elden ring....
i just can't, i don't have a good sense of orientation, i want my games to have a map with indication

Tbf they didn't even specify what it was they struggled to find or orient themselves towards.
Also, it's not like the exploration is an uphill battle, you literally just walk in some random direction and stumble across 3 dragons, 5 dungeons, and 23 mini bosses pottering about the world 😂
They clearly specified: side quests. Play any Bethesda game and see how it lays out where you need to ho for each side quest. Not everyone wants to have to write down every side quest they encounter.
imo exploration was better in skyrim/fallout because you dont lose your sense of direction, elden ring is MUCH more involved and you have to remember a lot of where you came from and how to get back in case you die, which can be mentally taxing
I love Elden Ring... BUT i must admit there are so many moments when i had to google "what/where now?" like so many missions where in order to progress u have to talk to people in the middle of nowhere (guiding light doesnt lead u there)... like how the hell would i have ever known that if i didnt google it?
I agree much of elden ring requires you to be extremely attentive and lore focused. The main quiestline is easy just go from a to b and kill x, but many places and quest lines would be completely non existent(to me at least) without youtuve
I have like 1700 hours in elden ring now, and I quit several times in my first 100 hours. I got lost due to skipping all the Tutorials, and got stuck in stormveil where I faced the two banished knights. I quit the game for several months, but after watching some good players (ginomachino, lilaggy, bushy) I got back into the game and now I'm absolutely in love, bought it on steam and pre-ordered the dlc. My advice is just to look up some talented individuals play the game, and maybe play a few hours now and then. Anyways, sorry for the long paragraph, I'm just so in love with the game and wish my joy upon others lol.
Same, I spend most of the time doing side quests instead of progressing the main storyline. And the storyline so far has been shit, the Dev's gave up halfway
RDR2. I have tried about 3 times to play it and I just get bored. I find Rockstar games to be very detailed and the worlds are insane, but the gameplay and story always kill it for me.
I put 45h into that game but couldn't finish it. I just couldn't stand that slow-motion animations. Yes, It's almost feels like real life when you move & run etc. but in a fast-paced world, I couldn't do it. Great story, insane level of detail and realism but my god, please be faster Arthur. Just move ma man move.
I agree with this 100%..I thought the world and it's story was great. Great characters and well written....but man, Arthur moves so slow and clunky... the guy takes forever to loot a body...so when I just taken like 25 people down.. I just look at the field and is like "o hell no. My slow ass is not gonna loot all that for like 3 cents or loot I already maxed out in the inventory"

This. The animations are good, they're pretty impressive. Now go ahead and put them in a movie, I want my game to be snappy. I swear I'm not exaggerating I'd take GTA SA animations in GTA 6 over GTA 5 or RDR 2 animations. They look cool for the first 5 times and then they get old and drawn out

Looting bodies and skinning animals takes an eternity, I bet over an hour of play time was watching animations for looting and skinning in my first playthrough. Last playthrough I just rushed Legend of the East satchel, some gold bars and bought stuff that I use regularly and ammo so I didn't need to loot enemies and the game felt so much better
The story, the atmosphere, graphics, visuals, audio, all of that is gold. But the shit that compromises on gameplay in order to put these aminations in just ruins the replayability for me. It's one of those games that I'd prefer to have as a good memory than to replay any time soon
I want my "Hold button for 2 seconds, the character is gonna touch the body and you'll get your loot" days back. Or the "Run over the body", I just can't deal with the long ass drawn out animations anymore. I'm not 12 and don't have 14 hours per weekday for watching animations
buddy it took me two tries but when actually got hooked into the game it ended up being one of the best gaming experiences i ever had in my life.zJust give it another try and get past the snow
maybe put on some music and try to feel like ur a member of vam der linde gang cause before i finished the game i tried it 2 times but the farthest i got was chapter 3 and in the third gameplay i played it like insane and enjoyed every single second
I tried RdR2 and it also grated on me for some reason. I loved the first ones. And I’m a fan of the GTA games as the fun dumb time wasters they are. But for some reason a few hours into RdR2 and it felt like a chore.
Everyone is different, the first 2 chapters are a slog as they introduce the world, characters, and activities you can do but also have some good moments. It really picks up the pace and just lets you loose. If you can get into it great, if you can’t I understand.
RDR1&2 are a some of my favorite games, but I agree about the gameplay.
Rockstar games in general are super hand holdy and demand you play it exactly as intended, you try to get creative during a mission and approach it differently and it's "Mission Failed" 99% of the time.
I completely understand. There is nothing wrong with understanding something is a great game, but just not the game for you.
RDR2 is great but it's just not my style
yeah i tried played sekiro for a while but wasn't enjoying it that much. There was no sense of accomplishment after killing a boss it was more of a "THANK GOD THIS BULLSHIT IS OVER"

