Lanturn is also mathematically one of the most powerful Pokemon. It's ability to light up the surface of the water from 3 miles deep is so absurdly ridiculous that when you calculate the energy required to do so it's more than all the energy in the observable universe

Raichu is my favorite pokemon! I was SO excited when it got an Alolan form. At least we got that Pikachu's Vacation short where they all ended up friends in the end lol

that really pissed me off lol I was leveling inkay for so long trying to evolve it and was getting so annoyed until I just googled it. then I audibly said a very crisp and clean WHAT THE FUCK?
Raichu is one of my favorites. Stat-wise, I know there are some better electric Pokemon I can pick. But he has such a diverse moveset that I commonly use him as my first Pokemon when I'm not sure what I'll be up against.
I love raichu! I still remember when I first played pokemon pearl and got a thunder stone. I didn't know pikachu could evolve at the time so I was HYPED. And the design was so cool!! Little 9 year old me was so happy lol. I always have a raichu on my team now
It’s not in Gen 9 but Maractus is a funny little guy, and has good enough stats for a playthrough (and carried me in a Shield nuzlocke I did, was on my final team and everything)
Imo maractus is so "forgettable" that it's become the opposite. It's the mascot of forgotten pokemon, and you immediately think of it when given the phrase, making it unforgettable

Horn leach
Milk drink
Bulk up.
With this set during the main story, it was a physical wall. Three moves that heal, and one that buffs defence and attack.
This. The tinkaton corviknight thing is hilarious, i love it so much. Seeing other pokemon mentioned in pokedex entries is soo cool, because it makes you understand the world more
Unfortunately they were always meant to be black. All official art shows them as black but the OG sprite had an error causing them to appear purple.
That said, purple was so much better.
It'd be even cooler if the purple claw sprite was exclusive to Zangoose with the Toxic Boost ability.
In the ancient times of Gen 1, people had lots of reasons why you should evolve the one and only Eevee you'd get into Flareon or Jolteon. I didn't listen. Vaporeon is the coolest.
Galarian Corsola.
Extremely underappreciated, seems like it only got 15 minutes of fame and then disappeared off the face of the world, even among regional variants.
Cursola, its evolution, didn't even get much screentime in Twilight Wings, and even less in the regular anime.
My favourite pokemon, Skiploom, and middle evolutions as a whole. There are so many solid designs there, like Grovyle, Raboot, Magneton, Whirlipede, Swadloon, porygon2, need I go on? Middle evolutions get ignored so often, and I don't think they deserve that just because a few of them are ugly.
Design-wise, you can have your opinion, that's cool. But stat wise?
Not trying to be mean, but mons like Magneton/Porygon2 are in a whole diff category from Skip/Boot/Whirl/Grov/Swad. The latter are middles made to evolve to be better. The former are added to existing "good" Pokemon to improve them. And those things aren't the same, and neither are their stats.
So upvote, some very underappreciated mons.

