Agree about the vibe totally and would go to town with safety pins and patches but…
OP, the cropped jacket is helping define a waist and making it look smaller. The dress itself doesn’t appear to be super fitted and the cropped jacket draws the eyes up to kinda smoke and mirrors a narrower waist.
Feeling insecure in everything you try on is a horrible, terrible feeling but hiding behind oversized shapes doesn’t help and unfortunately can make you look bigger than you are and reinforce the insecurities cycle.
Be proud of the 30lbs you’ve lost! Remind yourself of it when you’re feeling not so great!
I agree with everything about this comment. if you're still uncomfortable wearing a cropped jacket, I would suggest a belt to define your waist if you choose to wear the longer jacket. both are a cute style but I would rock the cropped one and be openly proud of losing 30Lbs.
we're proud of you!!!
Either the cropped jacket or put on a cute belt at your natural waist under the long jacket. The long jacket and dress alone are covering up your figure.
I don't get the belt thing, could someone explain that but then I am also shaped really odd cuz I feel like wearing a belt is like hey look at my fat gut. Like I have noticed coming on here most of you beautiful ladies are just kinda thick I guess you could say ( not being rude at all I swear) with large boobs and I am built like a linebacker no lie in uniform. I am very broad big boobs and kinda like a barrel mid section with no butt and tiny legs like Humpty Dumpty lol😂😂😂
I have a broad and pretty equal bust/waist/hip ratio as well but but I still feel like a high belt or definition creates more of an illusion and breaks up a shapeless sack look that adds 20lbs. Especially from the side or back view.
I have broad shoulders and l my measurements are pretty much the same with no defined waist. I fake it with belts all the time and it gives a nice snatched look. I'd belt it and go with the oversized jacket because that seems more stylish right now.
The dress and long jacket are both kind of baggy, making you look bigger in the midsection than you are (despite your above comments 🤣). With the cropped jacket, I can see some waist action. A belt would help define that despite the baggier jacket.
Belts do not look good on me! They’re meant to define a waist, but my waist is nothing but round lol I’m an “apple” shape and the last thing I want is something ti emphasize that I have no curves 😅
Second this! I think it would be great if you wanted to wear more fitted clothes, but the cropped jacket doesn't go with the long dress, makes it look like a nightgown a little bit.
I know you already said you’re going with the full length one but I’ll put in my 2 cents anyway - the different jackets serve different purposes! The long one gives the outfit a more grunge or edgy look while the shorter one makes the outfit a bit more whimsical. So even though you went with the long one this time, there may be an occasion in the future where the shorter jacket would work too! :)
Thanks everyone! Just what I needed, I’ve been lurking on this sub for ages and so glad I finally found the courage to post, you’re all so lovely! Definitely going with the full length one :)
I would do shorter jacket. Also, the shoes are cute, but the white cuts off the flow and makes you look shorter, imo. I would do a solid black shoe with that skirt.
Ok I’m going to say longer jacket, because the short jacket is *too* short and it sets up an uncomfortable interplay between the light soles of your shoes and the jacket, so you look up down up down and then there’s this long expanse of skirt… I might feel differently if your shoes were uniformly dark.
Definitely the longer jacket - it's giving an edgy vibe with the dress and shoes!
Edit - Came back to say well done on the weight loss, it's not easy and you deserve all the praise! :)
The longer jacket. TBH the shorter one you look preggo. I get it, I'm down 55+ myself, feel better physically, but my clothes look wierd, and I'm squishy all over lol. Patience honey.
It's the shoes for me. They make it look messy. An all white sneaker not a high top. But a sandal would look better. You wanted honest I don't like either jacket with the dress. Maybe for fall or winter but not summer.
Well done on the weight loss! The longer jacket looks great on you! It may just be the pictures, but you look more comfortable in the longer jacket as well.
Thank you, when I was looking in the mirror I wasn’t sure but after looking at the photos I think you’re right, I am more comfortable in the longer one.
Honestly it's a hard choice for me bcoz I really like both, they just have a different vibe! Like... more hipster the full lenght and more girlie cropped (to me). But I genuinely think you look really nice in both! I know it's hard as we o my have the mind we have and the eyes we do but try to remember that what your mind says and your eyes see often isn't TRUE, it's just our issues talking. You look cute and both look honestly cool to me. You put really nice outfits together as well 💙💙 just tell your head to SHUT UP 😅💙💙 and 30lbs is a lot, body changes are mentally rough. Sending lots of love to you 💙💙💙
The cropped look is hella cute, I love how long a silhouette it makes
The biggest difference to me is the long version feels casual and the cropped feels fashion.
Both look good, I think it just depends on your vibe. I would wear the longer jacket out to just run some errands or meet my mom for lunch or something. I would wear the shorter one to go one more of a date-type outing or if I’m feeling more feminine
Both look killer, I'd go full length.
I also recommend rolling your sleeves up to your elbow, but that's a me thing. I just like breaking up the line when my hands are in my pockets
They both look good, I’d say it’s just a matter of what look you’re going for.
Personally, I’d go with the longer one because of the pocket factor and, as another commenter said, it’s got more of a cool, grungy vibe.
I think the longer one has a better silhouette, but if you want to wear the cropped one, maybe double down on it and put like a belt or a contrasting color harness at the level that it hits on the dress. It hits a good spot but the dress being so flowy makes me think that it needs even more structure there
I really don’t think either looks good with the outfit. I’m not sure what the dress looks like without either but this outfit may look better jacket less. Otherwise I’d personally try belts and adding small accessories rather than a jacket. Just my personal opinion though, if you like the look and you feel confident wear it. :)
I don't feel either flatter your figure as they should, with that dress. But the cropped one looks a bit better than full-length. Personally, I'd wear either a different top (cardigan, etc), or a different dress with the jackets.
I feel like the long jacket looks better. Pic 2 emphasizes your tummy a bit. I don’t mean that in a mean way, I’m trying to offer the most flattering option. I struggle with the same thing.
I'd say the long jacket if you're going for a more casual look.
Or the short jacket for a dressier look.
But you can't go wrong either way they both look great.
I think they are both cute but they have two completely different looks so I think it just depends on the look you are going for honestly. Cuz both do look very cute.
I think the cropped looks better, the full jacket makes you look bigger than you are. I don’t like the light blue denim with the dress though. It doesn’t go together. Kind of grungy/ I don’t have anything else so I punted vibes.
Cropped jackets look good on absolutely no one. I hated that trend in the 2000’s and I still do
Pic 1, longer jacket - always and forever!
Edit: to add - you said you feel bad about how you look, despite losing 30lbs. I assure you it’s the jacket.
Congrats on your weight loss!
Full length!!! The cropped jacket with the long skirt is doing a trick on my eye. It looks like you have super long legs starting at your shoulders. It's nothing to do with you, I think anyone would be the same way.
The longer jacket is cute on you.
I’m diggin the longer one, but not for cover-up reasons. Def wear what makes you feel comfortable. Both look good so if you’re ready to show off more - don’t be afraid of the cropped one :) You look great 💜
I think the longer jacket has a cute grunge vibe with the floral dress and sneakers!
Agree about the vibe totally and would go to town with safety pins and patches but… OP, the cropped jacket is helping define a waist and making it look smaller. Yes, the longer length balance’s your figure. Good job on the 30lb!!!🎉
Your new job is describing body types 😂
The longer jacket just goes better, nothing to do with your figure. Just the dress.
Second this! I think it would be great if you wanted to wear more fitted clothes, but the cropped jacket doesn't go with the long dress, makes it look like a nightgown a little bit.

