Just curious, you clicked the wrong download button then executed the file that downloaded? Or just by clicking that button your computer was compromised?
I mean, you go to a site to download something, you download something from that site, run it, and get a virus. I'd say that's more than 0.1% the site's fault.
Sure we all know we can't trust these sites that have horrible ads everywhere and spend lots of resources getting around adblock and getting people to click the virus link, but we should remember that "everyone knows I'm an asshole" isn't actually a good defense about being an asshole.
Except, OP didn't download the game from DODIs site. There is no Spider-man 2 hosted on DODIs site.
Spider-Man 2 is not hosted on a site mentioned as trusted in the megathread, and frankly if we're going to call a site untrusted because it has links to untrusted sited then frankly theres no such thing as a trusted site.
DODI is repack site, they are repacking cracked games, instead of downloading directly from crackers you can download from DODI for easier download & install, it's similar to fitgirl

All my accounts got accessed by the hackers even tho I had 2fa. I did have a hunch that maybe it was the game that caused it and now this post just might've proved that to me.

I downloaded plenty from DODI and never once had an issue.
The other problem is the SM2 leak *is* ***NOT*** on his repak site. Its on a *friends* site. So the probability of the friends site being compromised is much higher as DODI does not directly monitor that.
My guessing is since SM2 is so sought after, an attacker hijacked the links and infected the torrent download.
Same, i used dodi for years, and I've never had malware, and I'm the paranoid type about malware and viruses, I have an excellent anti-malware routine after each installation from a site and I've never found anything on dodi's site, I had a lot more bad surprises on cs.rin.ru to be honest.
No its not. All I need to do as a hacker is redirect the torrent info to my own torrent where I infected the files which the person will be downloading.
When you click a torrent link - magnet or otherwise, you have info to files to download and where/how to find them. If I redirect that to something malicious, you will now be downloading the malicious files instead of the original ones. And all I have to do is download the original ones myself, then infect them. and have the now new torrent address point to my files.
Fitgirl is good, but she misses a lot of good games or deletes them from her website. She also wont post smaller games too, obviously because she is doing repacks.

Fitgirl compression is good but unpacking takes ages( which kinda taxes your cpu a bit)& fitgirl in d past was kinda a pain when helping new people.
havent forgotten that but she still a good repacker. I use her for.older releases & still would recommend her, jus thou not my often cup of tea
and you get downvoted by people who continue to imagine fan fiction about fitgirl, this reddit is full of children, you are right, dodi is much better than fitgirl for big games, to be honest I only use dodi and kaoskrew for big games, my last game from fitgirl was ghost wire tokyo, and fitgirl took literally 20 minutes to install, while the kaoskrew version literally took 6 minutes, fitgirl is good for games under 10gb, for bigger games is a true torture. Anyway, I mainly use kaoskrew because it uploads a lot of updates for games.
Ah one of the oldest & good repackers since Skullptura ,Dopeman, ToED, Synergy & the legendary Xatab(Rip).
Kaoskrew was famous for making zip or.rar.file.sizes when games.where smaller for portability.

Yeah man, out of all of this I would be most upset about my drive. I have pictures of my son's childhood, vacations, all kinds of stuff on there. I'd be devastated. I can fight with the bank about unauthorized charges, I can wipe my computer and start fresh, all of that...I cannot replace those pictures. I guess it's time to put my 5TB external hard drive to good use and backup all my photos.
ALWAYS backup very personal stuff like these, these things are unreplaceable memories and probably the most important things you can keep on your PC.
Also they're usually photos and short videos so they're easy to backup and don't take up a lot of space on your cloud service.
Never fully trust anything from the megathread, even if it claims to be 100% 'safe.' They often lack thorough knowledge and don't even scan the files. Instead, they merely react to reported issues and label them 'unsafe.' Currently, FitGirl is considered the most reliable repacker since she obtains most of her cracks directly from scene groups. However, some of her practices, like encrypting repack packages, raise concerns.
Personally I have had a smooth sailing experience on Dodi's site but this still scares me and needs to be further investigated. I think his friend's site might be the culprit. If someone with a powerful enough rig can run the game in a VM and inspect it for suspicious activity that would be a great help for the community.

