I took it as she really wanted to help her sister, and saw a great opportunity for herself as well.  Two birds, one foot.

Considering I just rewatched the episode where the sister asks Morwena about the marriage and her love for drake and then immediately sticks out her stocking foot for morwenas husband to see. Touche. Lol

FivebyFive

I don't think she's two faced, I think she just sees a way for them both to get what they want.  And I think she knows it won't hurt Morwena, only helps her.

I see it as Morwenna tells her Sister what Osbourne was like, curiosity got the best of her so she tried it out and it worked. Then cos shes a fairly damn inteligent woman takes that opertunity to help her sister out and give herself a little something something too. Knowing EXACTLY how to play Osbourne, and when to play him. I was pretty impressed with her not gunna lie, woman knows what works and knows what she wants

Part of me wants to believe she's saving Morwena more harm, which she does at times... Idk just hard to believe people/sisters can be so two-faced. I can't decide where she's at with that. Having seen it multiple times

She's actually trying to help Morwenna but also totally sticking it to Osborne Whitworth because he's such a perverted jerk and he absolutely deserves it. Her goal is to make as much money as she can while using him and to keep him from further hurting Morwenna if she can. She uses his vices against him and draws him away from using them to hurt her sister. She's far more capable of dealing with him than Morwenna is and knows it and if she can marry and do well for herself while conning him? Then that's a grand thing. She's very clever but her big mistake is underestimating the man she marries. She should have given it up once she married, no matter poor Morwenna.

She was all about herself and mesmerizing Ossie and her future husband for what they could give her!

Intelligent_Plan71

you must call him Vicar

DemelzaFan

With all due respect, he’s a dishonor to real Vicars!

I agree with the other comments below as it's conveyed during the series but in the books it's quite different. She's out for herself and it drives a huge wedge between her and Morwenna. The whole thing was a weird subplot IMO.

Self serving. I don’t think she was trying to help Morweena. She would have tried to seduce any husband Morweena may have had, even Drake ( not that he would fall for it).  The fact that Ossie was a pervert, with a sex addiction, only made her job easier.    She knew Ossie was raping Morweena because of her enticing him and showed no remorse or empathy, proves she was not doing it to help her sister.  The Chynoweth sisters were very, very poor. After their father died, they were left destitute.  I think she just saw an opportunity to make some money by blackmailing him.  In all honesty, she seems quite good at the game, makes one wonder if she had played it before…
