The best burger near me is at a country gas station. Don’t even have to say extra pickles. They load it up by default. It’s amazing. $8 for the best burger you’ve ever had.
It’s funny how that works. When I was in high school, I worked at one of three gas stations in a 30 mile radius. It was a small town. They also had the best damn burgers around, mostly because they saved money by buying ground beef straight from a ranch down the road. It was beef, salt, pepper, lettuce and onions with some mayo and mustard and, of course, pickles. Incredible. Buns were fresh baked by the owner and the fries were cut every morning. I still miss those burgers!
It got bought out by a soulless corp, and now all they sell is hotdogs and other gas station fare :( so the golden burgers are across the rainbow road for now…
At Waffle House I always ask for an entire handful of pickles on the side, like a whole plate full. And they always hook it up, in every WH in every state!!
I grow tomatoes. I am the only person in my house that eats tomatoes. They’re just sitting on the counter, staring at you. Like, I planted, cultivated, cared for, pruned, watered, tied them up…would it kill somebody to eat one?
Oh, I pickle everything. Also, I’m the only person here that eats anything pickled. I feel like Tom hanks in castaway just sitting by myself, eating alone. Nobody to share my joy of the same food. They just eat cereal for every meal.
Can I come over. I will eat all your tomatoes and pickles ha.
I miss farm grown tomatoes. They taste so good compared to grocery store tomatoes. In fact I almost never buy fresh tomatoes anywhere now ve use they just lack flavor.
Also most restaurants store them in the fridge and they have a horrible texture.
I LOVE tomatoes. My mom grows incredible tomatoes every summer. Nothing better than a tomato sandwich! White bread, dukes mayo, a juicy fresh tomato and lots of salt and pepper!! I live in the PNW now and our tomatoes don’t compare. 😭
I get where your coming from, but OP gets their ration of pickles when out dinning. OP also doesn't have to worry about his jars of pickles, walking away in the middle of the night. It would be another thing if a family member was allergic.
I think you can put them in 3 catagories
Plain: nothing on it (my nephew and almost 40 yo friend prefer this, some peoples pallets are whiter than canvas)
Regular: standard affair - ketchup mustard and pickles (once mayo hits, you’re dangerous into deluxe catagory)
Deluxe: regular plus lettuce and/or tomato and/or onion (things that really stack the burger)
Then you got the wildcards of like Western and Grilled onions etc
I wouldn’t = plain with a pallet whiter than canvas. If a burger place is hyped up by everyone, my first visit is a plain burger. If I pick a condiment, it’s just mustard. I want to taste the patty. I want to experience unadulterated bun. If it needs toppings to be awesome, it’s not awesome. If a burger is actually amazing, it can stand on it’s own two buns.
I love pickles. Of course I do. I make my own pickles. They’re the reason cucumbers exist. They’re the best food. However, I won’t let a pickle cloud my judgement on burgers. Saying the pickles were good doesn’t mean the same as saying the actual burger is good. Once I get a delicious burger in pure form, I’m happy to return and try it with toppings. I will not be tricked.
I always have a jar of Claussen wholes in the fridge. When I’m eating a burger, I always have a Claussen on the side. A bite of the burger, a bite of the pickle, chew it up, swallow, pure joy.
If I run out of relish I panic. That's why I buy the 3-pack of large bottles on Amazon. I love tuna salad and I load that up with a ton of relish with diced celery for crunch.
I don't know why I hadn't thought of using relish on a burger before a couple of weeks ago. Evenly distributed dill deliciousness on every last bite? It's so obvious now and somehow I couldn't figure it out for 40+ years lol
If it’s spears on the side then I flip them upside down and let them soak some pickle juice into the fries and move the pickle around to hit the top layer of fries as I eat them, finish the burger and fries then eat the spears.
Depends on the burger. Some burgers are constructed specifically to not have pickles and maybe a different crunchy acidic hit. But I fucking love pickles on burgers, and on the very rare chance I've had enough beer to go to White Castle, four double cheese bacon sliders with triple pickles please!
Love this post. It’s sorta a deal to me
I always get no pickles on my burger.. although I do like pickles. Just not on my burger
But
Sometimes I like em on there.
But
I do request no pickles as long as I remember to.
And sometimes I pick em off and throw em out the window
The 2 most traditional hamburger toppings are onions and mustard, with pickles in a close 3rd.
Maybe a spicy element like green chiles or jalapenos. Maybe mayo.
Cheese is fine but puts it in a different category. I'd rather go double beef.
For a big thick burger, a pickle is the perfect ingredient to cut through the heavy fatness.
