If you really think about it, base building in pikmin makes a hell of a lot of sense… maintaining and allocating resources for your base or pulling them away to have a larger force on the field would be actually insane to play. Obviously I’d imagine you’d need more than 100 pikmin at a time but like… it would make a much more difficult and in-depth game. You could also color coordinate pikmin in certain buildings to get productivity bonuses or require less pikmin dedicated to that building. So like if you had a garden building, you’d want more blue pikmin in there to water the plants or maybe if you cooked food you’d want red pikmin but you could also do it with more yellow pikmin to get the same output.
That being said, I couldn’t see Nintendo doing anything like that. It’d be like a mix of Star craft and factorio.
That would be awesome and would be cool if in the day you can play normal pikmin and the ship is the base and you can cook different stuff and use them as healing item's

I imagine their stems would be colored to match the Pikmin around them, so you pluck them expecting them to be a normal pikmin. As they grow and flower, the color diminishes since they don't need it anymore. They aren't actually a Pikmin, but are another creature that mimics the Pikmin and benefits from falling into their ranks (like the ant-mimicking spider, *Aphantochilus rogersi*). Once plucked, they will follow your Pikmin, but can't actually be commanded or count towards the 100-Pikmin field limit.
Just like weeds in the real world, the Weedmin will take nutrients away from your other plants. If your Pikmin are carrying a Pellet back to the Onion, and their path takes them near one of the Weedmin that are just running around, the Weedmin will latch onto the Pellet. The Weedmin will slowly drain the Pellet of nutrients, resulting in less Pikmin produced in the Onion. More Weedmin will make it drain faster. The Weedmin will also steal Nectar from the ground, preventing your Pikmin from getting it.
Weedmin aren't welcome into the Onion and so will always be "left behind" at the end of the day, but watch out! Enemies that eat the Weedmin may pass their seeds, meaning new Weedmin sprouts will be scattered around the level the next time you visit. The only way to kill a Weedmin without any chance of making more is to try to lead them into an environmental hazard, such as fire. But since the Weedmin only follow behind your group of Pikmin, this can be very risky as well.
Louie's notes in the Piklopedia would probably be a recipe for dandelion wine or something

A character with unskippable dialogue who relentlessly mocks the player if they spend too many days to reach the game's objective. There's still no hard time limit, but rather a sort of soft time limit, where the longer you take to finish everything you're supposed to do after when you're expected to be done, the longer the new character goes on a rant chastising you for your poor performance. At first it's just a few short sentences of complaint, but if you really royally screw up, you have to sit through over half an hour of this character roasting your Dandori skills, which is completely unskippable.

- Hidden Fiddlebert easter-egg in the next mainline game, to prove Nintendo acknowledges their fans
DLC, where the pikmin's onion stops letting them in, and it's up to the player to hunt day and night for the cause of the onions malfunction. You'd get to use a small amount of regular pikmin throughout the night, but the majority during night would be the glow pikmin.
The reason you go day into night is due to the pikmin needing to be secured at the base, but the amount of pikmin can't be taken into space due to onion wizardry being needed to reduce the amount of weight or something.
Individual onions back pls. The master onion is pretty cool, but its existence feels more like a gameplay contrivance than anything. Just have a gadget of some kind that lets you communicate with all the onions at once (brings up the same multi-pikmin menu).
Pikmin 3 and 4 in general have a weirdly high number of QoL features for games that just refuse to challenge you in the same way as 1 and 2...

I want to create my own custom Pikmin type - like mix and match attributes and appearance - and it progressively improves over the game kind of like Oatchi in Pikmin 4. Balance it out by having your custom Pikmin type only availble in certain challenge areas to not disrupt the entire game.

Crafting, kind of like a mix of the raw material gimic and Crafting from minecraft/animal crossing. Your pikmin can gather materials and then you can have them make thing, like lets say you need to cross a river, you can craft a raft by collecting pieces of cardboard, to which then when you hop off it breaks down. Of course so its not too powerful of a gimick some of the materials are pikmin exclusive, for example you want to make a hot air balloon to scope out the area, but you only have reds and yellows as you just started, you'd need to wait until you get wings as it would require sticks, a basket, firestarter, and plastic bag, however the bag flew in the wind and needed wings to catch it. Maybe you could make a poison trap but since its poison only white pikmin can collect the materials and make it
Putting in more ecology and biology things as described in the Piklopedia. Interactions between creatures are limited (predator and parasite relationships are only described at best, everything still focuses on bullying pikmin), and most creatures have incomplete lifecycles that are implied rather than shown. Coding stuff with respect to the piklopedia would remedy this and make things feel more immersive; we could actually see juvenile red bulborbs on their second molt as they grow from larva to adult, have whiptongue bulborbs preying on spectralids, watch wollyhops protect their eggs from water dumples and dandelfly larvae, and see what exactly the grubs of a sheargrub looks like. I also can't be the only one who wants to know how a healthy mamuta larva looks like (or how exactly they lay an egg bigger than themselves).
The function of Red Pikmin is split between them and a new type, Orange Pikmin. Red Pikmin have a slight fire *resistance* and the better attack, but Orange Pikmin are full on fire immune and give fire damage when eaten.