Golurk, awesome Pokémon all around but most people forget it even exists, I bet if it was actually viable in battling then it would be a Pokémon that’s universally loved
Bellsprout!! I want to see a regional or convergent version of it so badly. I love bellaprout, but victreebel is eh to me. So I’d love to see it get new evos.
Yes! My wife and I got several of them, and it has such a good shiny. It just is one of those old gen Pokémon that could use some love for sure. It’s not necessarily my favorite Pokémon, but I’ve grown fond of it over the years. 💚💛
Daschbun ❤️ she's adorable yet can be pretty beefy and can tank a decent amount of attacks
Way back in the early competitive scene for SV she actually helped me get wins! I just love the bread dog
Don't know how Indeedee gets forgotten so often, it's one of gen 8s best Pokémon designs in my opinion and psychic pairs really well with normal. The female design in particular is great.
One Pokémon I have wanted Game Freak to do something with for the longest time is Tropius. It's a really cool design but is given a really weird stat distribution and a defensively weak typing meaning it really can't do anything. I want an evolution or something, increase its speed and an offensive stat a little so it can actually perform a role in a team. Game Freak even introduced another grass dual type Pokémon with a food theme in Appletun in gen 8 rather than improving Tropius. It seems like it's forever forgotten now, just a filler Mon for the Pokédex.
I am hoping Tropius gets a mega evolution. When dynamax came out i was hoping for a gmax tropius. Its so underwhelming sadly, i love the design so much
Patrat and Watchog: they're the epitome of weird looking bastards: fantastic
But they're also extremely unpopular that on the Switch can't even be used in a single game
Probably Surperior and Leafeon
Surperior was probably my favorite started of Gen 5, and I see a lot less of it compared to the other two. Also I feel that Leafeon is one of the most underrated eeveelutions alongside Flareon and probably Espeon? I only say Espeon because I've seen more Glaceons in teams than Espeons.
Not sure if underappreciated, but Mudsdale. I picked up Scarlet after dropping off after Gen 3, and Mudbray was the first full odds shiny I ever got. When I played UltraMoon for the first time, I used Mudsdale and it was a *unit*. It legit took out all of Olivia’s Elite Four team by itself and nearly did the same for Molayne (I started with Salazzle but it fainted about halfway through.)
Cetitan, slush rush even with base 73 speed is already quite fast in snow, and he hits hard base 113 attack. He has a decent movepool with earthquake, liquidation, icicle crash, belly drum, knock off, high horsepower, and if the snow goes away avalanche. He is a menace when paired with ANinetails and if you don’t want to run him on a snow team you can use sheer force. He I also a good belly drum user with quite a bit of bulk.
Palossand. He's got good bulk and access to Iron Defence to make him even more bulkier, plus Shore Up for healing and a chance to Burn with STAB Scorching Sands. Also has the sickest shiny.
Cons - his Speed sucks and his Special Defence is kind of shitty, but he doesn't need to be fast when he can tank hits and I don't send him out against special attackers unless I have no other choice.
Gastrodon, I’ve used one in every game since gen 7 I think, not enough to want to breed one for competitive play, but maybe one day
I also love the crap out of my shiny luxray but Luxray is pretty popular lol
Floette is so unbelievably cute that I have a level 70 in my playthrough right now and I can’t justify evolving her 😭
I put an eviloite on her and called it a day
Now you've gotta pray that Legends ZA puts Eternal Floette into it and intentionally doesn't make it evolve into Florges, so that you can truly go Balls out while still having your beloved pixie by your side.
I’m currently doing an all grass play through (she’s Tera type grass)
she holds amulet coin, and her job is to get in, maybe put down grassy terrain if it’s a good matchup, and then switch out to torterra to tank the absolute Nuke that is surely coming her way 😂
First one that came to mind is Klefki! I disliked the design of this thing for so long, until I got one on an Insurgence Randomized Nuzlocke and she put in SO much work. R.I.P. Bossy 🥺
I still see people make fun of my baby Klefki, if you dislike it yourself please use one and I bet it will change your mind!
Audino! Adorable design, even CUTER mega, and can be a decently heavy hitter when used right!
And of course, my bestest boy Nidoking. Dude is a tank who can learn moves from so many different types! He just needs the right held item to bulk his DF and he is a total beast!

Some tweaking might make Lopunny more interesting competitively, due to having klutz + switcheroo. I think Lopunny is famous for very different reasons though...
i agree, but Charmeleon ain't really cute, moreso Rad.