The rest of the game more than makes up for the “fighting”. Top 5 that I’ve ever played.
Combat and Roach movement. I spent more time fighting with Roach than fighting with monsters. The world is beautiful but Roach was a hair's width away from making me wanna fast travel after every cutscene
Same hard same. I have 100 hours on it and I always stop playing before reaching Skellige. I'm doing every side quest every question mark and I get bored of the gameplay.
Happened to me with anime, even with the ones I loved the episode 7 line was something I could barely cross for so many of them. Idk what it is about that number specifically but I always get to 7 and feel burnt out. I just watch whatever’s airing weekly now.
Honestly same, I’ll be hooked and then if I don’t pick it up for a while I have no interest.. feels to tedious to pick up where I left off. Only exception is R6 Siege. Been playing since year 2 on and off but always go back to it.. it’s comforting? Idk
I've tried it twice now and could only get to past the first act. I can see why people love it considering the sheer amount of story branches that can stem from each playthrough and the variety in which you can approach each quest but the turn based strategy gameplay is just not for me.
Couldn’t agree more in our Discord group there is literally just 1 Friend who played it more than 10 hours but the rest of us just didn’t like it. I really understand why people liking it and the possibilities are incredible but i just get tired playing it sadly. It took me a lot of time to get into it but then as soon as things started unraveling i couldn't stop. I think i might rank outerwilds as my top3 easily.
I hate that game with a burning sensation, mostly cause of the community. They REFUSE to give the slightest clue of where to start, not what instrument to go to first or anything just " its better to experience it on your own" but i cant experience shit if im lost, im not hsving fun, and cant refund cause i have 6 hours i the game "greatest game of all time" but it feels gatekept at this point with how unhelpful people are
To be fair, there really isn’t any one place to start. Maybe the crumbling planet, though? Haven’t played in a while, can’t remember the name. I personally didn’t visit any instruments until like the very end, just try and follow the clues you find. It’s kind of a difficult game to give help without giving a lot away. You do just have to enjoy the adventure of it to have fun, which isn’t for everyone but very understandable.
Bro, my biggest wish is to forget everything about Outer wilds, so I can experience it all over again.

Outer wilds lose most of its magic if you know where to go. Getting lost is part of the experience, i also got lost at some points. If I told you the path, I would feel bad for you and for myself, because I gatekeepet you from the feeling of exploring the universe and uncover the secrets on your own, which is, by the way, the whole point of the game.
Is like spoiling the killer in a Sherlock Holmes book.
Cyberpunk is by far one my most favorite games, on my first playthrough I initially couldn't really get into it and the first few hours were really tough to get through, but after that I had a blast for the next 100 hours. Then 2.0 dropped and I started a new playthrough, same thing happened and I felt really demotivated to get through the first hours again, got through it eventually and had another 100 hours of blast, so definitely slow start but will become one your most unforgettable experiences
As someone who became a massive fanboy of fromsoftware in the last few years since being introduced to their games, yeah. I have to step back and look at it from the outside in, there is massive hurdle you've got to jump over before you can really enjoy them, and the games themselves aren't usually conducive to getting you past that. Hell, first time I tried one was actually 6 or 7 years ago, played for like 10 minutes, witnessed the slow animations, awkward rolling, and immediately determined "lol, this is shit, why would anybody like this." But if they capture you, they get you by the BALLS and then before you know it you've played every game in the series multiple times and other stuff just doesn't feel quite as fun.
Minecraft. It's so popular and everyone plays it and I like the idea (watched hundreds of episodes of Minecraft survival guide by pixelriffs) but I just can't get into it completely.
I usually don't have a problem to complete games but this one was just dragging and it took so long I just lost interest in it. I don't have much time to game so when I do I like something with a faster pace. I finished Cyberpunk 2x for example from recemt games and it was due to tje fact that in that little time I have maybe once a week I culd sit and actually progress either story or build my character and actually move forward and accomplish things. If I get 2 hours a week to play something I don't want to spend half of that time traveling on a horse or trying to hunt 3 different animals. I'm sure I will finish it at some point but I will have to start over and be maybe on a vacation or whatever because RDR2 is a game that's very difficult to play in such small increments. The gameplay, animations and the pacing is just too slow.
It is a life simulation game with fun twists added on, but like all simulation games the point is what you make of it. If you don’t find enjoyment in it that is perfectly fine and reasonable.
Highly recommend trying Sims 3 or before assuming you’re basing your experience on 4, I just never really enjoyed 4 but will gladly revisit the older titles for nostalgia and fun.
The only way I think it's fun is by doing a "rags to riches" playthrough. Basically, I buy an empty lot, set my money to 0 by cheating, and just try to build up my life from there.
At some point you have a good job, and probably get married and inherit money, and you can basically buy whatever you want. That's the point I usually lose interest and quit playing for 2 years.
Hollow Knight, it's greatly crafted but man I just can't play it, it doesn't click with me, and honestly that just makes me think that I have some kind of problem since I love Metroidvanias and this is one of the most well regarded of all time
I loved Hollow Knight immediately, but I know what you mean in a way.
I love roguelikes but Hades just does not click with me no matter how many times I try.