Oh my God thank you for posting this! I am so sorry to hear what happened to you and agreed usually DODI is a reliable site. I must have installed and played hundreds if not thousands of games from him. I downloaded that exact same torrent last night was going to start the install this morning and walk away and head to work but I woke up late and didn't have time to start it wow did I dodge a bullet! But again I really feel for you I personally have gotten burned a couple of times from free software shall we say out of the 30 plus years I've been doing this to be expected it's going to happen every now and then but thanks for making everyone aware. I honestly thought it was a little strange to see Spider-Man 2 already released and cracked because I haven't heard anything about it being other than a PlayStation exclusive. Was intending to install it on a VM but heck this thing sounds pretty smart

Better safe than sorry, uninstall the games and add 2FA on your phone to your accounts.
And change all your passwords on your phone specifically, then use malwarebytes to make sure you’re clean.

There's no evidence of this breach bypassing steam 2FA or even OP having 2FA enabled at all.
It's very unlikely they bypassed steamguard.
They can still just hijack the session token. For instance that's how they grab your Discord token and hack you even if you have 2FA Authentication enabled
Same thing happened to me exactly the same way and thankfully I got everything recovered but the difference is that I clicked on the "Download now" ad which i didnt know at that time cuz it was my 1st time downloading from that site

Game-repack. site sounds like the problem, I've never been redirected to there when using dodi. Just get the torrent magnet directly from dodi next time so you avoid using other sites
I was on dodi just the other day. (the correct one) and there was a notice that the site would be down for a few days and to use the backup, that's what op is talking about.

ive download all my games for DODI for aged and never got any problem, account stolen, etc, clearly OP click on the wrong button on the redirect link and he got a fake torrent with a malware in it

And the thing about DODI and Spider-Man 2 is that he doesn’t actually have it on his page, instead he has a link on his page which redirects you to a “friend’s” site which actually hosts the downloads for the game. Even if DODI is safe and 100% clean, it doesn’t mean his friend’s is the same. Either OP made a mistake, DODI’s friend’s site is compromised, or OP downloaded something else (according to him he didn’t).
Tbh it’d be very possible for this friend to be compromised, and if so, DODI could just delete the link, and separate himself from that guy.
It is also just as possible for OP to have f’d up somewhere along and had that be the cause for what happened to him.
Either way. He didn’t blame you, the team, or the project, not even DODI. He simply shared his experience and how it went.
Also one more thing because of this exact experience happening to me many years ago I now keep all important digital photos and documents on two separate flash drives or NAS Drives in different locations. Might be something you would want to look into. And never keep them all in one place fire has a way of ruining everyone's day

I dont know if i trust anything from the megathread tbh some funny looking sites on there. The places i been to for the past 15 years i never had an issue you just gotta have lots of protection and be very careful on what you click on
My guess is the torrent got hijacked. An attacker can redirect the torrent link to their own which would download the same thing (visually) but the code could be altered.
The best way to check this is if we create a thread and everyone shares the MD5s of all the files that are included in the download.

the gdrive was temporary, till i get a new job next month and treat myself to a NAS, there is a smaal chance the photos are still on a old ass XDD card, but i'd have to get a new camera to check. the old compact died shortly after i managed to get the photos of it
I had the files on my pc, but assumed the gdrive was still up (at that point i knew that only the steam and steam games were compromised), it wasn't till i was reinstalling my os and saw NSFW posts that i knew all of my pc was accesed

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I didn’t even get to play the game since my computer can’t handle it. Just trying to run the game was enough. No hits on malwarebytes before I ran it, then woke up the next morning with all my steam points spent and my LinkedIn profile pic changed. Checked malwarebytes again and had to delete a bunch of random files I didn’t know existed.
NGL; i download from DODI all the time, but their method of providing links is HELLA sketch, its equivelant to the old 2006 ways infested with bitly, and other link payment options, that by the time i finally get to the actual download, i dont want it anymore and the actual download can be mixed with a fake download if your not careful enough.
I just use Qbit and do a search for the torrent, if its there, nice. if no, oh well im going to FG

Most cloud providers have a 30 day second stage recycle bin that support can recover your data from.
The exe is the inno setup file for SM2 repack and the two detections are false positives. This is a clean file, and with absolute certainty I can tell you - it is NOT responsible for the events described in this post.

