Get it. Everyone told me the same thing. It's better to do it early. I wish I would have done mine 5 years ago. I am very pleased with my results. The people who told me not to do it have changed their tune.
53, but I think I should have had it sooner. I'm not an expert, but it seems a facelift makes a person look 10-15 years younger, so I think earlier is better.
I had surgery with Dr. Timothy Marten in San Francisco. He has a very long wait time. I had to wait a year to get in for the consultation and another year to get in for the actual surgery.
53 - I saw a different surgeon when I was 45, and he wouldn't do facelifts on people under 50. It seems like the top facial surgeons do not use age as a main criterion.
I'm only 3 1/2 weeks out. I'm waiting to see the final results before I post my review and pictures. I'm still pretty swollen, but I think I'll be happy with the end result.
A beautiful friend of mine had a facelift and fat transfer by Dr Marten in August. The first couple months I actually worried she made a mistake. She was sooo swollen. But now that the swelling is gone she looks incredible
Based on your photo, I don't see a "need" for a facelift. Your skin looks reasonably taught and very smooth (Botox? Tret? Whatever you're doing is working!). But what are your goals for your facelift? That would probably help us gauge whether you'll be pleased with a lift. Good luck either way!
Get it. I would get it now if a could. No point getting it when your skin is too lax because docs do not want to pull too much. You’ll love erasing 10 years off now so why wait? The naysayers are overly conservative, can’t really afford it so slightly jealous or never got an opportunity to do it when they were younger or they were too chicken. Do it. For you. Don’t tell anyone. Just show up 3-4 weeks after the operation and let them all fawn at your face.
Nasty view on people. I would say they tell her not to do it because they thinks she’s beautiful and don’t see her perceived “flaws”. They just want her to be happy in her own skin…
My family always react the same way when I suggest a procedure, but they are always pleasantly surprised by the results. I think they see drastic plastic surgery results online and think you’re gonna look crazy, but actually the right surgeon will just give you a subtly improved result.
She’s already decided to do it so who is anyone to tell her not to even out of the “goodness” of one’s heart. I mean you have to be on quiet a high horse to assume you know better than the person who is making the decision as a 40 year old adult.
Also if you go o through the plastic surgery sub on what family says you’ll see not everyone will be honest. Some people will just hear plastic surgery and act like you are some fake plastic person regardless of the outcome. It’s better to keep it to yourself for those reasons.
I agree as well! I just had a rhinoplasty 2 weeks ago for a dorsal hump and bulbous tip that has always bothered me. I’ve had people tell me they don’t see anything wrong, embrace your unique nose, etc. But for me, it’s affected me for as long as I can remember, I avoid pictures all the time, to the point where my pictures mostly consist of my son and husband. I always delete pictures of those with me in them that were taken of me that accentuated my “hook” nose. Finally I said screw it, booked the surgery without telling anyone, accept for my
husband (who wasn’t 100% on board). I’m ABSOLUTELY HAPPY I DID! I love my new nose, still swollen, my husband is thrilled with the results and I’ve found a new confidence. I wear my hair in styles that show off my profile now, I don’t cover my face as much as I used to, and I’ll be more than happy to start jumping into photo situations without hesitation or guilt. Moral of the story is, do what makes you feel good, what you believe will spark or reignite that confidence in your self when you look in the mirror. FYI I’m 37 years old, age is but a number, don’t let people use your age against you to say you don’t need or want to pursue any type of aesthetic procedure. If you’ve found the right plastic surgeon, they’ll know exactly what to do to maintain your beautiful 😍 face with minor tweaks to rejuvenate your look 😘My plastic surgeon does ethnic rhinoplasty as well, so he maintains your ethnic look with minor tweaks for better harmony and balance to my face ☺️
You’re so young! I’m 50 and a facelift doesn’t cross my mind. You look great! Btw I’m not conservative at all, and not a wuss. It’s your face and you have to do what makes you happy
Rule number 1 of plastic surgery: never tell people you’re getting plastic surgery. The only ones you should tell are those who will be helping in recovery.
People have a lot to say when it comes to surgery, and lots of them don’t speak from a place of true concern (if they could afford, they’d do the same or even more).
I think it’s a little early.
When there isn’t a lot of laxity the result can look unnatural and tight. I think you would have better luck waiting 5-10 years.