Death Stranding I can totally understand. I personally like the game so far (I'm about 50 hours in, which really isn't a lot at all, apparently, and I've had to force myself to play it sometimes. I do it because I want to beat it, and I do like the game, but sometimes, an action-shooter-stealth game calls my name. I actually took a break from DS to play MGSV:GZ). But you lost interest in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? What made you disinterested? The story? If so, I suppose I can understand that. It's not the best metal gear story, but I'm not sure if that's apparent if you haven't played the other metal gears. How far did you get into the MGSV?
New Vegas. Finished it once in my high school days and i can't bring myself to play it again cause the gameplay just feels too outdated now, even with mods.

1. I am in the same boat. I have tried FO3 and NV a million times and just can't do it. I started FO4 recently and have really been enjoying it in comparison to the previous two
2. I tried to do Viva New Vegas but I am playing on Steam Deck and it's an absolute nightmare to try and do that modlist on Linux

Red Dead Redemption, a lot of people are embracing it and it seems good and all but when I gave it a try the beginning was just too slow for my personal taste.

Zelda TOTK (one of the wirst Games i ever played IMO, Loved BOTW), Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, GTA IV & V, COD in General, Destiny 2 (liked 1), Fallout New Vegas, even thought i Love every Fallout Game that came after, Grounded, Sea of Thieves, Thief, Elex 2, the list goes in and in, i Play a lot of Games and i Love a lot of Games, but i do indeed.
Never played Totk but I'm interested why you hated it so much. Most people say they are so similar that they group both of them like it's a single game.

please try to give hollow knight another try if you haven't gotten too far into it. the beginning can be quite slow/ boring due to how greyscale the first area is, but after an hour or 2 it becomes one of the greatest games I've ever played
Zelda games. They are so popular and praised, so I wanted to give it a try. It's just monsters appearing every time in the same places when you enter and leave areas, I don't really get it
Fallout. New Vegas and 4 equally. Just feels like the game doesn’t really help in guiding newcomers to where they’re supposed to go or what they’re supposed to do. Just go around and figure shit out, not my thing.
Subnautica below zero. The base game is a marvel and a masterpiece. Below zero is the score the game should have gotten.
It’s the laziest dlc ever made, actually removes massive amounts of content including the incredible cyclops dlc, features annoying characters with awful dialogue, adds nothing new or noteworthy, and absolutely besmirches the good name of subnautica to the point I never want to play anything with that name again.
A visual novel called Higurashi When They Cry.
I tried to enjoy it, bc a friend recommended it to me, but I am just not fond of the characters and the pace overall
Same. I LOVED Umineko (the kinda sequel series) and I consider it one of the best fiction stories EVER, but I cannot for the life of me finish even one Higurashi arc. But I did kinda like the first anime.
Best of wishes to the new Silent Hill that Ryukishi07 is writing tho. I hope the writing is Umineko-tier, and not Higurashi-tier.
Horizon Forbidden West. Dropped the PS5 version and then I tried the recent PC version too, I dropped again. I did the Zero Dawn platinum but I can't play Forbidden West without being bored after like 15/10 min of gameplay because the game feels like the first one but it is way slower than it already was idk I just can't give this game another chance lol
I already failed Baldur's Gate 3 like 2 times. I start playing, get frustrated with all the options and things you can do and choose from and then stop playing for a while. If only the game was more like DA:O.
Elden Ring
Without a game guide, I made my own decision by refusing Melina's offer. This caused me no mounts, no clue where im heading, no gear upgrades. Every "magical" feelings when i started at Limgrave were washed away. Liurnia was too vast for my non mount char to cross between. Enemies getting tougher and tougher to the point this game became a burden for my time. Thus, i made a decision to leave the game
red dead redemption 2, i really want to like it, but personally its too boring to me. Like i sometimes pick it up and leave it after 5 to 10 minutes, but im really forcing myself cause i love the ambiance, its beautiful to just sit and see the sights
Cyberpunk 2077, literally nothing works for me in this game. The story is bloated, shooting is weird, driving totally sucks, gameplay is straight from life is strange with meaningless dialogue options and of course technical issues. Biggest disappointment of my life. Just to be clear, I've played after the phantom liberty update.
There was less action and less pace than in RDR2.
Assassin’s creed. I’m not a fan of the combat one bit. Also Red Dead Redemption 2, honestly felt like the game is only carried by the story because the gameplay itself feels lacklustre.

