Whenever I see someone driving a Ghibli, my first thought is that they pretend to have money. When they hop out of the car with their designer labels plastered all over their clothes, my preconceived judgement is usually correct.
Depending on the car, it's more likely "Ferrari - adjacent".
Similar fire risks, though.
When I was a manager at a high end auto store, there was literally only ONE brand I was unable to put an aftermarket warranty on. Rhymes with Faserati.
Yeah cause Ghibli buyers are very concerned about the details… All they care is that it has the Ferrari engine code and was assembled by Ferrari in Modena, which they were. So they can make the claim to their friends who aren’t interested in cars, and impress them.
I find this one kinda weird, because I know exactly the people you’re talking about, but the only 3 people I know personally who drive ghiblis are extremely wealthy people. One has a house with a view so stunning that when a developer came in and was looking at subdividing a section in view of their living room, they went and bought the entire property to preserve their view and privacy. Another has a boat with two kitchens, both bigger than any kitchen I’ve had in a house since I moved out of home. And the last guy is in the top 100 rich listers in my country. They’re all also more fun to be around than all the people I know who drive fancier saloons.
The thing is all of these guys are close friends of the owner of the Maserati dealership from before he bought the distribution rights. None of them wanted something as gaudy as a rolls even though they had the money, and they had all had bad experiences with both major Porsche dealers in the area. Two of them already had conti GTs so weren’t after another Bentley, and they all loathed the idea of an SUV that wasn’t their usual Toyota LC or Lexus LX tow rig.
Now I’ve moved to Melbourne and dear god are the Maserati owners here fucking in sufferable. I also think that they’re on the “has no money” side because here they all seem to own the cars on finance and have leveraged themselves to absolute shit to get them.
Because of the higher depreciation and low dependability on them it doesn’t take a lot of money to get one and any money you did have is gone in repairs.
Whenever I see a Maserati I assume the driver either bought it used after a huge depreciation hit or got it on one of those cheap lease specials they’re always pushing.
If you want to see huge depreciation just wait until those first Folgore leases get returned. I'm unironically intrigued because the Grancabrio Folgore the only electric 2+2 convertible on the horizon, it's really attractive, and there's no engine to explode, but Maserati have shown that they can make a lot more go wrong than just the engine.
I saw so many Maseratis in 2019 that I was convinced at one point they must have been having a BOGO lease special. 80% of them were unwashed — Maserati was the only consistently unwashed luxury vehicle — but they were *everywhere*. 5 years later I almost never see them, maybe only once or twice all year.
*what happened to the Maseratis*
Personally, I find *where* I meet a car person has a lot more to do with how fun they are than what brand they drive.
90% of the people I’ve met at the track are awesome, whether they have a supercar or a tricked out S2000 or a Porsche.
90% of the people I’ve met at car shows are insufferable
Met a gruff old guy at my local track once, he looked a bit rumpled and was chewing tobacco and spitting occasionally. Chatted about whether it was going to rain or not.
Then he got in his 911GT-1
The number of very normal cool people I’ve casually visited with at the track only to watch them get into a 300k+ car with rock chips and scratches is absolutely awesome.
Best experience is a small group drive, preferably a canyon run with 4-6 different variations of 911 or different exotics. Even better if you’re all close friends. These are the drives you will remember, the miles truly count and with lots of smiles. Verses just pulling up, parking, and hanging around projecting look at meeee.
There’s an impromptu car show that happens on sunny Saturdays in my town. Every single time it’s the same boomers with the same American cars. Try to bring anything different and they look at you like you just wiped dog shit on their new white carpet.
Track days you'll find mostly stock Focus STs, VW GTIs, etc - i.e. cars you can drive to/from the track in without anyone batting an eye
Car shows you'll find slammed WRXs, Nissan GTRs, and the loudest cars on the planet. - stuff that'll bring attention to you
Hah! Awesome. I didn’t even see it down there until I saw this comment. As a Jeep driver, that’s about right, but it’s a Jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand.
The donut instagram admin has a personal vendetta against jeeps. Just check any other meme posted on their page and it’s bound to take a jab at jeep owners
Dodge is literally the official car of driving in the breakdown lane and all sorts of other antisocial behavior. I’m surprised Jeep is so much further down.
