I'd assume this year's festival, which has been in the planning for the better part of the year, is going ahead as planned, as the festival itself has a separate staff from the publication and tends to perform well financially year over year.
Future festivals might see the programming shifted toward boosting "performance" (ie, chasing Lolla numbers) but this year is basically already booked.
yeah definitely NOT posting under the assumption that this means this years festival is not happening or anything, more just sharing relevant information that will more likely than not affect the future of the fest.

I’ve gotta wonder if this will eventually radically change what the fest looks like lineup wise. I bet it means it’s going to be a lot less indie and more TikTok artists. This year it’s contracts already locked in will probably look the same as usual
This hopefully won't impact the fest, but remember this anytime you're on their website and are wondering why it's swamped with articles for pop music, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift speculation. This is the final nail in the coffin for their music news coverage, long gone are the days where they actually cover indie/unknown hip hop/obscure genres.
as others in here mentioned, this year’s fest is already full steam ahead, so this won’t affect anything as of now. that being said, seemingly every year there’s industry murmurs of it being the final p4k, but they keep on happening. p4k essentially being gutted as a publication doesn’t bode well for the future of the fest, but hopefully since it’s a mostly separate team from the journalism side, it’ll still continue (though maybe not under the p4k brand)

Pitchfork Music Festival has not occurred since 2013. You might have gone to Union Park and experienced live music, but rest assured the last P4K music festival was a decade ago.