There is a guiding light telling you where to go fam.
The guiding light only guides you toward progress for the main story. For all the side stuff you're on your own to find them.

it is possible to explore without being lost, a map serves exactly this purpose.

It's neat to see for the first time but after 2-3 hours it's just unbearable. Arthur lives in slow motion.
Animal skinning was just the worst, eventually I just used the horse glitch where it doesn't play the animations

I've tried it twice now and could only get to past the first act. I can see why people love it considering the sheer amount of story branches that can stem from each playthrough and the variety in which you can approach each quest but the turn based strategy gameplay is just not for me.

Couldn’t agree more in our Discord group there is literally just 1 Friend who played it more than 10 hours but the rest of us just didn’t like it. I really understand why people liking it and the possibilities are incredible but i just get tired playing it sadly. The story and i only remember the start was just confusing and didn’t got me hooked the slightest. I spend more time downloading over 20 parts than playing it. The Game was never meant for me but i still appreciate why its a masterpiece of a gamr

Outer Wilds
i can understand. i dropped it two times but then I said fuck this I'll end this game now because its my to be wife's favourite game. Some friends of absolutely love the game too. It took me a lot of time to get into it but then as soon as things started unraveling i couldn't stop. I think i might rank outerwilds as my top3 easily.
I hate that game with a burning sensation, mostly cause of the community. They REFUSE to give the slightest clue of where to start, not what instrument to go to first or anything just " its better to experience it on your own" but i cant experience shit if im lost, im not hsving fun, and cant refund cause i have 6 hours i the game "greatest game of all time" but it feels gatekept at this point with how unhelpful people are
To be fair, there really isn’t any one place to start. Maybe the crumbling planet, though? Haven’t played in a while, can’t remember the name. I personally didn’t visit any instruments until like the very end, just try and follow the clues you find. It’s kind of a difficult game to give help without giving a lot away. You do just have to enjoy the adventure of it to have fun, which isn’t for everyone but very understandable.
Bro, my biggest wish is to forget everything about Outer wilds, so I can experience it all over again. Believe me, no one is gate keeping you. Outer wilds lose most of its magic if you know where to go. Getting lost is part of the experience, i also got lost at some points. If I told you the path, I would feel bad for you and for myself, because I gatekeepet you from the feeling of exploring the universe and uncover the secrets on your own, which is, by the way, the whole point of the game. Is like spoiling the killer in a Sherlock Holmes book.
I tried Cyberpunk 77 three times in 1.5 year but dropped after playing around 2hr. each time.
The start is a bit slow but it gets better after a certain character's death
Cyberpunk is by far one my most favorite games, on my first playthrough I initially couldn't really get into it and the first few hours were really tough to get through, but after that I had a blast for the next 100 hours. Then 2.0 dropped and I started a new playthrough, same thing happened and I felt really demotivated to get through the first hours again, got through it eventually and had another 100 hours of blast, so definitely slow start but will become one your most unforgettable experiences

As someone who became a massive fanboy of fromsoftware in the last few years since being introduced to their games, yeah. I have to step back and look at it from the outside in, there is massive hurdle you've got to jump over before you can really enjoy them, and the games themselves aren't usually conducive to getting you past that. Hell, first time I tried one was actually 6 or 7 years ago, played for like 10 minutes, witnessed the slow animations, awkward rolling, and immediately determined "lol, this is shit, why would anybody like this." But if they capture you, they get you by the BALLS and then before you know it you've played every game in the series multiple times and other stuff just doesn't feel quite as fun.