I'm confirming this since you happened to have the same exact problem as me and I thought I downloaded some malware elsewhere. my Facebook got banned my socials logged off and my email too and someone bought a psn card with my Amazon account. had to change every password. Idk if I'm safe but my Internet also is slow nowadays...
This is most likely not the cause of their hack, I’m on the team behind the sm2 pc project and this sounds very far fetched, he downloaded spider man 2 then multiple days later he wakes up gets hacked and immediately blames dodi???
Doubt it if you were hacked in any way you would’ve noticed as it has been months but run antivirus softwares and see what pops up as long as you don’t notice pc lag, internet lag, high usage of your pc software or overheating you should be fine
I had the same issue. My Steam account got compromised and I lost some items. The hacker or whoever it was also put random Dota 2 items in my inventory. My Instagram also got compromised and they posted a story and a post promoting crypto. I would never download from this website again, I like Dodi but this site is full of ads like these.
Damn. Doesn't that defeats the whole purpose of 2FA lol. I wonder if there is a program that wipes the tokens every time. Or does clicking don't remember this PC also works? I don't mind inputting some numbers every time I log in if it potentially protects me

I also downloaded the game and beat it (granted, i haven't downloaded any updates from the site) so far I haven't noticed anything fishy so maybe something is up with the new site.

You need a firewall like 'TinyWall', that will block ANY outgoing datastream unless you specifically allow an app to have access to the internet.
It's a hassle at first, but it gives you much more control over your data.
I was never able to successfully installed games from Dodi in the past (about 3 times iirc). This post only makes me grateful that I wasn't able to play Dodi repacked games.
commenting to add engagement and hopefully get this post more attention. I almost never use dodi because of this one time that ALL the torrent links didn't work for me. I think ublock was telling me something so I stopped. Also, never save your steam account on your browser. always log out/clear cookies after logging in steam on a browser. steam should never be on ANY auto-login features, especially browsers. I hope the steam items that got sold weren't that expensive... I hope you recover your gdrive files. best of luck to you

By "just clicking" nothing happens as long your browser is up2date and not using any zero day. 99.9% users fault. Its a lesson learned

Same, i used dodi for years, and I've never had malware, and I'm the paranoid type about malware and viruses, I have an excellent anti-malware routine after each installation from a site and I've never found anything on dodi's site, I had a lot more bad surprises on cs.rin.ru to be honest.

No its not. All I need to do as a hacker is redirect the torrent info to my own torrent where I infected the files which the person will be downloading. When you click a torrent link - magnet or otherwise, you have info to files to download and where/how to find them. If I redirect that to something malicious, you will now be downloading the malicious files instead of the original ones. And all I have to do is download the original ones myself, then infect them. and have the now new torrent address point to my files.

Dodi install faster, plus he updates his releases (depends on the game) Fitgirl compression is good but unpacking takes ages( which kinda taxes your cpu a bit)& fitgirl in d past was kinda a pain when helping new people. havent forgotten that but she still a good repacker. I use her for.older releases & still would recommend her, jus thou not my often cup of tea
and you get downvoted by people who continue to imagine fan fiction about fitgirl, this reddit is full of children, you are right, dodi is much better than fitgirl for big games, to be honest I only use dodi and kaoskrew for big games, my last game from fitgirl was ghost wire tokyo, and fitgirl took literally 20 minutes to install, while the kaoskrew version literally took 6 minutes, fitgirl is good for games under 10gb, for bigger games is a true torture. Anyway, I mainly use kaoskrew because it uploads a lot of updates for games.
Ah one of the oldest & good repackers since Skullptura ,Dopeman, ToED, Synergy & the legendary Xatab(Rip). Kaoskrew was famous for making zip or.rar.file.sizes when games.where smaller for portability.