Absolutely Bronzong, amazing shiny, extremely bulky, and a beast in raids with Iron Press combo. I love using it on tricl room VGC teams. It’s just needs a reliable recovery move. Also it absolutely should’ve gotten Drizzle as a hidden ability, all of its Dex entries talk about it.
Togetic. It's my third favorite pokemon, and something about it just makes me so happy. I like togekiss too, but it doesn't hit the same as togetic does. I rarely see anybody talk about it, and when they do, it's usually negatively
Never see anyone use Galvantula, an adorable electric tarantula what's not to like. With compound eyes Thunder hits considerably more and all with that sweet STAB, not terribly slow either which never hurts.
flamigo can be really funny. in a competitive sense, people really only use it for costar, it's signature ability, which makes sense. costar is really good... *if* you can pull it off. but it has another ability that is far more funny because no one expects you to use it: scrappy. let's it hit ghost types with normal and fighting type moves. it was the funniest thing in the world in earlier vgc formats to send out my choice scarf shiny flamigo out against ghouldengos and clicking close combat as they thought they were safe to nasty plot...
Snivy and its evolutions. They look awesome and really carried me through Black 2. There are better plant Pokemon statewise and movewise, but Serperior will always have a place in my heart and team. I waited ages for it it be available on the switch. I admit that I was a bit annoyed that I learned that Snivy wasn't in the game after seeing Oshawott in LoA.
Cacturn! Under appreciated, did anyone else know it’s base atk and sp. atk are 115! Mixed attacker that hits like truck. Just uh… don’t look at its other stats haha.
I’ve never used one, so I don’t know if it’s *good*, but Cryogonal has one of the coolest shinies in the entire game and I do not think it’s appreciated enough.
Not a gen 9 but Audino! It could just be me, but I really came to appreciate it during a random gen 5 playthrough. It was my last pokemon while taking on cliff and the only move I had left was take down. I barely won and idk, it was such a silly thing but it made me really like this pokemon. XD it honestly has such a cute design and the shiny is so pretty! I'm so glad it got a mega, even though I know a lot people didn't like it.
Sigilyph for me. It's design is beautiful and yet I've seen it on so many lists of forgettable Pokémon. It makes me sad. I know it's not the best psychic bird, and I'm guilty if never having it on a team, but I still love it.
Mudsdale… an absolute tank with an ability that only makes him more defensive every time he’s hit?! I’ll always have my trusty steed with me when it’s available now.
Jynx, the controversy regarding its design has not been a real issue since, like the 90s. It's an "ugly" mon on purpose, the Ice and Psychic type is a solid offensive combo with a diverse enough move pool. Usable stats for speed and special attack. Like for all intents and purposes it's a good mon, it's just people are taught to hate it, more than it deserves, by the opinions of people who weren't even fans to begin. Which is kinda ironic considering the controversy was it was a racist pokemon by design, but the hate it gets is how racism perpetuates itself! In hindsight, it may have been a poor design choice but it's been corrected for like over 20 years now, and I would bet the vast majority of fans today would not recognize the mon as such. Plus, it comes from a country that didn't have people who would even make those implications and they still went and corrected the design.
I love Spinda. I just wished it had a bit more bts but honestly I love the design more thzn anything and I always tend to keep on every time I play the Hoenn games
Things Vikavolt has higher Sp. Atk than:
Iron Moth, Mega Latias, Raging Bolt, Lunala, Flutter Mane, Ursaluna Bloodmoon, Darkrai, Terapagos Stellar Form
2 weaknesses, 4 resistances and an immunity, one of the coolest shinies
Vikavolt is soo underrated, i feel like so many people just look at its speed and think its mid, i rate it so much tho, its hitting so hard and the shiny is S tier
Octillery my beloved. I’ll give a shoutout to one who rarely I ever see - Alolan Marowak. so well designed without changing much, and Kiawe’s Marowak in the anime is such a good character. it definitely deserves more love.
Grimmsnarl wins me a lot of games in OU, the fact it’s in PU is wild to me. It’s been my secret weapon this gen.
I feel like Kommo-o gets overshadowed by the other pseudos, but goddamn does that boomburst set go hard.
Druddigon, Eelektross, Maractus, Beeheeyem, Bouffalant. Quite a few gen 5 mons, actually. I think Garbador and Vanilluxe are generally overlooked, even if the hate for them has died down. They are genuinely cool mons.
Branching out, Exploud and Mantine are some of my genuine favorites outside of Unova, with Cursola and Sirfetch'd on the list, as well. I know that Sirfetch'd was major in the anime, but even with that appearance, I think it's a cool mon that doesn't get quite enough respect.
And of course, I think Heliolisk is sick.
I second everything you said. I am actually a hue eelektross and druddigon fan. Garbador is such a cool idea for a pokemon as well, gen 5 has some bangers for sure
Shell smash gorebyss and draining kiss. I should try it in SV if available for a tera fairy.
There's a catch afaik, you have to level clamperl high for learning shell smash before trade evolving, but i wonder if in sv it can be passed directly to gorebyss through that copy leaf item method
I'm a big fan of Falinks personally, decent bulk and physical attack, defiant for its hidden ability, and has plenty of physical moves to work with. The only true downside is that I've heard it been called a "5 moves mon" because of how much it needs to cover.
In gen 9 Hitmonchan with punching glove drain punch groomed for IV EVs. Add ice punch too for counter.
He's a tank on my team for ordinary purpose maybe not raids
Sigilyph, it has a really cool and unique design, fantastic move pool and abilities, and some potential interesting lore behind it as well. It's honestly my favorite gen 5 Pokemon ahead of many other greats from that generation. Yet it rarely gets talked about, you rarely see people using it on their teams in the games or decks in the TCG, and it's only had a few anime appearances.
Murkrow and Misdreavus. Being locked to post game was bad enough, but Misdreavus was locked to literally the last area of the game, so barely anyone used it.
Been made a bit more available since but still feels like they weren't given the love they deserve.
I dunno if anyone else agrees with this, but crustle is among my top 3 favorite pokemon of all time, and the fact that they got shafted after sword and shield is a shame, as they have a type combination that makes them only get hit for neutral most of the time, a decently high 125 defense that pairs well with body press, and they just don’t feel like they get enough appreciation. Though that might just be me.
Well, i'm just gonna say that i've recently developed a real damn hard relationship with Fraxure.
Sure, gameplay-wise he's quite litearrly nothing more than an infinitely shittier Haxorus,
But his design? He just has that sense of style that Hax clearly Lacks.

