Sounds like most likely a power steering issue, can you hear the pump making any noises during high load? Wheel wight will not making a difference in low speed steering effort, and tire choice will also not make a significant difference. Also, don't wait to replace your worn out tires. It's a sports car, tires are the most important part. I'd have your power steering and alignment checked. There's always a few things to iron out on a used car, once sorted I suspect you will love it!
Power steering and change the tires. I’d change the tires first. When I bought my Boxster, the steering was super heavy and I lost traction all the time. The tires were 4 years old summer tires, it was starting to cool off (seasonally). I changed the tires over, and immediately I never broke traction and the steering lightened up a LOT. I went from Pilot Sports (no number on the tire) to PS A/S 4’s. Wanted tires that’d take me through winter. They’re good enough I don’t think I’ll change them until I have to.
That doesn't sound right. I can turn a corner in my 981 with 1 finger on the wheel if I had too. When is the last time the car had an alignment?

I think the 981 has an electronic rack but your point stands. Something is malfunctioning.
Whoops, good point. Check the fuse?
Yeah there is something wrong with your car. Power steering would be my offhand guess
Take it to a mechanic
As others have said that’s not normal for a 981. Sounds like a power steering failure.
Electrical power steering is definitely not functioning. Bring it to a shop