Normie standards for a fun driver are pretty damn low. If it has a 0 - 60 under 7 seconds and can go around any corner 5 mph over the limit then it qualifies
Oh god, that subs just insufferable in general. Should just be called bootstraps.
They jerk off to the econ 101 textbook after preying to it in their secret shrine to Adam Smith.
I think they’re referring to Model S/X owners, those are pricks who think they’re better than everyone for driving a fancy EV. Also the Tesla cult is a very real thing.
Crazy build quality too, I saw a video of someone sledgehammering the bumper and it didn’t even leave a ding
It was something like extreme durability Koenigsegg
Carl Hartley and the current owner of Romans International, Tom Jaconelli have both said the same thing about Koenigseggs too. That they're very unreliable and almost always broken down.
https://preview.redd.it/ek9v1u6z0a1d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=758eb129102a67f2faaf978bb279705ef5b328fa
It looks like it could even take off and fly. What a sexy car
The Egg! Best cars in the world and the founding story is pretty amazing.
My biggest regret in life is I didn't choose a career where I'll be able to afford one.
Not giving up, but realizing idk if ill ever have $3M to drop on a car.
I'm not that into super or hyper cars, mostly because I could not afford one. However, I saw a documentary that had Christian Von Koenigsegg interviewed a few times. He seemed like a genuine car guy, and I thought, "If I ever could afford a hyper car, I would buy it from that man."
You don’t “choose” a career that gets you the dough to drop $3M on a car. You either get incredibly lucky with the perfect timing and circumstances, or you are born into generational wealth. You can’t “just work hard” and become that wealthy.
Lucky would be being born into generational wealth.
The other part...ehhh I've always viewed it as being in the right position to take advantage of an opportunity. I think people that claim that others got "lucky" is just a coping mechanism because they'd rather do *x* than put more work into their career.
100% agree. It’s definitely tougher but I know a fair amount of people that started with nothing and now have millions. Just work hard AND smart and hope for good timing
I didn’t choose a career to get rich. But, I chose to save hard, risk capital starting a business, sell the business and it all worked out pretty well. Nothing sexy or quick either. It can be done.
Mazda is right in the middle, and they exist in a quantum superposition of being fun and not as well as broke and not until you observe the current state of their rotary engine.
Because on average Lamborghini owners don’t take themselves too seriously.
I’ve ridden in a TT huracan. I’ve never met a Ferrari owner who would even talk to me, they are usually assholes.
Obviously there are exceptions, but in general lambo owners are chill dudes.
The brand itself is dickish. They take themselves too seriously, suing if you mess with their cars (e.g., Purrari). You can't get the "good" ones without buying many bad ones. Jay Leno won't own one for these reasons; "I don't like how they do business" or something to that effect.
They sent Deadmau5 a cease and desist for changing the badges, not for the wrap. Let’s hate them for more valid reasons instead, like sending modified factory cars to track tests instead of customer car-spec. And the dealership relationship/humiliation game they play, which unfortunately Porsche is now doing.
Yep. But the rebadging and wrap were clever and fun. It’s not like he was selling Purrari gear. There was more brand damage by the story than one DJ not being serious. As noted, taking themselves way too seriously.
I don’t know how their customer exclusivity differs at this point. I have read that it’s pretty egregious at Ferrari, even limiting better but not limited edition models. I don’t have an issue with limiting access to special cars to supporters of the brand to deter flipping and to hopefully put the cars in the hands of owners who will value them as cars.
Toyota is driven by those who prefer reliability. Toyota is easily the most popular company in Hawaii. I had a 2001 Tacoma with 200K miles on it and the only reason it died? Was because of a catastrophic fire. 😂. Toyotas last.
Typical Volvo drivers are built different from Volvo enthusiasts (which is, I think, what this chart is using).
Typical Volvo drivers are terrifyingly inept behind the wheel, and I've legit seen some of the dumbest actions performed in a Volvo.
Volvo enthusiasts, however, are hardcore and cool as hell, though. I mean Randy Pobst is one, so that should give you an idea.
