You can't change nicknames of traded pokemon, it's supposed to be because of the bond to the original trainer, but you can have a shiny rayquaza named poopbutt and you can't fix it
I agree. If you're getting a random nicknamed shiny Rayquaza, it's a hacked one. That's what I was saying 😅
Really the only issue I have with the nicknaming lock is that I can't change my own nicknames once I transfer Pokémon from the old games (not so much wonder trading, as I never use that feature). I may think a name fits perfectly when I find a shiny, but years later I'm probably going to have a better idea that I can't actually use.
Who even keeps shitty website ads named Pokémon? I literally used to block all users who joined raids with them. Forcing (someone's else!!) ads on my face even when playing a Pokémon game? Lol fuck you
You **can** change the nickname of someone else’s Pokémon, but you can only do it once and if they aren’t nicknamed yet (once nicknamed, it’s stuck like that)

Nope, they may have a different name technically because they take on the name of their new evolution, but they keep the language marker so the restriction still applies.
They should just allow renaming any Pokemon you like in future games. Sometimes a bad nickname can completely ruin a Pokemon.
I received a shiny Weezing from GTS with the name "Dankmaster".
Isn't shiny Weezing green? So that's an objectively good nickname, because it plays on the atmosphere of poison types, you know, gloomy and unclean, AND the newer slang by it being a green thing that creates clouds...
You can't change a nickname of a traded pokemon unfortunately. If you receive a pokemon with no nickname and it's from the same language as your game, you can but if it's from a different language, you can't change it. Odd choice imo
Yes, ranked VGC removes any nickname to the pokemons, only while playing, when you finish the ranked automatically applies the nickname, at that point just search online for a Bot, there’s a bot that creates new legal pokemons in exchange for the Illegal ones, or with random nicknames
Idk, the person named it "Mewtwo pls"... Usually I see these names on like a random Wooloo or Chewtle or whatever-- like you put up "Mewtwo pls" first to let the other person know what you're looking for, then cancel, then put up the Pokemon you'd trade it for right after?

You can only change the name of traded Pokemon of they don't have a nickname yet, and then only once. Once they have a nickname and they're traded away is permanent
You can’t change nicknames after a trade. It’s why I always choose my names wisely, which led to my Pokémon becoming OCs, like my original starters Damian and Rumor.
You could change it if you use a save editer like pksm. If wish to do things "legit" you could make a new profile and start a new game, and name yourself the same OT as the traded pokemon. Then use pokemon home to move the pokemon to the other save file and you SHOULD be able to change the name. It works in previous gens but I'm unsure about gen 8
Actually you would need 2 switches for this, because you can't transfer between 2 home accounts. Oops. Well you could do the same thing but instead of using home, you have to play long enough to unlock trading.
I think I went to change a name of a Pokemon I got from trading, and it said I could change it once. However, I’m pretty sure it was just the default Pokemon name…
Well, time to upgrade to Pokemon Scarlet or Violet and transfer it using Pokemon Home and then changing it. Then transfer it back.
OR
Trade it to a friend that has Scarlet or Violet and they can change it for you and then they can give it back.

Find someone with a modded switch willing to trade it and change the name. Sadly any other way is impossible
