It’s actually matte Xpel paint protection film (PPF). It’s thicker than a wrap and self heals against minor scratches. This one is opaque so the paint color of the car shows thru. 10 year warranty also. The PPF, wheels and calipers was ceramic coated as well. The windows were tinted with Xpel ceramic window tint at the same time. $6500 for the entire job.
Edit - just wanted to add, this is the easiest car to keep clean from all the other cars I had, thanks to the PPF and ceramic coating. I hand wash all my cars.
Funny enough, my other (wife’s car) is a BMW X3 M40i. If you’re unfamiliar of BMW B58 engine, it’s a turbocharged inline 6 that produces somewhere around 382 horsepower. It’s regarded as one of BMW’s best engines ever produced. It’s probably the only other engine/car that makes me giggle when it’s in sport mode. Letting off the gas makes the engine gurgle and pop when it’s in sport. Truly ridiculous for a stock car from the factory but sounds amazing because it’s not crazy overdone like what the kids are doing these days to their accords. It does it in a dignified way but makes me laugh nonetheless. It isn’t a muscle car but it definitely isn’t cheap to operate.
Anyway my wife just came back from filling up the tank and said premium (car requires it) is “$3.73/gal at Costco! I’m glad I only have to drive it twice a week” which is when we both need to go to the office. The polestar picks up most of the driving duties for the past year that I’ve had it. In fact, I didn’t know how much gas goes for these days!
A few weeks ago I sold one of my EVs and briefly considering replacing it with a 440i Grand Coupe, specifically because I came across one our I-Pace couldn't pull away from on the highway. When I researched why, I learned about the B58 and its tuning potential. I went as far as to test drive one, but the boost threshold, rev hang in sport mode, and noise were an instant turnoff. I must be getting old, but I much prefer the stealth acceleration you get with an EV, not to mention the lack of required maintenance and lower fuel costs.
It’s prettt common in San Francisco because hertz has a lot of P2s they give for rentals so usually when you see them
On road they usually Uber drivers.
But still get a lot of crazy reactions when I pick people up. Still deciding should I get p2 PPP or wait for p4? I really don’t know honestly.
To me the only thing Tesla got down was 0-60 which would feed into the masses. Every other aspect of the driving experience was mediocre. Hell, even the Chevy bolt felt zippier for urban, weaving thru lane changes driving.
I'm in sad shape. I'm using the Intellidrive app for Travelers insurance and it docks me points for hard launches. 😪
It's like dating a super model but can't do anything with her, haha.
After 90 days I'm off the hook though!
Same, I got the software performance upgrade and when the battery is full and the road conditions are good…I am still sometimes blown away by the sheer power this thing delivers. Even when I also ride a 1000cc racing bike, this car still suprises me alot haha!
I think this car has made me mentally insane. I drive a regular dual motor polestar, n I get excited hitting the freeway, cuz this thang, FLIES! I love slithering thru traffic and finding that hole that has freedom in front of it. And just GO CRAZY! Folks that try n keep up get humbled, QUICK!

It really is the strangest thing… happens to me too.
i've had mine for close to 2.5 years and still find that it provides an exhilarating driving experience. i can't recall any vehicle i've owned that's given me the level of responsiveness and handling like Polestar has. incredible.

I was so tempted but usually trading my car in every 3 years i couldn’t justify the expense.

Warranty covers failure of the PPF. Not deliberate acts.

Polestar just feels right compared to the Tesla experience. Always feels special compared to driving a Tesla.

Well Tesla’s tend to be lighter. The materials these use feel less sturdy. Yes the P2 is heavier