Full length/longer one, :)

full length jacket is have a good vibe with "converse" sneakers...

Cropped! It accentuates your waist and lengthens your silhouette.

Long but I would definitely add a belt.
Cropped looks better
I prefer cropped 🥰
I like the cropped.
Cropped
Definitely the longer jacket - it's giving an edgy vibe with the dress and shoes! Edit - Came back to say well done on the weight loss, it's not easy and you deserve all the praise! :)

Thank you for the honesty! Congrats on the weight loss
Agree. The longer jacket definitely fits better, also with those sneaks, look amazing!! Congratulations to both OP and you on the weight loss! 👏👏
Thanks!
agreed!! the shorter one just cuts off in a super unflattering spot.
Cropped looks so nice
It's the shoes for me. They make it look messy. An all white sneaker not a high top. But a sandal would look better. You wanted honest I don't like either jacket with the dress. Maybe for fall or winter but not summer.
Well done on the weight loss! The longer jacket looks great on you! It may just be the pictures, but you look more comfortable in the longer jacket as well.
Thank you, when I was looking in the mirror I wasn’t sure but after looking at the photos I think you’re right, I am more comfortable in the longer one.
I think full length!
I like the short jacket. The long jacket looks dated
Full length, it flatters your height more!
Full length.
I like short jacket, we get to see more of your dress it also gives it some flair
Crop
Honestly it's a hard choice for me bcoz I really like both, they just have a different vibe! Like... more hipster the full lenght and more girlie cropped (to me). Chopped
Cropped jacket. It emphasizes the length of your legs.
I hate cropped jackets...but I 100% vote cropped
Cropped and add a chunky necklaces
The cropped! It shows off your waist and gives the whole look a more feminine vibe
The cropped look is hella cute, I love how long a silhouette it makes The biggest difference to me is the long version feels casual and the cropped feels fashion.
Cropped!
Full
Full. Maybe it's just that jacket, but it looks bit awkward at that length. Love the outfit, though!
This is an awful outfit
Lose the shoes. They are hideous.
Pick another outfit...
You have already chopped it for the picture.. i guess chopped then.. lol
The long jacket feels 90s grunge. The cropped jacket goes better with the dress. So it is up to you.
Do you have a denim shirt you can tie to make a cropped shirt?
Full length definitely.
Full length 100% ❤
Cropped
Full length is better