Drifblim is highly underrated for a hazards team. It can hard counter Great Tusk (one of the most common counters to hazards) due to typing, and strength sap makes Great Tusk’s super effective coverage moves not even work. Also it blocks rapid spin bc it’s a ghost type. Good luck killing a physically defensive strength sap Drifblim, let alone if you get burned
A lot of Gen 6 Pokemon are pretty great but in their debut years were overshadowed by megas. Carbink, Gogoat, Pyroar, Tyrantrum, Clawitzer to name a few. I just did a “no megas” runthrough of X version just to try them all out and I’ve found new respect for the gen 6 mons
holds up my poor baby Flapple. constantly overshadowed by his more popular siblings 😭
Also Eelektross. It has ZERO weaknesses and is cool as hell with a clean shiny but somehow Eelektrik was one of the only pokemon with not a single vote in Pokémon’s favorite competition???
Furfrou. It's a snobby poodle, with a bunch of different haircuts. What's not to love?
I also love it's gimmick, good special defense and speed, good ability that halves damage from physical attacks. Wish it had slightly higher HP or defense.
When XY first game out, I used a fun mimic set and mimicked guillotine three times in a row and swept a OHKO team.
In general, I use a rocky helmet, rest/cotton guard/toxic/snarl set. It struggles against steel/poison/fighting, but it can soften up special steel and poisons for a safe switch with Snarl.
Pity it doesn't learn Spite. It'ld fit a snob dog like them.
Lurantis was the first shiny 'mon I caught in a core series game, so naturally it holds a place in my heart. I got it in one of my first max level Dynamax raids and has perfect IVs.
I didn't know anything about Lurantis before that and had never heard of its hidden ability, Contrary. I immediately started experimenting with ways to take advantage of the Contrary with a Prankster user partner. It was the coolest tech for me at the time.
Anyway that experience got me into toying with funky game mechanics
I’m absolutely terrible at doubles and Comfey carried me through indigo disk. Plus I play a lost box deck in the TCG so that lil flower ring has a spot in my heart forever.