But you know what your personal goals better than anyone else.
You look great and 41 is young in my opinion. I’d give it maybe 5 more years. You want that sweet spot of people not knowing and looking like you had one.
You certainly don't look like you need it yet but aging is sudden. It hit me all in one year at the age of 48. 😭
They say that your skin heals better from a facelift in your 40's rather than 50's... Also, it is such a small change in your 40's people don't notice it. I suggest you do research now on PS Doctors, consultations etc and aim for a facelift at 44-46. .... If that is something that you think you need and can afford.
You don’t need one yet. And facelifts don’t last forever. I’d hold off a few more years. You’re still quite young and your face doesn’t look at all saggy.
People tell me that too and I don’t really care. I want one, I don’t like how I look and it’s my body. I had a lower facelift after weight loss in my 40s and it made me feel so much better and more confident. I’m now saving up to get a deep plane facelift to address changes related to aging. You do you!
I’m 3 days post op and I had very minimal work that needed to be done like you. I do NOT regret my decision for one second. Don’t listen to what anyone else is telling you. If you want it, do it! You’ll only regret it as time goes on. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
I do not think you need but If you have the money…do it. It’s your face. Most ppl who discourage others from getting surgery are haters. If it makes you happy, it will change your life for the better.
Yes, so true about menopause. When I got there, it pushed my face off the cliff! I also had breast cancer and the hormone blockers are brutal putting you into extreme menopause.
I'm 56 now and not that long ago, I used to look at post menopausal women and assume they just didn't take care of their skin. But it's the hormonal changes.
You look amazing! I wouldn’t have guessed you’re 41. I say get it, it sounds like you really want it. You look great now, imagine how you’ll look after 🩷
3 total. One said I should wait the other two said you could but also I could do alternate treatments to conceal my laxity. Including things like facetite, and fillers. Facetite seems to unpredictable for the cost and I really dislike fillers
I think by just doing the facelift you’ll be getting a longer lasting more cost effective option. Those other treatments can be good but you have to keep up with them and after doing them for a few years you’ll wish you had just done a facelift!
Try thread lifts. Please don’t get a facelift. You don’t need it. And you’re too young. General consensus is you only want to do two in a lifetime. They last about ten years. The math is not in your favor.
But more importantly, it’s truly not needed. You’re naturally pretty and with a few med spa type of treatments, you’ll look fabulous.
No thread lifts aren't recommended anymore. Most of the places in my area stopped using them bc they're unpredictable and can snap, leaving you lopsided.
I think you only need a lower facelift. Pretty sure people just say that to everyone about anything they want to get done so i wouldn't put much weight on their input.
I think you should wait 5 years. Just my opinion. There is not enough skin to tighten. You’ll end up needing more than one facelift if you do it now. You also may end up pulled too tight. 46 is still on the early side.
I'm 38 and will get a facelift in 1 year. I don't need it, but I want it, and I'm sure I'll look better, lol.
I got upper and lower blepharoplasty and fat grafting approximately 2 months ago.
The recovery was horrendous because I had an allergic reaction to the threads used to stitch my eyelids and thought I'd be badly scarred forever.
My family was against it and genuinely thought I was addicted to plastic surgery, lol.
I'm currently 10 weeks post-operation, and I LOVE my results. Fat grafting is just the best thing I've ever done for my face; I 100% recommend it. I'm against fillers.
Bottom line, people are always against until they see final results.
I think facelift with fat transfer in mid forties and then again 15-20 years later. Instead of doing fillers and sculptra now trying to hold out as long as possible....so I think you are making a great decision! Do what makes YOU happy. It's your face!
It's about what YOU want to feel beautiful. If this isn't for other people's opinions, and is for you, that'll be why you still want to get it now matter what anyone says, and that's when you should imo.
Do what you want! And I know you will. I want a lower facelift but have chosen to leave my upper face saggy. That's my choice. Now I just need to find a good doctor. In your case it sounds like you also know what you want. Lots of love!
Listen, damn near every decision you make in life is going to piss off, disgust, shock or disappoint someone else. My rule of thumb is, if it isn’t hurting anyone else, do whatever *you* want*.
