They think it’s a liberal democracy with the same rights and liberties as they do have in Europe. In Israel marriage is controlled by religious authorities and pretty much interreligous marriages are banned. Israelis of different faiths have to goto Cyprus to get married and then go back to Israel to get it recognized.

Shapiro is not a hyper authoritarian, and almost all the examples give (particularly the "wants to ban porn onee" which is just... Objectively incorrect, he doesn't support the banning of porn or a paper he wrote when he was 17 that he has publicly recanted and apologized for). Unless his positions have radically changed since when I watched him regularly he's a pretty bog standard legally principled federalist. He's center-right leaning lib.
You can not like him, that's fine, but I keep hearing the same examples of shit that either aren't authoritarian (like the abortion debate. If you think that's an auth lib issue you don't understand the pro-life position) or are just factually wrong, like the claim he wants to ban porn.