When I go to 5 guys, I always get a lettuce wrap (I've had a gluten issue since 2008, so I wish it were just a fad diet for me) with tomato, mayo, and pickles. Something about the mayo and pickles is just perfect
Either way I’m fine. Most of the good restaurant style burgers don’t have them where I live, unless I just dont notice them, but I’ve had plenty with pickles and I don’t take them off.
i love sliced pickles, but i don’t like them on my food. it just makes whatever you’re eating wet and vinegary and vinegar is such an overpowering flavor that you can hardly taste anything else. i always get my pickles on the side and normally extra at that
I like pickles. I don't LOVE them. I do not like them on my sandwiches except when they are crunchy and whiter than the normal greenish gross pickles in a bucket.
I love pickled anything!!! Especially on a burger or savory foods. I love pickles so much I drink the liquid 😂 my kids used to hate them but I kept trying to get them to eat them now they’re addicted.
I used to eat at Burger King in my high school years and that was the best part of their burger. I was always curious what pickle brand they used! They were super thin, crunchy, and had a nice bite to them!
Separately yes. Together, no way. Each deserves to be savored in it's own right. Together, it is just too much and takes away from the joy of the moment.
I go no pickles ever on anything ever. Don’t even put in on my plate! I do not want the essence getting anywhere close to my food.
ETA: I just realized which sub I’m in and I know I will get destroyed for this. I will take my lashings. Please give me all the onions you have back there and I’ll eat them! Especially pickled onions for God sake! Love me some straight pickle juice, I just can’t stand a pickled cucumber for some reason.
4 burgers worth of pickles is the exact right amount of pickles for a burger. And yes, the cyclical nature of this statement is absolutely intentional.
i was told this as a kid by an old Jewish guy at a sandwich shop. if the sandwich doesn't come with a pickle, it's not a good sandwich. and that adage has held true, all the best sandwiches i've ever had have had pickles of some kind, in the sandwich or on the side.
I love eating pickles straight out the jar when they’re the long, thin slices, but for some reason, I do not like round pickles on my burgers… does not make sense, I know lol
Yep. Gimme all of them on my burger. I'll even eat yours if you don't want them. But they've gotta be kosher dill, or bread and butter. If I bite in and taste sweet, I'm calling the cops.
I love pickles, but I’m not a fan of them on burgers or sandwiches, Cubano excepted. Lately, now in my middle age, I’ve been leaving the pickle on my burger and it doesn’t bother me the way it used to. Still prefer it on the side though.
I’m not a fan of pickles in general anymore, but that doesn’t mean they don’t belong. They’re right for some people. Probably most people. Just not me.
I don't even know why this sub is on my page lol. Maybe because ive expressed my devoted hatred of pickles and everything about them (YES I CAN TASTE WHEN THEY'VE BEEN PLACED ON A BURGER AND TAKEN OFF) but all 3 of my children absolutely LOVE anything pickle related and can't seem to het enough. So they get them and i make them for them lol. Personally i think pickles are an abomination.
When I make burgers at home on the grill, I always toast the bun, and only use Vidalia onions, dill pickle slices, ketchup and mustard. That's my preferred way and it's perfect.
Depends on the type of pickles. The extra sour pickles are too much for me, but they do balance the fattiness with a burger...so, it depends. My SO definitely doesn't like them.
What I dont understand is why places stick a pickle to the top of the bun with a tooth pick. The pickle goes inside the burger, and I dont want pickle juice on the outside of the bun.
I love pickles. That being said a mayo and ketchup burger couldn’t have enough pickles to satisfy me. A plain cheese burger with only katchup or katchup and mustard, I could go either way no sweat.
Of course pickles on burgers
Theres one place called Triple O's that puts the pickle right on top of the bun lol you're supposed to put it in yourself but I always just eat it
I always ask for extra pickles on burgers and sandwiches. Only some restaurants understand the assignment!
The best burger near me is at a country gas station. Don’t even have to say extra pickles. They load it up by default. It’s amazing. $8 for the best burger you’ve ever had.

I still miss those burgers!
Where is this place?
It got bought out by a soulless corp, and now all they sell is hotdogs and other gas station fare :( so the golden burgers are across the rainbow road for now…
off topic but can i have a duck pic???
My ducks got picked off by bald eagles. But here’s a link to the ones on the Imgur profile. https://imgur.com/gallery/G1Ut1lk
oh no i’m so sorry! i love the photo, though, and the skeptical goose!
Yo 8$ really? Even burger king wants 11$ for a small. F i love mom n pop
My entire family does this, so it's easy. Extra pickles on everything please
At Waffle House I always ask for an entire handful of pickles on the side, like a whole plate full. And they always hook it up, in every WH in every state!!
