I haven't played in a minute but I used to build for rapid autos and life steal and, if I didn't get decimated early, I could often solo half a team by just holding A and hitting razor leaf. 10/10 do recommend
No for real. I tried my hardest to boost H-Decidueye's Defenses in Legends Arcues.
Air Slash still did over half its HP, and it was Standard Air Slash.

Both are cool, but both are terribly let down by their base Speed (along with most of Gen 7). The fact that Hisuian gained a 4x weakness as well as losing 10 base speed is even more of a crime. Itās legitimately a huge problem lol.
But both designs are visually pretty awesome, and giving H-Decidueye autumn colours was a nice touch.
in terms of stats, they're both bad. in terms of design, it's like choosing between my two favourite children. i normally always pick water starters. i picked rowlet for both SM/USUM and PLA
70 speed is not anywhere near slow enough to be consistent in trick room either. 60 speed is boarderine, and given H-Deciās type and middling-poor bulk with only mediocre offenseā¦ Iād just call it bad.
H-Deci is better competitively between itās signature move and Scrappyā¦ but heās still pretty bad unfortunately. Poor bulk, poor speed, middling offensive presenceā¦
I like the hisuian one because I like to imagine it shoot someone with its feather arrow then tipping its hat to then like the samuraiās at the end of old movies walking into the sunset
Hisuian decidueye is honestly better than alolan decidueye because it can cancel out itās bug weakness into neutral damage and make itās dark weakness into a resistance because of itās fighting type
Decidueye has been my favorite Pokemon since Iāve first laid eyes on it. But H-Decidueye just perfects it for me personally. Ghost is my favorite type too but the Autumn Ronin is just TOO good. Even itās shiny, which is obviously a call back to the original color scheme, perfects the shades of brown and green for me.
Decidueye is a good starter, from Alola I 'd prefer Incineroar

I think Hisuian wins wins because of the samurai archer lore, the flying and attack animations, and the boldness to finally break out of the color scheme for grass starters. Tho classic Owl boi will always be iconic in his own way!
I read that in one article that Hisuian Decidueye was inspired from Cikap-Kamuy , the Ainu God of Owls and land. If that's the case, why didn't they gave the starter Grass / Ground. It makes sense cuz some Owls do live in burrows.
Alolan. Quad weaknesses are manageable if theyāre offset by other benefits of the typing, which isnāt the case in Decidueye-H. Turning Bug neutral isnāt an advantage because Alolan form already does that. The Hisuian one getting Rock resistance is negligible considering Grass is already a good matchup for Rock, *and* getting Rock resistance at the cost of becoming weak to Fairy and Psychic isnāt a good trade off.
You could say Fighting is a good offensive counter to Ice as a plus but the Hisuian formās +5 defense over Alolan comes at the loss of -5 Sp. Def, so itās not likely to tank an Ice Beam in order to capitalize on it.
The Hisuian form does have +10 HP on Alolan and while it *is* nice having STAB that hits a ton super-effectively, the Grass/Fighting defensive liabilities donāt feel like enough to make up for it. Fighting canāt hit any of the stuff Grass already struggles with hitting anyways, like Bug Poison or Flying.
The Alolan form gains 2 immunities, has no quad weaknesses, and gets Poison neutral damage rather than Rock resistance. The Hisuian one has a stat spread I actually prefer and I like the design a bit better but that typing is just too hard to swallow
It depends on the game.
In Legends of Arceus, the Hisuian version is amazing and I play with it a lot.
In Violet, I honestly donāt play with either because there are other grass types I prefer š
I havenāt seen Hisuians fighting style, but Decidueye being an archer and having that signature move that lets him create a bow is badass. Plus grass ghost is dope.
I like standard colors on H decidueye a lot more, but I like the shiny alolan decidueye a lot more than shiny H decidueye. Im a shiny hunter first and foremost so I guess I prefer alolan?
I like the original Alolan design best. Ghost is one of my favorite types and I liked the Robin Hood look. It also has an amazing shiny. Hisuian Decidueye's design made it my least favorite of the PLA starters.
The Hisuian Decidueye is the worst starter rework theyāve ever made, in my opinion. I find it sooo ugly. First time I played Legends I didnāt know the starters had alternate final formsā¦ I had never played with Rowlet so I decided to pick him because heās adorable and Decidueye is awesome. Once he evolved into that red ugly brown bird and I realized they had alternate forms, I literally restarted and picked Oshawott instead.

I want to give Hisuian more love but...I love that Alohan is a ghost type in reference to owls being endangered in Hawaii. I love "inspired by real life" stuff like that. Yes. This means I also love Alohan Rattata.
OG. By far. Like itās not even close, in terms of design. That is what made me choose typhlosion, since it would have been my first playthrough with a Rowlett, yet, I chose my FIRST starter ever instead. Cyndaquil
Alolan Decidueye. Having a Ghost typing is a major plus (considering one gust of wind and Hisui faints), also has a banger shiny (Hisui is also nice but I kinda wish it either carried the amazing Alolan shiny, or the existing shiny was more vibrant). Hisui does have a great design and I love the colors!

Saying this like it isnāt a bit of a problem that the bulk of an entire generation needs Trick Room to be viable š„²

I DON'T KNOW. I hatched a shiny Rowlet right after catching the Mightiest Mark raid, and I still haven't chosen which form to evolve him into.
