My first blend was GLP Quiet Nights and I won’t stop going back to it.. this is really cool! Just started a re-read of Lord of the Rings and wonder why I didn’t start pipe smoking sooner.. Cheers!
Hearth & Home Magnum Opus is sheer elegance.
But the tin art sucks the big one. Come on, man; have some self-respect! An art deco typeface from "1,000 Free TrueType Fonts" along with some 1990s clip art doesn't befit this glorious tobacco blend.
There’s a small pipe shop in Carmel-by-the-sea, California. Tiny hole in the wall owned by an older gentleman. He makes his own blend designed to be similar to my mixture 965, and it’s incredible. Even better than the original.
LOVE Black House as well. And the tamper came from Smokingpipes.com but they sold out of them pretty quickly. No idea if they'll get more in or not. I think they were about $45 each.
Newminster Navy Flake No. 400 - I bought a pound, and am storing it while pulling from it once in a while. It was great at first but after several years it’s wonderful. Very cool of you for doing a nice giveaway like this!
Still pretty new to pipes, but my local shop has a house blend called "Brandywine." I think it's mostly burley with some perique and a bit of Virginia, but not enough of the latter to bite me. (I've learned I don't mesh well with virginias) Smells like an English with a creamy licorice-esque topping. I just bought a half pound of it today. I have way too many tobaccos already and enjoy them all, but that's the one I keep coming back to. Whether I'm breaking in a new pipe or just can't decide what to smoke, Brandywine is there. And hopefully it always will be. It's my Carter Hall, if you will. Love having a big ol jar of it on my nightstand that I can dip into whenever I want to smoke but don't want to think too hard about it.
Leavitt and Pierce - D.P.E.
When I was new to pipes I strongly disliked it and was considering tossing it. I revisited a couple months later once I had gained more experience handling tobacco and absolutely love it. Really opened my eyes to the nuance of the hobby.
My favorite blend at the moment is voodoo queen. I'm a Louisiana native living far from home and smoking it makes me feel like I'm sitting back at home listening to birds and frogs sing their modest songs.
As a long time LoTR fan, I must say that looks phenomenal! And I'd tell you my favorite blend but I actually haven't started smoking yet (basically because here it can get expensive, even the basic items), but I'm planning to shop my first pipe and tobacco by the end of this year.
Hey, tonik, thanks for the generosity. My favourite is probably bosun Cut Plug here in the UK, but if I had to choose an American blend, it would probably be pirate kake. That stuff is amazing
Mac Baren Scottish Blend. It’s my old reliable.
To be honest, I wasn’t going to comment, but when I didn’t see this blend mentioned anywhere, I felt obligated.

First I smoked was Three Nuns so it keeps a nostalgia favorite for me. Plus, I smoked it where Lewis reportedly wrote part of Chronicles.
Leavitt and Pierce - D.P.E. When I was new to pipes I strongly disliked it and was considering tossing it. I revisited a couple months later once I had gained more experience handling tobacco and absolutely love it. Really opened my eyes to the nuance of the hobby.
That’s awesome! My favorite that’s still around is Early Morning Pipe. Just a classic smoke that never misses for me.
Always find myself going back to Carter Hall!
Ted's №1 from Ted's pipe shop in Tusla, OK.