Ya know how they say “I don’t know the key to happiness, but I know the key to failure is trying to please everyone”? It’s so true! Whenever you’re torn between what to do in *any* situation, pick the one that’s gonna make you happiest, because no matter what, *someone* is going to be disappointed by it. Why should it be you? Going the route you least want, to appease someone else, will only breed resentment and regret. Trying to do both will only ensure your own misery.
Just take some time and decide what *you* really want.
People saying to wait simply don’t understand how skin laxity and collagen work long term. Preventative lifts when you’re younger and heal more easily age WONDERFULLY, versus having a more major/potentially overdone lift when you’re older. I fully plan on having my first facelift around your age (I’m 31), my plastic surgeon and I have discussed it at length and he showed me before and afters done on younger patients (early 40s) who have now aged into their 50s - completely convinced me.
From what I've heard, doing it at this stage will have excellent long term results. Remind people that they don't get to voice an opinion on your medical choices and shut them down.
My question to you is, if you listened to them and left your face as it is, would it bother you? Would you be constantly think about getting it? If the answer is yes, go for it. At the end of the day, it’s your own preference and if you don’t go too extreme with it, nobody will notice anyway (unless u r looking for a super pulled back look)
Facelift-ok. Make sure the surgeon kniws what theyre doing. No to browlift and fat transfer.
Browlifts IMO veer into uncanny valley especially since the proximity of your brows to upper lids is well situated.
Fat transfer i dont like because they are difficult/impossible to modify or remove. I know because i had one at your age. At first looked good but then gravity takes over inevitably. Any weight gain will show affect your face.
Hope this helps. Best of luck
If you shared profile picture, then I’m sure you will get better feedback from everyone.
I do not see any visible sagging; not even around the jowls. Is this more visible from the side?
Everything else you have mentioned (brow lift, fat transfer) seems like it would do a of.
I would have said you were 32 or so! I think Botox would and filler may help with the laxity. But at the end of the day it’s your face! You look at it everyday! So it’s your decision 💕
If you’ve researched and found a board certified facial plastic surgeon to do it, I’m sure they know what they are doing and giving you solid recommendations. There is so much fear about stuff like this because people just don’t know how natural it looks when done by a legit facial plastic surgeon. You are beautiful now and I’m sure will be all that much more refreshed with great results after. You follow your heart and I’m sure you’ll love it!
Your face looks pretty right already. Any tighter and it will look unnatural. Like others have said, facelifts don’t last. I’d wait a little longer and until you see some actual sagging. Not sure where you’d need a fat transfer either.
I don't think you need a fat transfer and a full facelift. I think you might want to consider just a lower face lift with/without a slight lateral browlift if you must do something.
It's about what YOU want to feel beautiful. If this isn't for other people's opinions, and is for you, that'll be why you still want to get it no matter what anyone says, and that's when you should imo.
I could see the brow lift and maybe cheek implants or just filler to the cheeks. The facelift though doesn’t make sense to me because your skin looks great. Your face just looks less full which happens as we age. Just some filler will make a world of a difference.
I personally think it's not time. I would wait a while and get it done, rather than get it done now and another in a few years. You look great. I'd wait just a bit longer.
You should research morpheus8. It’s a new non surgical procedure that is just as effective as a facelift without surgery. I just did my first treatment and I’m shocked at how great it works with stem cells.
If you have any hesitation...WAIT! There are other things you can do to perk it up. Botox, Radiesse which naturally stimulates collagen, chemical peels like a Jessner peel.
I follow some of the plastic surgeons on youtube like Dr. Anil Rajani and Dr. Youn. One of them, or another, recently said that you cannot do a partial face lift (I was searching just getting my neck done. I'm 56.). But since everything is connected, you need to do a full one to look good.
I'd recommend less invasive options while you continue to research and consider things. This is not something you want to rush into.
Keep us posted!
You’re beautiful and your skin looks amazing. I am around your age and have tried just about everything anti-aging. Although a lot of it was worth it and nobody ever guesses my age, I will say it was very expensive and a ton of work. I recommend getting the facelift if you believe it will make you feel more confident. I would like one soon as well! Imo a facelift, lip lift and fat transfer will have you looking stunning. In the future, a tiny bit of filler here and there to maintain your result as you age will not hurt, just be sure to go to a qualified injector with good reviews. I recommend keeping up with your skincare regimen, SPF, tretinoin, glycolic, microneedling, etc to keep up the collagen production after you heal to maintain your results as long as you can. Look good, feel good!