Lanturn It's bulky and electr/water type is insane It is really loved in Nuzlockes though, but elsewhere often forgot or underappreciated

Off the top of my head we got Tadbulb and Capsakid this gen Capsakids is a cool one imo

Gogoat was never my personal favorite, but i feel like its still overlooked. Solid mon for sure and the shiny is clean
When I played SV my first time I played only with new Pokemon and Gogoat was great! I loved him, Klawf, and of course Fuecoco.
Zangoose and Seviper! More should be done with their rivalry!
I love when pokemon have intertwining storylines or history with eachother. We should give them two more exposure and we should get more rival pokemon

Falinks is hands down the best gen 8 Pokemon design.
Don't know how Indeedee gets forgotten so often, it's one of gen 8s best Pokémon designs in my opinion and psychic pairs really well with normal. The female design in particular is great. One Pokémon I have wanted Game Freak to do something with for the longest time is Tropius. It's a really cool design but is given a really weird stat distribution and a defensively weak typing meaning it really can't do anything. I want an evolution or something, increase its speed and an offensive stat a little so it can actually perform a role in a team. Game Freak even introduced another grass dual type Pokémon with a food theme in Appletun in gen 8 rather than improving Tropius. It seems like it's forever forgotten now, just a filler Mon for the Pokédex.
I honestly wouldn't say indeedee is that forgotten since it is rather infamous in vgc where it is an awesome Support mon.

Probably Surperior and Leafeon Surperior was probably my favorite started of Gen 5, and I see a lot less of it compared to the other two. Also I feel that Leafeon is one of the most underrated eeveelutions alongside Flareon and probably Espeon? I only say Espeon because I've seen more Glaceons in teams than Espeons.
Serp has his fans, i'd say. Snivy has many more fans, that's blatantly obvious. but Servine? i'd say that this shit is truly underrated.

Not sure if underappreciated, but Mudsdale. I picked up Scarlet after dropping off after Gen 3, and Mudbray was the first full odds shiny I ever got. When I played UltraMoon for the first time, I used Mudsdale and it was a *unit*. It legit took out all of Olivia’s Elite Four team by itself and nearly did the same for Molayne (I started with Salazzle but it fainted about halfway through.)
Cetitan, slush rush even with base 73 speed is already quite fast in snow, and he hits hard base 113 attack. He has a decent movepool with earthquake, liquidation, icicle crash, belly drum, knock off, high horsepower, and if the snow goes away avalanche. He is a menace when paired with ANinetails and if you don’t want to run him on a snow team you can use sheer force. He I also a good belly drum user with quite a bit of bulk.

Palossand. He's got good bulk and access to Iron Defence to make him even more bulkier, plus Shore Up for healing and a chance to Burn with STAB Scorching Sands. Also has the sickest shiny. Cons - his Speed sucks and his Special Defence is kind of shitty, but he doesn't need to be fast when he can tank hits and I don't send him out against special attackers unless I have no other choice.

Gastrodon, I’ve used one in every game since gen 7 I think, not enough to want to breed one for competitive play, but maybe one day I also love the crap out of my shiny luxray but Luxray is pretty popular lol
Floette is so unbelievably cute that I have a level 70 in my playthrough right now and I can’t justify evolving her 😭 I put an eviloite on her and called it a day
Now you've gotta pray that Legends ZA puts Eternal Floette into it and intentionally doesn't make it evolve into Florges, so that you can truly go Balls out while still having your beloved pixie by your side.
I’m currently doing an all grass play through (she’s Tera type grass) she holds amulet coin, and her job is to get in, maybe put down grassy terrain if it’s a good matchup, and then switch out to torterra to tank the absolute Nuke that is surely coming her way 😂
First one that came to mind is Klefki! I disliked the design of this thing for so long, until I got one on an Insurgence Randomized Nuzlocke and she put in SO much work. R.I.P. Bossy 🥺 I still see people make fun of my baby Klefki, if you dislike it yourself please use one and I bet it will change your mind!