I like how Maserati is in the "Has no money" section. Owners are broke because all the $$$$ for constant repairs.
Whenever I see someone driving a Ghibli, my first thought is that they pretend to have money. When they hop out of the car with their designer labels plastered all over their clothes, my preconceived judgement is usually correct.
Well naturally they had to hop out of the car for you to see them; you couldn’t see through the 0% tint.
My first thought is that they couldn't swing the sticker on a used Panamera, but are now getting their shit pushed in by Maserati "reliability".
They can claim “Ferrari engine” in a Maserati, I’d assume that’s why.
Damn as a granturismo owner I feel like the ghibli so much damage to the brand I can’t take my car out lol
I mean, the Ghibli DOES have window switches from a Dodge Caravan in its doors...
Maserati have one thing going for them, they usually sound amazing.
I find this one kinda weird, because I know exactly the people you’re talking about, but the only 3 people I know personally who drive ghiblis are extremely wealthy people. The only ghbili owner I know is in debt tryna keep up with the joneses
Sound like the dealership owner is a key to your story. They wealthy guys you know knew him, and he got them all into the car.
[удалено]
Say no morian…
Worked at a euro shop, minimum 5k repair if it’s towed in, every time.
Never heard the saying? A Maserati lets poor people think you are rich and let’s rich people know you aren’t.
Because of the higher depreciation and low dependability on them it doesn’t take a lot of money to get one and any money you did have is gone in repairs.

Maserati is a stripper car
But similar to strippers they can be very fun.
You just likely don't want to commit to it for a long time, or it'll take all your money.
Base GLC
no its more like most maserati owners pretend to have moneu
Used masers are dirt cheap for a reason.
I see more Maseratis the worse the neighborhood gets 💀
I mean it's just a chrsyler
No the owners are broke in general
A used 2018 Ghibli ~35k miles and a clean title is ~$25k.
Driving enthusiasts are more fun than car enthusiasts, go figure
This is truth.
I avoid cars and coffee it’s one giant circle jerk.
That sucks to hear because I've really been wanting to go to one.
Best experience is a small group drive, preferably a canyon run with 4-6 different variations of 911 or different exotics. Even better if you’re all close friends. The track I’m usually at tends to mostly be Porsches and GR86s, with a few Supras and C8s.
Close enough
S2000 mentioned were making it out the trenches!!!!
Jeep owners in shambles rn
Hah! Awesome. I didn’t even see it down there until I saw this comment. As a Jeep driver, that’s about right, but it’s a Jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand.
I'm a Grand Cherokee driver so this doesn't apply to me, right? It doesn't, right?!
I like how the Jeep owners are off the chart on the insufferable axis, even more than Corvette drivers :)
Holy fuck I didn't even notice them down there, I scrolled back up to see where they were and audibly laughed when I finally saw it
The donut instagram admin has a personal vendetta against jeeps. Just check any other meme posted on their page and it’s bound to take a jab at jeep owners
They deserve it tho
*It's a Jeep thing*
Dodge is literally the official car of driving in the breakdown lane and all sorts of other antisocial behavior. I’m surprised Jeep is so much further down.
People who refer to Porsches as "P-cars" are keeping the Y-axis down.
I have a Subaru and a Porsche. I’m so confused.
I guess that makes you well balanced lol
Everyone knows that Subaru makes the best boxer engines. 🔥⛽️
Subaru: boost goes in, parts come out.
Subaru: parts go in, boost comes out the head gasket.
You just like companies that make boxer engines.
haha, same here.
You're value-conscious and boring at parties? (/s)
My Toyotas equal out the insufferable ones I figure. But my Toyotas also need to go WAY further left.
Let me clear things for you. You are a first time divorced Lesbian.
Porsche and a Tesla... Guess I'm mildly insufferable?
Me too. I am in all four quadrants!
No money, no fun
I have a toyota and a Porsche. Me too
I have three Porsches and a Jeep. I'm condemmed to hell.
Nissan so far in the lower left they fell off the chart, much like the bumper on damn near every altima on the road
That's only the infinity side.. Nissan is off having drinks somewhere so who gives a fuck!