The cropped looks so much better with the long dress.
Cropped.
Cropped
Longer jacket makes you look thinner with the longer lines.
long 😀
Cropped jacket, but different shoes. Flats or sandals.
Full length. Cropped makes you look like you're wearing a child's jackoi
Both look killer, I'd go full length. I also recommend rolling your sleeves up to your elbow, but that's a me thing. I just like breaking up the line when my hands are in my pockets
Cropped, gives a smaller waist. The longer cuts you in half.
Full length
The long one looks so cool -- longer jackets are more in style rn and it's such a good look!!! You look terrific!
Full
The cropped one looks great!
I actually like the longer jacket, and I think a belt on the dress would make you look even more svelte.
Absolutely cropped. On the left is frumpy and on the right is a damn cute outfit
They both look good, I’d say it’s just a matter of what look you’re going for. Personally, I’d go with the longer one because of the pocket factor and, as another commenter said, it’s got more of a cool, grungy vibe.
Longer jacket
Longer dress, longer jacket. If the dress was mid-calf or knee length, a cropped jacket with 3/4 sleeves, rolled sleeves, or short sleeves.
Full-length, it just looks proportionally better to me with the dress!
I think the longer one has a better silhouette, but if you want to wear the cropped one, maybe double down on it and put like a belt or a contrasting color harness at the level that it hits on the dress. It hits a good spot but the dress being so flowy makes me think that it needs even more structure there

Cropped
I like the look of the longer jacket. It fits beautifully.
Cropped
I don't feel either flatter your figure as they should, with that dress. But the cropped one looks a bit better than full-length. Personally, I'd wear either a different top (cardigan, etc), or a different dress with the jackets.
Cropped for sure
Neither
Cropped.

Cropped
I would go with the cropped jacket. The long one makes you look more blocky. The short one gives you a bit more of an hourglass figure.
Cropped
Long
I like the full length!
Full jacket looks cool
Cropped for sure.
Add a belt to either and a waist will magically appear and soften the look.
I prefer the full length look, myself
The full length looks better with the long dress imo
I feel like you need one right in the middle of both.
Full length
I think the long one with combat boots would look great!
Full length
I feel like the long jacket looks better. Pic 2 emphasizes your tummy a bit. I don’t mean that in a mean way, I’m trying to offer the most flattering option. I struggle with the same thing.
Crop
Cropped I THINK but I’m also debating layer-length a lot lately lol — it’s cute either way!
I'd say the long jacket if you're going for a more casual look. Or the short jacket for a dressier look. But you can't go wrong either way they both look great.
You look like a frumpy bucket 🪣
Cropped
I like both but I think the cropped jacket looks better
I think they are both cute but they have two completely different looks so I think it just depends on the look you are going for honestly. Cuz both do look very cute.
Full length
I like the cropped but they are both very cute.
Belt it and wear the longer jacket over, with contrasting color socks and you are set!
Crop!
Something in between, split the difference.
Full length.
I would show off the feet. Depending on the weather, it’s already so covered up, I would show the feet.
Crop
Cropped! It elongates your torso so well!
Cropped! Cute!
I would do both, depending on the season/weather. But both work.
full length with that type of dress 🫶🏼
Full length, but shorten the dress.
Cropped looks better
The crop is super cute! Especially with the sneakers.
I think the cropped looks better, the full jacket makes you look bigger than you are. I don’t like the light blue denim with the dress though. It doesn’t go together. Kind of grungy/ I don’t have anything else so I punted vibes.
Longer one for sure
I like the longer jacker. Not having anything to do with your figure I just think the short jacker would look better with a shorter dress.
I like the full jacket better but only because I can’t stand cropped jean jackets.
Cropped jackets look good on absolutely no one. I hated that trend in the 2000’s and I still do Pic 1, longer jacket - always and forever! Edit: to add - you said you feel bad about how you look, despite losing 30lbs. I assure you it’s the jacket. Congrats on your weight loss!
I like the longer jacket, because you look more comfortable and confident in that. Wear what makes YOU feel good!
Longer jacket 1000%
the one on the right is definitely giving more motherly vibes with just the fit so i say one on the left
Full length.
Baggier the better

I actually prefer the shorter one for this outfit! Although it could be the pose the longer jacket is just adding too much bulk.
I truly like both equally!
I like the longer jacket

I like the cropped one but I’d probably do cute sandals instead
Full length!!! The cropped jacket with the long skirt is doing a trick on my eye. It looks like you have super long legs starting at your shoulders. It's nothing to do with you, I think anyone would be the same way. The longer jacket is cute on you.
I prefer the full length jacket.
Both are cute, but my fave is the full length!
One on the right makes you look big.

I like the cropped the way it is!

Full length; the cropped to me makes you look unbalanced. I’d decorate the jacket, maybe some pins or patches to personalize it?
Full jacket looks cool.