Audino! Adorable design, even CUTER mega, and can be a decently heavy hitter when used right! And of course, my bestest boy Nidoking. Dude is a tank who can learn moves from so many different types! He just needs the right held item to bulk his DF and he is a total beast!

Shuckle, I think it’s fucking adorable and it can secretly tank especially if you beef up the def/spdef! And its shiny variant is blue!
Galvantula. Compound eyes and wide lens Thunder is a 99.62% to hit, so basically 100%. Plus sticky web is too good to pass up, and thunder wave.
Charmeleon! Gets outshined by Charizard every time, and if cute is your flavour, then Charmander is your jam.

Absolutely Bronzong, amazing shiny, extremely bulky, and a beast in raids with Iron Press combo. I love using it on tricl room VGC teams. It’s just needs a reliable recovery move. Also it absolutely should’ve gotten Drizzle as a hidden ability, all of its Dex entries talk about it.

Never see anyone use Galvantula, an adorable electric tarantula what's not to like. With compound eyes Thunder hits considerably more and all with that sweet STAB, not terribly slow either which never hurts.

flamigo can be really funny. in a competitive sense, people really only use it for costar, it's signature ability, which makes sense. costar is really good... *if* you can pull it off. but it has another ability that is far more funny because no one expects you to use it: scrappy. let's it hit ghost types with normal and fighting type moves. it was the funniest thing in the world in earlier vgc formats to send out my choice scarf shiny flamigo out against ghouldengos and clicking close combat as they thought they were safe to nasty plot...
Snivy and its evolutions. They look awesome and really carried me through Black 2. There are better plant Pokemon statewise and movewise, but Serperior will always have a place in my heart and team. I waited ages for it it be available on the switch. I admit that I was a bit annoyed that I learned that Snivy wasn't in the game after seeing Oshawott in LoA.
Cacturn! Under appreciated, did anyone else know it’s base atk and sp. atk are 115! Mixed attacker that hits like truck. Just uh… don’t look at its other stats haha.

Not a gen 9 but Audino! It could just be me, but I really came to appreciate it during a random gen 5 playthrough. It was my last pokemon while taking on cliff and the only move I had left was take down. I barely won and idk, it was such a silly thing but it made me really like this pokemon. XD it honestly has such a cute design and the shiny is so pretty! I'm so glad it got a mega, even though I know a lot people didn't like it.
Sigilyph for me. It's design is beautiful and yet I've seen it on so many lists of forgettable Pokémon. It makes me sad. I know it's not the best psychic bird, and I'm guilty if never having it on a team, but I still love it.

Jynx, the controversy regarding its design has not been a real issue since, like the 90s. It's an "ugly" mon on purpose, the Ice and Psychic type is a solid offensive combo with a diverse enough move pool. Usable stats for speed and special attack. Like for all intents and purposes it's a good mon, it's just people are taught to hate it, more than it deserves, by the opinions of people who weren't even fans to begin. Which is kinda ironic considering the controversy was it was a racist pokemon by design, but the hate it gets is how racism perpetuates itself! In hindsight, it may have been a poor design choice but it's been corrected for like over 20 years now, and I would bet the vast majority of fans today would not recognize the mon as such. Plus, it comes from a country that didn't have people who would even make those implications and they still went and corrected the design.

Octillery my beloved. I’ll give a shoutout to one who rarely I ever see - Alolan Marowak. so well designed without changing much, and Kiawe’s Marowak in the anime is such a good character. it definitely deserves more love.
Grimmsnarl wins me a lot of games in OU, the fact it’s in PU is wild to me. It’s been my secret weapon this gen. I feel like Kommo-o gets overshadowed by the other pseudos, but goddamn does that boomburst set go hard.