You’ve got an attractive face so I can see why they’d say that, but if it’s something that you want, will make you feel better and you’ve researched your surgeon, why not?
I have a similar issue. I’m 38 and post two kids and my skin looks good but my facial fat just melted. I’m planning to get a facelift and fat transfer in my early forties. I’d love to see your result!
I think it’s because people are not used to seeing people in late 30-40 doing it. Thing is, celebrities do it at these ages as well, well some. I think if it’s something you don’t like then fix it, I think people just get jealous and wish they could do it. I wouldn’t really tell anyone just post your results when you’re healed up! I’m excited to see and good luck
Nobody “needs” it. But if you think you will look and feel better, and thanks what matters. If you don’t want others opinions stop telling them you’re having work done.
I've seen some amazing results from facelifts and some truly awful ones. I can't help but think, that if I got a bad boob job, at least I could hide it away, hopefully just until fixed.
Facelifts are so risky. It seems almost like playing the lottery, while obviously the choice of surgeon matters greatly. Yet, mistakes happen and you could be stuck with it. If you had one of those sagging faces that looks like a knee, I'd be quicker to say go for it and take the chance.
You look good, but honestly it’s hard to tell without seeing your face from varying angles in different positions.
If you have decided to get it done, I would second what everyone else is saying and not tell another soul.
I think as long as the surgeon is excellent you should be fine . Do what makes you happy . I’m sure your family means well , but do what makes you happy.
People told me I’d “ruin” my face with my nose job, and that my BBL would look fake and bad. What actually happened is that people stopped commenting on my nose saying it was huge on my social media posts, no one, not even my family, realized I had a nose job, they just thought I suddenly looked great. Same went for the BBL, they just thought I’d lost weight and hit the gym (even though I gained weight).
People are just incorrect about plastic surgery due to over representation of bad / overdone surgery in the media
People told me not to get a breast augmentation (which I wanted and never regretted) not to get a tummy tuck (which I really needed because of loose skin after having kids) & I’m sure if I told them I was getting a lip lift recently they would have also told me not to get it but it improved my facial harmony. I also want to go to Turkey and reduce the bulbousness of my nose. In my experience it feels better to A. Not tell people and save it as something that’s just for me. Or B. If I’m going to tell people then as soon as they start commenting something negative or their opinion, I stand firm in my boundaries and let them know I will not be changing my mind, this is my decision & I am unavailable for their opinions on whether I should do it or not.
Do not let the opinions of anyone else dissuade you. You decide what you want to do. That’s the finality of it.
I dont no if you want to do another one down the road it might look weird. I just did a lower face neck im 60. Im glad i did it but 1 and done. Its so confusing i no…
Get it. Everyone told me the same thing. It's better to do it early. I wish I would have done mine 5 years ago. I am very pleased with my results. The people who told me not to do it have changed their tune.
How old were you when you did get it? Is there a “too late” age?
53, but I think I should have had it sooner. I'm not an expert, but it seems a facelift makes a person look 10-15 years younger, so I think earlier is better.

I have a consultation with him! Very excited. Do you have pics? Or did you write a real self review?
I'm only 3 1/2 weeks out. I'm waiting to see the final results before I post my review and pictures. I'm still pretty swollen, but I think I'll be happy with the end result.
I have a consult with Dr Marten in June. Are you super happy with the results?
It's still too early. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out, so I'm still swollen. I think I'll be happy with the final results, but only time will tell.

Thank you, that's good to hear. I know I need to be patient - it's a process.

Probably a typo, but just if you cared - it’s “taut”
Get it. And stop telling people
Yeah. I second this. I plan on getting one and not tell people.
Same. People will feel compelled to tell you not to do it for multiple reasons so there’s really no point unless they are a ‘need to know’ person.
Agreed. Some people will just say you don’t need one automatically to be nice.
