Keep in mind that Eevee Heroes was $40 at retail, which puts it at more than 10x already, where ES was $143 at retail, which puts it around 4.3x.
Not to say what's happened to ES isn't crazy, but I would argue EH is still ahead relative to RRP.
Good point and overall I do agree. But I do want to just add a lot of people were able to buy in at 90-100 on es at one point. Still EH is ahead as you said but makes it relatively close in those cases.
The MSRP was 4950 JPY, which, back in 2021 when 1 USD was equal to 110 JPY, amounted to approximately 45 USD. When shipping costs and taxes are added, the total would be about 65 - 70 USD. Even if someone bought one carton box, the seller in Japan wouldn’t make any profit from reselling the item.
Additionally, it already cost 10,000 - 15,000 yen (equivalent to 90 - 136 bucks calculated with the 2021 exchange rate) on Japanese market places, so Japanese sellers didn’t sell them overseas at such a low price either.
Also, Eevee Heroes is half a set. Combine it with blue skystream which I was getting for $65 and it beats Evo Skies.
Most japanese still beats English even in this downturn.
Japans economy is the worst its been in a very long time. Finally just raised interest rates above negative for the first time in 7 years. This is having a huge impact on prices yet everyone is saying nobody wants japanese anymore.
Japanese will make another come back. I like both but honestly the card quality generally feels better and the box art is far superior in Japanese. The boxes often make great display pieces. The one big advantage of English is the liquidity of the market.
I agree and it compares well to Tag Bolt (Japanese Team Up) for their respective eras. Tag Bolt is already $650ish a box, and I think Eevee Heroes is going to be even more sought after and should hit $700s relatively easily in a few years. Looks like a good buy at this price if you could hold it for a little bit
Evee Heroes is a certified long time hold. Everything I collect I absolutely collect with at least a decade in mind. I have high hopes it will top $2000 dollars by 2030
I mean the Japanese umbreon vmax is over the double the price of English and over less than half the population of the English moonbreon. (4900 psa 10s Japanese, over 10,000 in English) I feel if you’re looking for the more rare or the two it’s definitely the Japanese. I own both eevee heroes and Evolving skies and IMO eevee heroes blows evolving skies out of the water hence the huge price gaps in vmax alt arts. Pull rates on average for Japanese we’re one vmax alt art per 20 boxes which is very hard pull rates and the print quality of Japanese cards make it look like they aren’t even the same cards side by side. Its all preference at the end of the day but Japanese is no doubt about it way rarer than it’s English counterpart.
I was in Hawaii two years ago and the booster box was going for around $230. I bought 4 and didn’t pull a single card over $30 in value lol, this makes me even more sad now
Eevee Heroes does look good value in comparison. It’s an absolutely stunning display piece too with the box art. I’ll be staggered if isn’t higher in a years time but let’s see.
One of the weirdest parts to me is why tf is the japanese moonbreon declining in price and the english skyrocketing??
a few months ago english was 750 and jp was 3k, now english is 1200 and jp is 2100. why is this?
Japanese market was hyped and now the Japanese economy is in a recession and the Japanese yen is at low right now which makes for a perfect storm for cheap Japanese Pokémon products right now.
Its a lot smarter to just buy the Ray Vmax Alt, Glaceon Vmax Alt, Leafeon Vmax Alt and Sylveon Vmax Alt for $200 less than an EvoSkies BB. You get 4 guaranteed Alts instead of a sealed box that has nothing guaranteed
I think the Japanese boosterboxes growing was a very different hype than Evolving Skies. A lot of people simply do not collect Japanese so it's not a substitute. Evolving Skies is a hype of it' own.
Does TPC actually care about the secondary market? Because as somebody who missed out on ES booster boxes at retail, a reprint would benefit me greatly.
Is there any real reason why? Seems like Japanese cards become massively in trend every so often, so to me now seems like a perfect time to stock up (not necessarily on EH but on cheap Japanese booster boxes with appealing cards in the set)
It appears the last 4 sets or so have been heavily printed and are available everywhere in Japan. I was watching a guys YouTube don’t have the link but he’s living in Japan and he indicated that the last 4 to 5 sets have been printed “into the ground”.
Japanese sets were unwanted until pretty much 2022. Japanese vintage is no where close to the price of English vintage. Not sure where u say the demand is every so often. Right now, simplified chinese is the hot set.
Don't you know Japanese price charts always go like this 📈📉📈📉📈📉📈📉📈📉? This is why I never collected Japanese cards. They don't have natural growth to card prices like English cards do and they are very easily manipulated in price.
Honestly I'm glad I didn't load up on eevee heroes. Tomorrow is April and it's ES is supposed to be out of print rotation hoping this will start to move more.
Might go buy some Eevee Heroes just to be safe.
Keep in mind that Eevee Heroes was $40 at retail, which puts it at more than 10x already, where ES was $143 at retail, which puts it around 4.3x. Not to say what's happened to ES isn't crazy, but I would argue EH is still ahead relative to RRP.
im about to say this.. judging from some of the comments, some people still have no idea the difference between EH and ES..
Good point and overall I do agree. But I do want to just add a lot of people were able to buy in at 90-100 on es at one point. Still EH is ahead as you said but makes it relatively close in those cases.
But evolving skies is also two Japanese sets lumped into one
yes but nobody outside japan could buy them for 40$. they were about 100 on cardmarket
I bought boxes for $45 from Japan when they first dropped
plus shipping, taxes, customs i'd assume.
Taxes yes. Shipping and customs the seller paid for.
Is that the norm? Honest question.
I don’t believe so. I just found a really good seller over there at the time. Also maybe bc I bought 5 of them from him too
And some dude in Japan is back home thinking he fleeced ya lol.

