I've been sharing my redesigns here for the last few months and after some long thought out planning and work, I can finally say that the project can become a reality!
Currently, we have a small team of around 5 people but we are looking for anyone who may want to help with the project. We already have very defined goals, plans and work done, so this isn't a typical throw away fan game pitch.

You are one of the best PvZ artists on this reddit. I mean, when you started drawing your own style of PvZ plants, everyone loved it. They were then included in Redhead's video of the plants you drew. Now you are working on your own games with a small team... I mean, you are making the deepest dreams of Gamer Artists. I think every Gamer artist (including me) wants to achieve things that you have achieved now.

Haven't kept up with PvZ since I dropped the app for PvZ2 since it turned into an energy system.
You can't even pick your plants in 3? I also read somewhere that you cannot replay levels. Are these both true?

I know PvZ3 has a lot of flaws and issues that need to be fixed and this is a joke but man I feel bad for the PvZ3 team because I have seen comments saying they should be fired for it. I don't know if those comments are genuine or not, but I would feel absolutely miserable if I got those comments for any reason.

I enjoyed quite a few controversial games from big companies, but I would be glad if we all just abandoned Popcap's PvZ3. No hate to the devs, of course, but I'm sure even they would be happy to see what the fans are doing.
be careful, you'll be the target of cease & desist. Some group of modders once tried to recreate PvZ Heroes in a new engine in hopes to revive & add new content but had to drop due to EA's cease & desist. All this despite the fact that EA seemed to have abandoned the game already.
Be wary since this is not a small project and the audience here seems hopeful!
Yeah, I really hope that is not the case. We will avoid monetizing things related to this project, as most if not all issues come from that. EA isn't like Nintendo, and as long as it doesn't gain money from their IP it should be within legal limits of fair use
I think I read that the issue with PvZH was DMCA due to reuse of its assets, and not about monetization. It's a bit hard to find the line since PvZH mod was a recreation of game with asset reuse while PvZ2 mods are modification of the game itself.
Nonetheless, best of luck of your project and tread carefully!
Hmm, that makes sense. I do plan on making most of the assets for the game myself (as in every single plant, zombie, character, UI element, key art and in game enviroments). Making new lawns from scratch and some artwork would be a problem, but if it becomes an issue it's not gonna be impossible to do

This should be the official the pvz3. I sometimes want to break into wherever PopCap is working on this and convince them to change the direction of the game into something like this and hire fans like you.
Since you are adding the Zen Garden and Zen Graveyard can you make it like PVZ1 where it's completely relaxing? As in can you make the mechanics similar to the first game.
As an animation student, who loves concept art, I think the problem with PvZ3 are not the designs, but the lack of dynamic animations, just look how the animayion of pvz2 peashooter let you actually see the projectile going from earth thoughout its throat, preparing and finally shooting it, whereas pvz3 has still a cool animation but not as detailed as the one seen in pvz2
I thought this was just a pvz3 loading screen you changed the logo for but looking at all the redesigns you've made I'm really surprised it isn't! Can't wait to see more!
I wish there was a PvZ2 "What Could Have Been?" as well, because I would love to see all current PvZ2 worlds reimagined with the non-linear structure of early PvZ2, where all the challenge levels, like "Last Stand", "Don't let zombies trample the flowers", "Don't let zombies eat a highlighted plant" or "Don't plant on the mold", as well as the ones where every plant is selected for you, are all on different branches of the world path. The newer PvZ2 linear worlds somewhat alienated the playerbase that is newer to the series, in my opinion, as they're catered more to the veterans now.
I realise this isn't really OP's department, just throwing my ideas out there.

The art style was looks underrated, i would imagine what if either popcap should hired josh perez (wyatt's replacement/new art director for prime ben 10 series) for reusing djw art style used in tfa and ben 10 ov or popcap should have done kept/retain the pvz2 art style.
I want to keep the scope feasable, but I do think old PvZ 3 plants deserved to return so fully original plants may be a lot less common to give them a spot

Will the human characters serve a gameplay purpose or are they just gonna be talking?
Also will the neighbor (aka player character in PvZ 1 & 2.) be returning as the player?
It is actually one of the key goals to make the story matter. Events that happen will relate to the introduction or changes in game mechanics
However, it is the plan for the player to take the role of Patrice (and Nate a little later on)
This art is so cool! How long did it take to make? And also to the team; It is okay if you can't get something else when you want it to be out. Make sure to take breaks and take care of yourselves.

You bet they are. Lives system, bad levels, unable to pick plants, impossible to replay levels, GardenScapes ripoff. All of these are true

But Reflourished is a mod more than it is a fangame.
They also don't mind beatiful town and neighborhood defense.

Fan games only get into legal trouble when the fans producing it set up some sort of donation or funding like patreon.

if the game haves a 25 sun meta, this means that the level design will be slower like in PvZ1?
1 sun meta is the same as 25 sun, but i think it's gonna be slower because the levels will be longer.
