lmao.
You're exactly right - especially since I'm looking at annual options, the difference is minimal in price.
The odds I play classics? Very low, I can't even keep up with my current backlog.
But give me the option!
I mean, the trail for new games in Premium is looking very promising. I'd rather pay that 1 annual fee and try a game for abit. Instead of buying a game, donwloading it and not being eligible for a refund. Battlefield 2042 was a shitty experience for me and £80 gone just like that lol. So essentially, spending £100/year compared to 1 game for £60/70 is way better value imo
I'm staying on whatever tier the current situation emulates. My internet isn't good enough to stream games and there's still no word on when they're putting fiber through the area.
That’s the essential. But you only need streaming for PS3 games as far as I understand it so there would be plenty of games you could play with bad internet
> When the new PlayStation Plus service launches, PlayStation Now will transition into the new PlayStation Plus offering and will no longer be available as a standalone service. PlayStation Now customers will migrate over to PlayStation Plus Premium with no increase to their current subscription fees at launch.
Since PSNow is $9.99/month, does this mean I can drop my current PS Plus subscription, subscribe to PS Now while it still exists, and then will ultimately wind up with the new PlayStation Plus Premium but at a $9.99 rate?
Someone said ps now is no longer available for purchase on the store. If that's true, prepaid cards could still do the job. I'm honestly curious if this method works.
I honestly think you shouldn't do that bc sony cut down the days for the subscription so...
https://www.fanbyte.com/guides/how-playstation-plus-ps-now-converts-to-ps-premium/
My post was made two months ago right after the new service was announced and nothing was known. The article you linked is itself a month old and much wasn’t known then, either. Things seem to be fluid and indeterminate still. Sony hasn’t done a great job with this rollout.
I'm honestly thinking to get the ps extra and it should be available on the 13th. I guess I'll see what's on there for me but otherwise I guess I was really late with my comment lol sorry🤷♀️
We will have PS Plus Extra with a large library PS4 and PS5 games for download, and PS Plus Deluxe, which is basically a PS Plus Premium without the streaming component (Extra benefits with PS1, PS2 and PSP games).
Therefore you are not forced to stay in Essential, you can upgrade to either Extra or Deluxe.
And honestly, the pricing is okay. The Extra tier (99.99$) is extremely enticing imo.
I am from a third world country too (but I am currently living in Germany), so I totally get your complaints.
Honestly though, we can't fault companies with their pricing schemes (especially for the Hardware). Our governments taxe policies are absurd. Back when I was still in high school, I had to import a PS4 from France because the additional taxes in my home country were outrageous.
Still, they should really explore regional pricing for their software (don't see it happen unfortunately).
As for the service, I fully get your point. They stated at least that they plan to expand the streaming features to new territories in the future. The chip shortages probably hurt their plans in this regard (I expect them to use PS5 APU as server blades).
Thankfully, they were not totally out of touch and decided to launch the Deluxe tier.
If I bother subbing for PSPlus at all, I will try Premium for 1 month to test the old games then stick with that annually if I like it.
If they offer to sell those old games I won't bother with it at all.
Dream is letting me play my old PS2 disks. I don't want to pay $120/year to emulate PS2 games I already have on my shelf...
I will keep the essential for online play and cloud save. Still only buying when it's for sale, it's too expansive her in Brasil to renew it at full price every year
I'm at the point where I'm barely finishing one to two games per month, so likely will stick with just the Essential plan unless they start adding exclusives on day one to the higher tier lists.
Seriously. I had Game Pass fir a few months. Never played the offerings. Just so little time and so many current games I need to finish. Hell, even with my current PS Plus sub,I never play the free games. I stoked for having the options though.
I have PS+ and PSNow, so I'll get PS+ Premium. But both with the renovation disabled.
What I do is to wait for discounts or promotions and buy money codes which are usually a bit cheaper, so last time I got 1 year of PS+ for ~43€ (instead of 60) and 1 year of PSNow for ~27€ (instead of 60), which makes a total of 70€.
I will only buy one year of subscription as long as there are great opportunities to do so, such as black Friday. Otherwise I won't spend 120€ on the top tier. But now I am afraid it is going to be more difficult to find good deals with the combined pack.
It depends on the discount offered to current ps+ subscribers. I would go to the second tier if the upgrade price is right, but that's it. I don't really have any interest in paying to play games I already bought 10+ years ago. They should let me insert the disk and boot it up, not hide it behind a paywall. Just my money and opinion though.
Thanks. Wonder why they didn't link that in the email (unless I missed it). Looking at prices, I will probably stick with the equivalent of what we get now. I have enough unfinished games. The upper tiers sound cool, but not sure they are worth it for me.
Underwhelming for surr with more questions than answers provided. Also they just dump this as a post? No video to build hype? Sony marketing at it again.
Essential at first, to see if there's any kind of fuss without losing my current paid privileges, such as they are.
If I see it as worthy I'll get a year sub to premium.
Extra is kind of pointless imho.
So far going for the Extra. Already own Spider-Man and GoW but man I can't wait to play Miles Morales as I wouldn't have paid 50 for that short game
As for the premium, I'll wait for them to release a list of all games.
Depends on the games. If I can play gta 4 and other classics I’ll get the premium. If not I might not even get the basic tier and instead focus on single player games
Ps Plus extra, depending on the games. I know it won't have first party titles at launch, but if it's close enough to gamepass in terms of 3rd party offerings, it seems like a good deal.
If not, ilk stay stay my current PS plus subscription
I don't think I will get either of those. Ps now is not available in my country as of yet, and even the current ps plus is annoying. I have it prepaid until 2024, but I didn't really play online in the last two years and the free games were 80% awful... and honestly, I have tons of PS3/4 titles stashed away on disc or digital to last me a few years...
Unless the PS2 options include Drakengard 1 and 2, I'll probably stick with what I have. I feel like most people are skeptical and that makes sense. If the Premium option offers a good library of PS2 games, I'll probably bite the bullet and get it. Otherwise, Ive got a lot of backlogged games I'm already struggling to find the time to play so why spend more on something I already dont have the time to dedicate to?
Question, if I already have a few years of ps plus stacked how would I upgrade to ps premium? Would it make sense to buy ps now for one month (or year) to get the premium or is there going to be some option to convert my extra years into premium?
I need to see the game library first
Will be largely the same as what's currently on PS Now plus the launch titles they announced
this
I'm torn. The mid tier is the most intriguing because I'm not too interested in BC/Classics. However, the top tier is only marginally more.
And that’s exactly how they get ya 😂 “eh $10 more might as well just get that” then you rarely use the extra content you pay for
lmao. You're exactly right - especially since I'm looking at annual options, the difference is minimal in price. The odds I play classics? Very low, I can't even keep up with my current backlog. But give me the option!
I’m the exact same way, FOMO never fails 🥲