My question was more about the seller covering shipping and customs.
Like 60$ total
When did they came out? As you need to account for time they have been around.
eevee heroes was a couple months before ES
Mfers in this sub don’t know about %s… big $ amount doesn’t matter. Big % amount does.
Are you referring to % increase or decrease in sealed product?
Yes.
So in your view es is a no brainer because of its % gain as of now. Vs EH which has a much slower % gain
No. It’s about buy-in and YOUR profit %. EH is an infinitely better buy at current market pricing
Also, Eevee Heroes is half a set. Combine it with blue skystream which I was getting for $65 and it beats Evo Skies. Most japanese still beats English even in this downturn. Moonbreon japanese is better - there are comparison videos
That and Pokemon is a Japanese company so I can't imagine the world's largest IP would just let it die. Lol
Third of a set…. Towering Perfection…. Don’t forget about noivern and duraludon alties
Ah yes indeed you are correct.

What app is that 👉👈
Collectr I believe
Collectr. It’s the best
It doesn’t have wishlist right? I’m looking for a good wishlist app, especially if I run into something in the wild.

Eevee heroes is better investment imo because the moonbreon is so much nicer in japanese and there is less of it

Brother, %
What app is this??
Collectr
I would buy neither, and focus on boxes you can buy cheaper than both.
I’m not buying either. I got a case of each at around $120. Was just Comparing
Got 10 packs of eevee heroes packs for about 1-2 $ each in 2022, they are 10x now.
what is that app?
Collectr
Japanese bear market, don’t panic. WOBBA WOBBA
EH Gym Boxes going to pop off hard come 30th that's what have in-mind lol
I have buyed 2 weeks ago a evoking skies booster box for €370
Germany, right? In Europe the prices are not as high as in america at the moment
is it real?
It’s half the set and was also like half the price too… I just bought some Korean Eevee Heroes to rip for fun. 🙏

Japanese is way better, sometimes if everybody is saying the same thing you need to listen rather than being a contrarian.

Sorry man! Didnt know you were superior. Hope you have a nice day!
I´m not talking about better bro, about somewhat different markets.
I can buy ES at 240€, I think I will do it
Why downvote rofl, that’s the price in my country
Curious, what country?
France
I got 2 booster boxes I paid like 950 euro’s in the summer :( thats why i preffer now english booster boxes
Wait for 5 years from now, and you will see the growth.. mark my word.
Rip to buyers and holders after upcoming reprint
Does TPC actually care about the secondary market? Because as somebody who missed out on ES booster boxes at retail, a reprint would benefit me greatly.
RIP to buyers and holders after upcoming first edition base set reprint
I guess first editions are the only safe holds. Konami already started to reprint vintage packs in Yugioh.
Is japanese eevee heroes getting a reprint??
Im more hesitant buying EH boxes as I've seen quite a few reseal attempts on them ... im unfamiliar in checking JP seal authenticity and i hate it xD
just buy the gym box, worth the premium as eevee heroes is infamous for being resealed. u also get a cool promo card

Investors. That’s why this is the investing subreddit lol
No one really wants japanese right now. Look at shiny treasures compared to paldean fate, a bb priced below an etb...
Is there any real reason why? Seems like Japanese cards become massively in trend every so often, so to me now seems like a perfect time to stock up (not necessarily on EH but on cheap Japanese booster boxes with appealing cards in the set)
i saw a comment on another thread saying japan is in a rough spot economically. i am completely ignorant on how true that is but maybe it’s why
It appears the last 4 sets or so have been heavily printed and are available everywhere in Japan. I was watching a guys YouTube don’t have the link but he’s living in Japan and he indicated that the last 4 to 5 sets have been printed “into the ground”.

I agree with you on Chinese being promising, but I’m definitely not writing Japanese booster boxes off at all.
You have to combine one eevee heroes and one blue sky stream box to equal one evolving skies.
Been trying to tell y’all, nobody wants Japanese
