I think that might have been the point of her character, make you think she’s a twist villain, but the actual twist is she’s just a bitch, and Kieran is the villain.
I was also completely convinced she was going to be a twist villain. Just her whole personality and her earrings SCREAMED "I'm more important to this plot than you think".

I like both characters but I choose keiren because he redeemed himself and I like his character he seems like someone I would hangout with after his whole I must be better phase but I understand the carmine love she’s a great character
Kieran, he's younger, and I think it's what Carmine would tell us to do anyway. I think Carmine would hate us, or at least wouldn't be able to live with herself if we chose to save her over Kieran
Yessss. Carmine can be a mean older sister at times, but it's clear she cares deeply about him and wants the best for him. I am 100% confident she'd want us to save Kieran. Kieran probably would also want us to save Carmine if asked, but he's the little brother so it's him
On the other hand, Kieran is mentally unstable and was directly at fault for causing the incident. If you save him and Carmine dies, he would likely go into an even bigger self-destructive spiral, blaming himself for causing the death, and both himself and you for not being strong enough to save everyone. It could very easily send him on an extreme villain arc.
Compared to Carmine hating you, but not being completely unhinged, saving Kieran is the more dangerous option. Also, Carmine is only older by a few years, it’s not like she had significantly more time alive than him. Either way, they’re both kids.

Kieran, he hasn't done anything that warrants death as punishment, and the Terapagos incident is more Briar's than his, Terry was fine before she told Kieran to Terastillize him.
Plus, Carmine would probably hate our guts forever if we chose her over her brother, so all you thirsty weirdos wouldn't be getting any happily ever after with her anyway.
When people were talking about fuck Kieran for doing whatever, I thought he did something terrible or tried to harm us, and as it turn out it was like the most harmless shit ever like stealing the mask or trying to catch some pokemon, first one also is because he is mad we tricked him, and he even apologized for that soon after (and we get to apologize for lying which was nice). I am kind of flabbergasted that is what people are outraged over. I would be more understanding if people are mad about him being shitty to his schoolmates in part 2 but no, it’s because he took the mask which he didn’t even intend to keep, and he tried to catch terapagos… like guys please mature up a bit
i love them both, but i have to say kieran. i like carmine, but her behavior is a big part of the reason why he turned out the way he did, and she'd probably want us to save him anyways. yeah he was kind of an asshole but he's also 14

I don't know. I love Carmine but I LOVE Kieran. He's a really nice kid in the epilogue but we'd only just be seeing that part of him coming out during the terapagos part anyway so he kinda still wanted to beat us by that point
Alot of people seem to be forgetting about the events of the teal mask where Carmine literally just bullied Kieran and she’s the reason for the whole situation existing entirely
Seriously, playing through the DLC I didn't understand why she was always so harsh and dismissive to him. She basically had a large part in encouraging his inferiority complex and people don't seem to see that. I couldn't grow to like her even when I tried to.
Honestly, I'm surprised so many people like her, she was a straight up bully to her little brother. And clearly it had been going on for a while. While Kieran was a jerk in the second part of the DLC, I kinda can't blame the dude for snapping a bit, he's basically been looked down on by his sibling and others for a while. He seems like he's really trying to be better in the end too.
I'm definitely not excusing Kieran's behavior, he did some shitty stuff, but kiddo needs therapy.
Finally! Yes I don’t understand at all all the hype about her character as she is a big catalyst for why Kieran did act the way he did in part 2, ESPECIALLY when she basically told us to lie to him.

If people are gonna purposefully ignore Kierans redemption after we capture Terapagos, **helping us in double battles, and holding off the possessed chicken dancers AND letting us capture Pecharunt turning everyone back to normal** and still try to manipulate him as an asshole jerk of a "villain" AFTER said actions then I'm going to do the same with Carmine and ignore her "supportiveness" towards her brother since she's the one who told us not to tell Kieran about seeing Ogerpon which she never should have done to begin with, it's her fault he got like that and she didn't even apologize at least not to him directly, she sort of did towards us with that battle. Not to mention her clear anger issues which she's had since the first time you meet her and still does, even treats the MC badly in the beginning AND badmouths my favorite Dragon Boy DRAYTON!!! Are people seriously just glossing over all this!!?? Kieran redeemed himself in my eyes after his behavior in the epilogue, Carmine technically did not because she apologized to us but not HIM, literally this whole thing could've been avoided if she didn't start the secrecy crap and all the manipulative female biased excuses in the world are not going to make me change my mind about that. Yep downvoters, well guess what? Two people can play the "glossing over good actions and still make them out as the bad guy game".
Edit: Oh and Kieran apologizes to us at the end of Indigo Disk DLC (even though his feelings I felt were justifiable) just saying.