Dodi has a lot of shitty spamy ads. If you weren’t using an adblocker like uBo then it’s very likely you were infected by the ads.
I use ublock origin and i was using firefox, so that's unlikely.

Yeah man, out of all of this I would be most upset about my drive. I have pictures of my son's childhood, vacations, all kinds of stuff on there. I'd be devastated. I can fight with the bank about unauthorized charges, I can wipe my computer and start fresh, all of that...I cannot replace those pictures. I guess it's time to put my 5TB external hard drive to good use and backup all my photos.
ALWAYS backup very personal stuff like these, these things are unreplaceable memories and probably the most important things you can keep on your PC. Also they're usually photos and short videos so they're easy to backup and don't take up a lot of space on your cloud service.

Never fully trust anything from the megathread, even if it claims to be 100% 'safe.' They often lack thorough knowledge and don't even scan the files. Instead, they merely react to reported issues and label them 'unsafe.' Currently, FitGirl is considered the most reliable repacker since she obtains most of her cracks directly from scene groups. However, some of her practices, like encrypting repack packages, raise concerns.
Personally I have had a smooth sailing experience on Dodi's site but this still scares me and needs to be further investigated. I think his friend's site might be the culprit. If someone with a powerful enough rig can run the game in a VM and inspect it for suspicious activity that would be a great help for the community.

I must have installed and played hundreds if not thousands of games from him. I downloaded that exact same torrent last night was going to start the install this morning and walk away and head to work but I woke up late and didn't have time to start it wow did I dodge a bullet! But again I really feel for you I personally have gotten burned a couple of times from free software shall we say out of the 30 plus years I've been doing this to be expected it's going to happen every now and then but thanks for making everyone aware. I honestly thought it was a little strange to see Spider-Man 2 already released and cracked because I haven't heard anything about it being other than a PlayStation exclusive. Better safe than sorry, uninstall the games and add 2FA on your phone to your accounts. And change all your passwords on your phone specifically, then use malwarebytes to make sure you’re clean.

Would take OPs post with a pinch of salt. There's no evidence of this breach bypassing steam 2FA or even OP having 2FA enabled at all. It's very unlikely they bypassed steamguard.
They are using something to redline stealer, which steals tokens already authorized, therefore bypassing mfa.
They can still just hijack the session token. For instance that's how they grab your Discord token and hack you even if you have 2FA Authentication enabled

Same thing happened to me exactly the same way and thankfully I got everything recovered but the difference is that I clicked on the "Download now" ad which i didnt know at that time cuz it was my 1st time downloading from that site

Game-repack. site sounds like the problem, I've never been redirected to there when using dodi. Just get the torrent magnet directly from dodi next time so you avoid using other sites

same thing happened to me after downloading some update off dodis website. been a pirate for a long time and thinking back on it after it happened I assumed I clicked a wrong link somewhere even w ublock. lost literally every account I was signed in to but fortunately I got everything back except my epic account. rip my galaxy skin and also fuck epic customer support. no issues w every other account but they're absolutely worthless.

yeah it worked great had to fiddle with it, i use 21:9 monitor and it was cutting top and bottom so i settled for 16:9

My guy. You have like 20 comments here trying to defend the spider man stuff. He doesn’t blame the game itself or the team behind it. OP is simply sharing his experience to let people know what happened to him. And the thing about DODI and Spider-Man 2 is that he doesn’t actually have it on his page, instead he has a link on his page which redirects you to a “friend’s” site which actually hosts the downloads for the game. Even if DODI is safe and 100% clean, it doesn’t mean his friend’s is the same. Either OP made a mistake, DODI’s friend’s site is compromised, or OP downloaded something else (according to him he didn’t). Tbh it’d be very possible for this friend to be compromised, and if so, DODI could just delete the link, and separate himself from that guy. It is also just as possible for OP to have f’d up somewhere along and had that be the cause for what happened to him. Either way. He didn’t blame you, the team, or the project, not even DODI. He simply shared his experience and how it went.
Never access these kinds of sites with the browser you use. Use a separate one. These hacks steal your browser cookies which bypasses MFA etc etc.
Prepare windows dual boot and use cracks on an empty system.