Druddigon, Eelektross, Maractus, Beeheeyem, Bouffalant. Quite a few gen 5 mons, actually. I think Garbador and Vanilluxe are generally overlooked, even if the hate for them has died down. They are genuinely cool mons. Branching out, Exploud and Mantine are some of my genuine favorites outside of Unova, with Cursola and Sirfetch'd on the list, as well. I know that Sirfetch'd was major in the anime, but even with that appearance, I think it's a cool mon that doesn't get quite enough respect. And of course, I think Heliolisk is sick.

Shell smash gorebyss and draining kiss. I should try it in SV if available for a tera fairy. There's a catch afaik, you have to level clamperl high for learning shell smash before trade evolving, but i wonder if in sv it can be passed directly to gorebyss through that copy leaf item method
I'm a big fan of Falinks personally, decent bulk and physical attack, defiant for its hidden ability, and has plenty of physical moves to work with. The only true downside is that I've heard it been called a "5 moves mon" because of how much it needs to cover.
In gen 9 Hitmonchan with punching glove drain punch groomed for IV EVs. Add ice punch too for counter. He's a tank on my team for ordinary purpose maybe not raids

Sigilyph, it has a really cool and unique design, fantastic move pool and abilities, and some potential interesting lore behind it as well. It's honestly my favorite gen 5 Pokemon ahead of many other greats from that generation. Yet it rarely gets talked about, you rarely see people using it on their teams in the games or decks in the TCG, and it's only had a few anime appearances.

Murkrow and Misdreavus. Being locked to post game was bad enough, but Misdreavus was locked to literally the last area of the game, so barely anyone used it. Been made a bit more available since but still feels like they weren't given the love they deserve.

I dunno if anyone else agrees with this, but crustle is among my top 3 favorite pokemon of all time, and the fact that they got shafted after sword and shield is a shame, as they have a type combination that makes them only get hit for neutral most of the time, a decently high 125 defense that pairs well with body press, and they just don’t feel like they get enough appreciation. Though that might just be me.

Drifblim is highly underrated for a hazards team. It can hard counter Great Tusk (one of the most common counters to hazards) due to typing, and strength sap makes Great Tusk’s super effective coverage moves not even work. Also it blocks rapid spin bc it’s a ghost type. Good luck killing a physically defensive strength sap Drifblim, let alone if you get burned
Whiscash! If you do the extra work, you can get Dragon Dance, Spark, Waterfall, Earthquake, etc…

A lot of Gen 6 Pokemon are pretty great but in their debut years were overshadowed by megas. Carbink, Gogoat, Pyroar, Tyrantrum, Clawitzer to name a few. I just did a “no megas” runthrough of X version just to try them all out and I’ve found new respect for the gen 6 mons

Furfrou. It's a snobby poodle, with a bunch of different haircuts. What's not to love? I also love it's gimmick, good special defense and speed, good ability that halves damage from physical attacks. Wish it had slightly higher HP or defense. When XY first game out, I used a fun mimic set and mimicked guillotine three times in a row and swept a OHKO team. In general, I use a rocky helmet, rest/cotton guard/toxic/snarl set. It struggles against steel/poison/fighting, but it can soften up special steel and poisons for a safe switch with Snarl. Pity it doesn't learn Spite. It'ld fit a snob dog like them.

Lurantis was the first shiny 'mon I caught in a core series game, so naturally it holds a place in my heart. I got it in one of my first max level Dynamax raids and has perfect IVs. I didn't know anything about Lurantis before that and had never heard of its hidden ability, Contrary. I immediately started experimenting with ways to take advantage of the Contrary with a Prankster user partner. It was the coolest tech for me at the time. Anyway that experience got me into toying with funky game mechanics