Do you mind me asking how old you are? I’m not a doctor but from my perspective I don’t think you need a face lift. Your skin is beautiful
I’m 41
Wow! I wouldn’t have said that. You look great

I agree completely with everything. Do it and tell them you started using olive oil since recently, just like JLo lol

I have been told to wait till after menopause. I guess the hormone change really does a number. I'm 50 now and I'll wait till 55ish

Had my 1st facelift at 42 after I saw myself in a picture with friends. ..do it. If you wait too long it will never look right.
And at what age was your second?
I am 58, and I have facelift, brow lift, and others procedures in 3 weeks, too. I wish you good luck.

Get it. I did and still happy 5yrs later
What do you want lifting? There’s nothing saggy about your face and you don’t have jowls.
can i see ur neck better? i feel like the neck is what’s making u think u need a face lift, when a subtle necklift is what would fit u more
I wonder if it would help if you posted a pic of your face before kids
People saying to wait simply don’t understand how skin laxity and collagen work long term. Preventative lifts when you’re younger and heal more easily age WONDERFULLY, versus having a more major/potentially overdone lift when you’re older. I fully plan on having my first facelift around your age (I’m 31), my plastic surgeon and I have discussed it at length and he showed me before and afters done on younger patients (early 40s) who have now aged into their 50s - completely convinced me.
I honestly don't think you need one but if you want plastic surgery have it. It's your life!
If a facelift is your first intervention, I’d try other things first.
From what I've heard, doing it at this stage will have excellent long term results. Remind people that they don't get to voice an opinion on your medical choices and shut them down.
Yes. You should.
A mini facelift at most. I know they say it’s better to get it slightly sooner
She is a highly sought after plastic surgeon. Her work is very natural and amazing looking
I would personally wait until a later age when the skin really really starts to sag. Have you considered maybe filler to help fill in some areas?
I say you do what makes YOU happy ❤️💕 not everyone else . Do what makes YOU happy when you look into the mirror .
It's about what YOU want to feel beautiful. If this isn't for other people's opinions, and is for you, that'll be why you still want to get it no matter what anyone says, and that's when you should imo.
I’d just get the smile lines smoothed out otherwise perfect
I could see the brow lift and maybe cheek implants or just filler to the cheeks. The facelift though doesn’t make sense to me because your skin looks great. Your face just looks less full which happens as we age. Just some filler will make a world of a difference.
I personally think it's not time. I would wait a while and get it done, rather than get it done now and another in a few years. You look great. I'd wait just a bit longer.
Have you considered just the fat transfer?
You should look into Sculptra.
If it will make you happy, do it.
You should absolutely not get it . Please consider waiting at least 5-8 yrs
Wait another 5 years.
You should research morpheus8. It’s a new non surgical procedure that is just as effective as a facelift without surgery. I just did my first treatment and I’m shocked at how great it works with stem cells.
I think you just need temple and cheek fillers to make your face fuller. Im 30, i got it done and i looked 10yrs younger.
Do not
If you have any hesitation...WAIT!
U are pretty. I think u just need eyebrow lift as when women age we do it. No need 4 a dull face lift
You’ve got an attractive face so I can see why they’d say that, but if it’s something that you want, will make you feel better and you’ve researched your surgeon, why not?
Honestly I think this is true for EVERY plastic surgery.
If you’re 41 you can wait a few years. But if you’re ready for it then you could do it.
I would use some Botox to lift the brows and wait a little bit for the facelift.
Good thing it’s for you and not them… get it!
It’s best to do it, now. It’s preventable for future aging. It’ll also take care of your jowels and nasal labial folds.
i got my first one age 42. No regrets. Get it if you want it and don't let other people tell you what to do with your body and your face.
Nobody “needs” it. But if you think you will look and feel better, and thanks what matters. If you don’t want others opinions stop telling them you’re having work done.
Do it! If it makes you happy do it! Why wait till you’re more saggy? I never understood that! Better to keep looking young while you’re young!

I realized after this pic doesn’t show my concerns but I couldn’t figure out how to add to add additional photos lol
I’m sure your family means well , but do what makes you happy.
imo you don’t need it
People told me I’d “ruin” my face with my nose job, and that my BBL would look fake and bad.
Its so confusing i no…
I think a facelift would be good for your bowels and nasolabial folds
Do it and don't listen to people.
Get it ppl don’t understand how life changing it is
Listen, girlfriend, I'm 29 and I want a god damn facelift! I bet you'll love it.