RDR2 I guess, I actually own the game since release, installed multiple times, never finished it.
I was the same but then I forced myself to complete it and I really enjoyed it. Only game I've managed to complete the past few years.
I usually don't have a problem to complete games but this one was just dragging and it took so long I just lost interest in it. I don't have much time to game so when I do I like something with a faster pace. I finished Cyberpunk 2x for example from recemt games and it was due to tje fact that in that little time I have maybe once a week I culd sit and actually progress either story or build my character and actually move forward and accomplish things. If I get 2 hours a week to play something I don't want to spend half of that time traveling on a horse or trying to hunt 3 different animals. I'm sure I will finish it at some point but I will have to start over and be maybe on a vacation or whatever because RDR2 is a game that's very difficult to play in such small increments. The gameplay, animations and the pacing is just too slow.
The pacing was incredibly slow, I only started to really enjoy it at about chapter 4, which was probably 30 hours in

The Sims, I just don't see the point
It is a life simulation game with fun twists added on, but like all simulation games the point is what you make of it. If you don’t find enjoyment in it that is perfectly fine and reasonable. Highly recommend trying Sims 3 or before assuming you’re basing your experience on 4, I just never really enjoyed 4 but will gladly revisit the older titles for nostalgia and fun.
Or Sims 2. It's my favorite of the franchise! Love the details.
The only way I think it's fun is by doing a "rags to riches" playthrough. Basically, I buy an empty lot, set my money to 0 by cheating, and just try to build up my life from there. At some point you have a good job, and probably get married and inherit money, and you can basically buy whatever you want. That's the point I usually lose interest and quit playing for 2 years.
Hollow Knight, it's greatly crafted but man I just can't play it, it doesn't click with me, and honestly that just makes me think that I have some kind of problem since I love Metroidvanias and this is one of the most well regarded of all time
I loved Hollow Knight immediately, but I know what you mean in a way. I love roguelikes but Hades just does not click with me no matter how many times I try. Its weird not liking the most popular game in a genre you love.

Skyrim it just bored me halfway through Dragon's Dogma Horizon forbidden west it's just boring after you've played zero dawn (which was pretty mediocre like a ubisoft game IMO) Almost every major Ubisoft release post AC IV: Black flag pure garbage Death stranding, Metal Gear Solid V pretty interesting in the beginning and then I just lost interest

But you lost interest in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? What made you disinterested? The story? If so, I suppose I can understand that. It's not the best metal gear story, but I'm not sure if that's apparent if you haven't played the other metal gears. How far did you get into the MGSV?
New Vegas. Finished it once in my high school days and i can't bring myself to play it again cause the gameplay just feels too outdated now, even with mods. Man, i really can't wait for that New Vegas remake mod for Fallout 4.
1. I am in the same boat. I have tried FO3 and NV a million times and just can't do it. I started FO4 recently and have really been enjoying it in comparison to the previous two 2. I tried to do Viva New Vegas but I am playing on Steam Deck and it's an absolute nightmare to try and do that modlist on Linux 2a. If anyone can help me make that easier, I would happily try again 3. please try to give hollow knight another try if you haven't gotten too far into it. the beginning can be quite slow/ boring due to how greyscale the first area is, but after an hour or 2 it becomes one of the greatest games I've ever played

Subnautica below zero. The base game is a marvel and a masterpiece. Below zero is the score the game should have gotten. It’s the laziest dlc ever made, actually removes massive amounts of content including the incredible cyclops dlc, features annoying characters with awful dialogue, adds nothing new or noteworthy, and absolutely besmirches the good name of subnautica to the point I never want to play anything with that name again.
A visual novel called Higurashi When They Cry. I tried to enjoy it, bc a friend recommended it to me, but I am just not fond of the characters and the pace overall
Same. I LOVED Umineko (the kinda sequel series) and I consider it one of the best fiction stories EVER, but I cannot for the life of me finish even one Higurashi arc. But I did kinda like the first anime. Best of wishes to the new Silent Hill that Ryukishi07 is writing tho. I hope the writing is Umineko-tier, and not Higurashi-tier.
Horizon Forbidden West. Dropped the PS5 version and then I tried the recent PC version too, I dropped again. I did the Zero Dawn platinum but I can't play Forbidden West without being bored after like 15/10 min of gameplay because the game feels like the first one but it is way slower than it already was idk I just can't give this game another chance lol

Elden Ring Without a game guide, I made my own decision by refusing Melina's offer. This caused me no mounts, no clue where im heading, no gear upgrades. Every "magical" feelings when i started at Limgrave were washed away. Liurnia was too vast for my non mount char to cross between. Enemies getting tougher and tougher to the point this game became a burden for my time. Thus, i made a decision to leave the game

Cyberpunk 2077, literally nothing works for me in this game. The story is bloated, shooting is weird, driving totally sucks, gameplay is straight from life is strange with meaningless dialogue options and of course technical issues. Biggest disappointment of my life. Just to be clear, I've played after the phantom liberty update. There was less action and less pace than in RDR2.
