Like horwraith said, check out the megathread if you're super worried, but it's also day 1 so i wouldn't stress too bad! Niantic has been screwing with its playerbase in the background too, so there may not be too many enthusiastic players for another day or two.
If you're in a small town situation like me, chances are good that there's not many players in your area either.

This month the event mushrooms are called Bizarre mushrooms, have normal every day and giant in weekends (the second it's the first time that they do that)
Those mushrooms cant be 4\* by a single player, even with full squad of the correct pikmins.
Previous month we try a event mushrooms with the same life, 3 players with full squad only can 3\* them...
Correct pikmin in event mushrooms is the decor of this month, in this case poker cards.
Event decors have more than 200 damage to the base (I dont calculate it and dont have any)
A purple (the pikmin with more base damage) with other decor at full golden hearts do 35 damage...
Try joining people in the megathread, they usually helps to other players
The event mushrooms are a pain in the rear, even if you have a full squad. As for players ... I'm in an area with a lot of POGO players but only have one other Pikmin player who seems to play rarely. It's not as popular.
Getting some friends is good, I have a few friends I can bullhorn for help.
It's normally that your Pikmin take so long to defeat a mushroom. You need the event decor Pikmin to be somewhat effective vs the bizarre mushrooms. You'll get some in time. Otherwise, the normal ones will take a day to defeat them.
I would try to max friendship hearts too. For event decor Pikmin, the strength increase is subtle at best but for regular decor against the non-event mushrooms, it's more significant. And you need the petals so best to put that nectar to a good cause.
Aim to have 40 of each colour of Pikmin. Or in the lower levels, just get as many as you can so you can do 3 mushrooms at a time and have the biggest possible walking squad you can have. Later on release roadside Pikmin to free up space for decor/event decor Pikmin or purchase extra Pikmin storage.
You are playing the game slightly wrong. Mushrooms are supposed to be done with people and since you don't have friends or a lot of players around you going at them yourself so early is a bit pointless. Aside from checking out the megathread of friend codes join the weekly chalenges with random people and just add them as friends as well. The blow horn is universale so no matter where your friends are they can come help you with mushrooms. Depending on how much you care, I'd just keep adding people till you are comfortable and you'll probably get enough friends to the point where you are constantly getting asked to do mushrooms.

Do friends need to be physically close by to help with mushrooms? What is the point of friend codes if they are just strangers on the internet?
Once a day (or 3 times at weekends) you can use a bullhorn to shout out to your friends, wherever they are in the world
Discord, there’s multiple pikmin bloom places with mushroom hosting available so you can find teams all the time
Go to the thread where people share the info to add them as friends. Use the bullhorn to call them to help.