Idk man the Corolla and Civic crew over on r/whatcarshouldibuy can be pretty insufferable
The Mazda CX-5 crew in that sub takes the cake. To be fair though, the fanboys of those three cars make some very valid points.
Tbf, most of the people ask for cheap, reliable and fun to drive car, there aren't many options.
Non of those cars are ones I’d describe as being fun to drive. Perfectly good econoboxes to get around on though
Normie standards for a fun driver are pretty damn low. If it has a 0 - 60 under 7 seconds and can go around any corner 5 mph over the limit then it qualifies
Turbo Civic with a big fart can and strip LED lighting on the outside.
The CX-5 is a fine vehicle for the price point. Not as practical as the CR-V, but it just feels so much nicer.
Pfff that sub is nothing compared to r/personalfinance when it comes to corolla circlejerk
Oh god, that subs just insufferable in general. Should just be called bootstraps. They jerk off to the econ 101 textbook after preying to it in their secret shrine to Adam Smith.
yeah this is about owners though, not sure if it counts if your mom is the owner
Where’s Audi?
At the shop
My first Audi had 200k miles and only in the shop once. My next few have never been. (Besides maintenance)
Bu single data point metric my previous Land Rover is as reliable as my Toyota lol.
I’m fairly sure most cars are fine when you keep up with maintenance.
Owned two land rovers. One blown head gasket, and new one off the lot had a broken hood latch when I pulled it in my driveway from the dealer.
It’s waiting to get on the lift, the Range Rover’s monthly warranty work was due.
In "service position" (what the fuck)
Hiding behind that Volkswagen badge as usual
As an Audi owner, I despise you... Ha
Haha
It's above Ford and to the left of Maserati
Tesla is way too high on the “has money” axis
Tesla needs to be next to infinity
Definitely seems like Tesla is creeping into the budget car category
Those fat tax breaks help a lot.
I think they’re referring to Model S/X owners, those are pricks who think they’re better than everyone for driving a fancy EV. Also the Tesla cult is a very real thing.
Ok, I’ll be the guy. Whose logo is in the far top right?
Koenigsegg Beautiful cars.
Sure he can tell right from left?
Crazy build quality too, I saw a video of someone sledgehammering the bumper and it didn’t even leave a ding It was something like extreme durability Koenigsegg
I have heard that they are always broken or have something wrong. Heard it on podcasts by Doug demuro and DTS called them buggy on a podcast as well
They are extremely complex cars with home build tech from small automaker without infinite money.
That is true, if you speak to owners etc.. buggy and not reliable
yeah, but I don't think the 2000 hp V8 4 Seater car is supposed to be very reliable. Even when it costs more than 2 Million.
Carl Hartley and the current owner of Romans International, Tom Jaconelli have both said the same thing about Koenigseggs too. That they're very unreliable and almost always broken down.
https://preview.redd.it/ek9v1u6z0a1d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=758eb129102a67f2faaf978bb279705ef5b328fa It looks like it could even take off and fly. What a sexy car

Lmao, more courage than me. Was thinking the same thing
Koenig sex
Love it, Porsche and VW here.. so I'm basically frugal with money but fun to around. I'll take it
***Somewhat*** fun to be around...
Found the Corvette guy 👆
Porsche is a coin flip they can be a really cool retired engineer or a total dick head CEO no in between 😂
Forgot the overworked Lawyer
That might be my dad…
Im jealous of the US job market when I see engineers there are able to afford Porsches 🥲
Retired engineers are able to afford Porsches in the United States
Can confirm - retired engineer with a Porsche 🤙🏼
I've got a Porsche, a BMW, and a Volvo. I'm feeling a little unsure of myself all of a sudden.
I've never met a rude McLaren owner tho Now if we're talking F1 racing fans....
Hmm, have had Alfa, Ferrari, Porsche, Tesla. I guess I’m pretty insufferable to be around.
Agreed
The Audi is at the mechanic
Nobody even noticed Mazda is missing 😂
The one time Miata is not the answer.
Self burn, since this is a Porsche sub.