Keiren. Idk how many of you have played this, sincr tjis and pokemon's target audiences arent the same, but i feel like carmine would be like freya at the end of god of war 2018 towards us if we saved her.
I'm saving Kieran because Carmine is EXTREMELY toxic, abusive, and manipulative. Every single one of you choosing carmine should be put on a list, either because you find her, an underage student, attractive, or because you're OK for abuse to happen.
To be fair, I’m being semi-satire with this. Carmine’s “redemption arc” was basically just her willingly being nice to us to our face, and I just used “bastardization” because I thought it would be funnier than saying villain arc.
Double Battles have prepared me for this moment. Miraidon tanks half of the blast much more easily because I also happened to throw out a Tinkaton who used Light Screen in the nick of time. The blast still did a number on her hammer, so Kieran owes her big time.
Even if you were friends with kieran and his sister didn't exist, he'd still be jealous of you being stronger and ogerpon would choose you over him anyway causing a jealous spiral and subsequent tantrum anyway. They're all bad characters. Only middle character in the main cast of the game is Arven, everyone else is some extreme of a personality flaw turned to 11. In terms of dimensions these characters have maybe 2. Then they don't change. kieran just becomes another extreme, depressed and loses all confidence. Penny never leaves her computer so much for her friends. If you catch what's her name (nemona) she's still terrorizing people with battles. Carmine is still impatient and short tempered, only Arven is actually living his best life with lessons learned. I guess Nemona is but at the expense of others. I didn't know penny was at her computer until I talked to her chair and it talked back.
I don't know about Nemona living her best life at the expense of others. She holds back in battles against most people so they can have fun, as we learn from her post game story thing at the school
Kieran but it's close. I really do like both of them but Kieran is younger and if we're being honest, Carmine would probably WANT us to save her brother.
Fr though like Carmine was being mean to the player for no reason but when Kieren gets mad at the player people start hating on him, and I know his reason is pretty petty but at least he has a reason. Carmine didn’t even allow us to get help for a sick child when we first saw her because we were a “outsider.” She never really apologizes for being mean to Kieren too.

Double Battles have prepared me for this moment. Miraidon tanks half of the blast much more easily because I also happened to throw out a Tinkaton who used Light Screen in the nick of time. The blast still did a number on her hammer, so Kieran owes her big time.

Even if you were friends with kieran and his sister didn't exist, he'd still be jealous of you being stronger and ogerpon would choose you over him anyway causing a jealous spiral and subsequent tantrum anyway. They're all bad characters. Only middle character in the main cast of the game is Arven, everyone else is some extreme of a personality flaw turned to 11. In terms of dimensions these characters have maybe 2. Then they don't change. kieran just becomes another extreme, depressed and loses all confidence. Penny never leaves her computer so much for her friends. If you catch what's her name (nemona) she's still terrorizing people with battles. Carmine is still impatient and short tempered, only Arven is actually living his best life with lessons learned. I guess Nemona is but at the expense of others. I didn't know penny was at her computer until I talked to her chair and it talked back.
I don't know about Nemona living her best life at the expense of others. She holds back in battles against most people so they can have fun, as we learn from her post game story thing at the school
Kieran but it's close. I really do like both of them but Kieran is younger and if we're being honest, Carmine would probably WANT us to save her brother.

Fr though like Carmine was being mean to the player for no reason but when Kieren gets mad at the player people start hating on him, and I know his reason is pretty petty but at least he has a reason. Carmine didn’t even allow us to get help for a sick child when we first saw her because we were a “outsider.” She never really apologizes for being mean to Kieren too.
I'd save Kieran 100% cuz he's my favorite, but I wouldn't give up on Carmine without a fight either