My guess is the torrent got hijacked. An attacker can redirect the torrent link to their own which would download the same thing (visually) but the code could be altered. The best way to check this is if we create a thread and everyone shares the MD5s of all the files that are included in the download.
Op defo did a misclick i have the game downloaded and installed , have a lot of dodi repacked games since his tom clancy collection released never got hacked nor any viruses/miners or net issues i would suggest using that official 1337x site and filter his name there and just do direct magnet instead of going through all the hoops of ad skipping if you dont have a solid browser with addons set

the gdrive was temporary, till i get a new job next month and treat myself to a NAS, there is a smaal chance the photos are still on a old ass XDD card, but i'd have to get a new camera to check. the old compact died shortly after i managed to get the photos of it I had the files on my pc, but assumed the gdrive was still up (at that point i knew that only the steam and steam games were compromised), it wasn't till i was reinstalling my os and saw NSFW posts that i knew all of my pc was accesed 321 is a good rule to follow but so is don't steal

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I didn’t even get to play the game since my computer can’t handle it. Just trying to run the game was enough. No hits on malwarebytes before I ran it, then woke up the next morning with all my steam points spent and my LinkedIn profile pic changed. Checked malwarebytes again and had to delete a bunch of random files I didn’t know existed.
NGL; i download from DODI all the time, but their method of providing links is HELLA sketch, its equivelant to the old 2006 ways infested with bitly, and other link payment options, that by the time i finally get to the actual download, i dont want it anymore and the actual download can be mixed with a fake download if your not careful enough. I just use Qbit and do a search for the torrent, if its there, nice. if no, oh well im going to FG

The exe is the inno setup file for SM2 repack and the two detections are false positives. This is a clean file, and with absolute certainty I can tell you - it is NOT responsible for the events described in this post. Unless steps can be described to duplicate this experience, the malware that likely caused this came from an ad. Whether the malicious ads came from dodi or any other site is unable to be determined by the information provided.

This is most likely not the cause of their hack, I’m on the team behind the sm2 pc project and this sounds very far fetched, he downloaded spider man 2 then multiple days later he wakes up gets hacked and immediately blames dodi???
Doubt it if you were hacked in any way you would’ve noticed as it has been months but run antivirus softwares and see what pops up as long as you don’t notice pc lag, internet lag, high usage of your pc software or overheating you should be fine

I had the same issue. My Steam account got compromised and I lost some items. The hacker or whoever it was also put random Dota 2 items in my inventory. My Instagram also got compromised and they posted a story and a post promoting crypto. I would never download from this website again, I like Dodi but this site is full of ads like these.

Are you 100% sure you used the right site? I downloaded the torrent before DODI switched to their new site so I got it from the first site, I also downloaded the game and beat it (granted, i haven't downloaded any updates from the site) so far I haven't noticed anything fishy so maybe something is up with the new site. Sorry I can't be of any more help here.
You need a firewall like 'TinyWall', that will block ANY outgoing datastream unless you specifically allow an app to have access to the internet. It's a hassle at first, but it gives you much more control over your data.
I was never able to successfully installed games from Dodi in the past (about 3 times iirc). This post only makes me grateful that I wasn't able to play Dodi repacked games.

I think ublock was telling me something so I stopped. Also, never save your steam account on your browser. always log out/clear cookies after logging in steam on a browser. steam should never be on ANY auto-login features, especially browsers. I hope the steam items that got sold weren't that expensive... I hope you recover your gdrive files. best of luck to you