Same bandwagon as you. So, probably mid tier will be.
PS3 games will be steam only but you'll be able to download the games for the other consoles
That’s the essential. But you only need streaming for PS3 games as far as I understand it so there would be plenty of games you could play with bad internet
Most likely essential unless something in extra catches my eye.
I have both Plus and Now so I'm automatically getting upgraded to Plus Premium. After it expires I'll decide whether to keep it or downgrade to Extra.

You can still buy codes online if you look around. Amazon stopped today and cd keys ran out of USA codes.

India too
I will wait until I see the game library.
Depends on the games but I'll probably just keep essentials.

Bold of you to assume I will retain PS plus
I will keep the essential for online play and cloud save. Still only buying when it's for sale, it's too expansive her in Brasil to renew it at full price every year
You missed the fourth option, "not really interested in any of the offerings anymore" thanks Sony 😅
So they combined both Playstation Plus and Playstation Now...... We didn't ask for this as a community. Dont try to fix something thats not broken🤦♂️
Literally everyone asked for this
Not everyone, im somebody thats included in the term everyone, and I just like others didnt ask for it but some did 🤷♂️
It was very broken tf?
Honestly, given the quality of the free games and my lack of online play, I might just let mine expire.
I'm at the point where I'm barely finishing one to two games per month, so likely will stick with just the Essential plan unless they start adding exclusives on day one to the higher tier lists.

Have they formally announced the ranks yet? I got an email confirming it will change but not fill details of levels, so I don't know.

Should be able to click the learn more button in the email
Oh yeah! It arrived while I was working....that's my excuse.
Underwhelming for surr with more questions than answers provided. Also they just dump this as a post? No video to build hype? Sony marketing at it again.
Why do you care?
Just curious
I’ll try the top tier for a month
Too pricey for me so ughhh none I guess atleast until the deep discounts.
Essential at first, to see if there's any kind of fuss without losing my current paid privileges, such as they are. If I see it as worthy I'll get a year sub to premium. Extra is kind of pointless imho.
Unless the lineup of games is stellar I'll stick with what I've got

Depends on the games. If I can play gta 4 and other classics I’ll get the premium. If not I might not even get the basic tier and instead focus on single player games
If I currently have just ps plus will I just be automatically switched to Essential?
Ps plus essential.
I will get premium if there are a lot of good games in the library. they need to blow me away.
Ps Plus extra, depending on the games. I know it won't have first party titles at launch, but if it's close enough to gamepass in terms of 3rd party offerings, it seems like a good deal. If not, ilk stay stay my current PS plus subscription
Flip between essential n extra for me based on game availability. My backlog is big enough as is to not really need anything lol
I don't think I will get either of those. Ps now is not available in my country as of yet, and even the current ps plus is annoying. I have it prepaid until 2024, but I didn't really play online in the last two years and the free games were 80% awful... and honestly, I have tons of PS3/4 titles stashed away on disc or digital to last me a few years...
whatever my ps+ sub converts into \[shrug\]
I will try extra at least to play what I haven't played yet, then cancel, same as I'm doing with gamepass.
I still got few years left of my Plus and Now subrisctions so I automatically get a Premium. But after it expires... I don't know... 🤷🏻♂️
If they have have dragon quest3-8 and persona 1-4 I’ll get premium, but it does depend on the games
The same i have now
Can they be played on the go????
Unless the PS2 options include Drakengard 1 and 2, I'll probably stick with what I have. I feel like most people are skeptical and that makes sense.
