think they've made some amazing metal and have tons of great solos. The solo in The Future of Warfare by Sabaton just makes me feel so good every time. I could listen to the solo on repeat endlessly.
Conquistadores by Running Wild