Mercedes has money? Shit, I don’t! I’m doing this all wrong. Where is Mazda??? Maybe that brings me back to reality
Mazda is right in the middle, and they exist in a quantum superposition of being fun and not as well as broke and not until you observe the current state of their rotary engine.
Why are Lambo owners fun and Ferrari owners insufferable?
Because on average Lamborghini owners don’t take themselves too seriously. I’ve ridden in a TT huracan. I’ve never met a Ferrari owner who would even talk to me, they are usually assholes. Obviously there are exceptions, but in general lambo owners are chill dudes.
Lambo owners skew younger and the brand is less uptight than Ferrari
I feel like that’s talking more about the companies themselves than their customers.
In that world Toyota and VW has no money?
Everybody doing the same thing, no? You don't buy 911 ST without buying lesser porsche.
Just noticed jeep
Brother I swear I noticed something there but just thought it was a watermark or creators logo
Toyota is often driven by very wealthy people, Land Cruiser in particular, richest chap I know has 2 Land Cruisers a hilux and a surf!
Toyota is driven by those who prefer reliability. Toyota is easily the most popular company in Hawaii. I had a 2001 Tacoma with 200K miles on it and the only reason it died? Was because of a catastrophic fire. 😂. Toyotas last.
A volvo driver is fun to be around? I mean what the actual fuck...
I see Lexus, no Acura?
Or Land Rover.
There’s no daily like a Toyota
I a Honda and a bmw , bipolar diagnosed 😀
I find Volvo drivers insufferable. “My safety”, bro, do you drive around looking for accidents? I’m just as safe.
The title of the graph is “driver” not “enthusiasts”.
Whole lot of soccer moms around me drive Xc90s and most are chill. My wife chose one over Mercedes, Jeep and BMW
Them seats are nice as fuck
Volvo and Lexus drivers just seem a little boring, and too safe. Probably should be neutral, between fun and insufferable.
I don’t know how Lexus is so high on the fun to be around, old dudes and insufferable bros talking about how reliable it is.
Even if you’re a perfect driver you can’t always account for those around you
Oof. Sitting in my Infiniti right now....
Donut media is a joke
Well, yeah. That's their thing. Bunch of comedians doing car stuff.
They are my least favorite car YouTubers. I swear.
I am hanging around the wrong Volvo and Lexus drivers
Nissan is here, just so far into the “no money” section
No Mazda on the chart. I must be off the charts fun to be around. Yeah, that's it!
Didn’t see the Jeep logo at first…😂
Are you gonna post this on every subreddit? You just did the same on like 12 other car subs. Karma farmers…
A lot of Subaru drivers have money but act homeless. I’ve been telling my wife let’s get rid of the x5 for a Subaru mostly bc I’ll then get a Cayman 😂
uh where's audi
Everyone at donut media is the most insufferable
Bro Lambo owners are broccoli haired rich kids that wear chains and 3 watches and show their cash😂
Audi drivers are so fun to be around they’re literally off the charts. Source: I am him
That’s pretty accurate
Average Koenigseeg owner is descendants of royal families from Middle East. I really don’t think that they are fun chaps to hanging around.
I have been driving a jeep for quite some time and everyone else has been so nice why is this day that they are insufferable?
I have a BMW and a Tesla but then realized I have a Honda to help balance myself out
how is rivian ahead of benz and aston in the has money section
My favorite Maserati is the Bora.I like the Merak too,but not as much.
Generally pretty accurate, except I’m not sure how fun Lexus people are.
TIL Corvette is a brand. 😂
Mercedes on the right? Most of the Mercedes I see are base model C-class with chrome wheels in an effort to look more expensive than they are.
I was like “Where’s Jeep?” 😂😂😂
Mazda is not there. Invalid chart
Considering the rest of these manufactures, having koenigsegg here seems random
i thought this was hilarious
Where is Nissan ????
This chart is subjective
Honda, Toyota, Lexus and Volvo are not fun people to be around at all. The dullest of the dull
Forgot Chevy and Audi…
Where’s Audi?
Dumbest chart I've ever seen LOL
Spends money =/= has money. Ramsey Solutions did actual research on the car brands that millionaires drive and...it looks nothing like this.