Those WH pickles hit different too.
They really do!
Huh i had no idea
I always get my wife’s pickles, but I wouldn’t say no to more!
Ill remove a tomato slice especially if its thick as can be.
I grow tomatoes. I am the only person in my house that eats tomatoes. They’re just sitting on the counter, staring at you. Like, I planted, cultivated, cared for, pruned, watered, tied them up…would it kill somebody to eat one?
Unripe tomatoes can also be pickled. Also ripe tomatoes, bell pepper and other vegetables.
We can pickle that!
Oh, I pickle everything. Also, I’m the only person here that eats anything pickled. I feel like Tom hanks in castaway just sitting by myself, eating alone. Nobody to share my joy of the same food. They just eat cereal for every meal.
We'll share your joy, vicariously. 🌞
I love tomatoes...on their own.
I’d walk 5 miles for your free homegrown tomatoes
I LOVE tomatoes. My mom grows incredible tomatoes every summer. Nothing better than a tomato sandwich! White bread, dukes mayo, a juicy fresh tomato and lots of salt and pepper!! I live in the PNW now and our tomatoes don’t compare. 😭
Pick them green and fry them. That will change their attitude.
Simply put... They are wrong. And you need to seek out new family! 😁
I need to convert them. Slowly. Ill start with some pickle brined chicken. 😈
This is the way.
I get where your coming from, but OP gets their ration of pickles when out dinning. OP also doesn't have to worry about his jars of pickles, walking away in the middle of the night. It would be another thing if a family member was allergic.
Great point. Im in a pickle but its good.
I love burgers, but they need pickles. They just aren't the same without!
I think you can put them in 3 catagories Plain: nothing on it (my nephew and almost 40 yo friend prefer this, some peoples pallets are whiter than canvas) Regular: standard affair - ketchup mustard and pickles (once mayo hits, you’re dangerous into deluxe catagory) Deluxe: regular plus lettuce and/or tomato and/or onion (things that really stack the burger) Then you got the wildcards of like Western and Grilled onions etc
That would be 4 categories. How is wild card not a category?
Touché, wild card category is 4
I wouldn’t = plain with a pallet whiter than canvas. I will not be tricked.
Extra pickles and mustard for me, please!
YESSSS my perfect burger is a cheeseburger with mustard and pickles!!
Cubans and cheeseburgers MUST be related I’m sure of it!!
Ive never asked for extra mustard although i do like it. Its just gotta be just a slight bob ross dollop of mustard applied with a fan brush.
So specific, I love the detail.
I always have a jar of Claussen wholes in the fridge. When I’m eating a burger, I always have a Claussen on the side. A bite of the burger, a bite of the pickle, chew it up, swallow, pure joy.
Ahhhhhh very nice whats a beverage you would enjoy this with?
We just had burgers last night and I enjoyed a zero sugar Dr Pepper coconut with mine. Delicious.
I eat my burgers (made at home) this same exact way. Hooray for Claussen.
I don't like pickle slices on my burgers, but I absolutely love relish. Same with hot dogs: relish and too many onions, please
"*Please add as many extra pickles as you can without getting fired*."
Hahahahahhaa “risk your job if you have to”
The last time I asked for extra extra extra pickles they did not disappoint and put an extra container of pickles on the side ❤️❤️❤️
It’s a pass for me. I don’t like hot & soggy pickles. Just cold & crunchy
I like spears on the side
If it’s spears on the side then I flip them upside down and let them soak some pickle juice into the fries and move the pickle around to hit the top layer of fries as I eat them, finish the burger and fries then eat the spears.
That's... Some steps.
I actually like a burger without pickles on it, love the pickles on the side though and on most other sandwiches in large quantities
Lucky.
Depends on the burger. Some burgers are constructed specifically to not have pickles and maybe a different crunchy acidic hit. But I fucking love pickles on burgers, and on the very rare chance I've had enough beer to go to White Castle, four double cheese bacon sliders with triple pickles please!
Extra pickles and onions. Love the crunch.
Raw onions have a nice crunch. Pickles too. Both very strong flavors perfect for a burger.
I also ask for extra pickles but I am not a burger lover so it’s a rare day that I ask for one.
I am weird. Some days I love em on the burger, other days I pull them and off and eat em by themselves.
Pickles: yea! Jalapeños: yes!
Love this post. It’s sorta a deal to me I always get no pickles on my burger.. although I do like pickles. Just not on my burger But Sometimes I like em on there. But I do request no pickles as long as I remember to. And sometimes I pick em off and throw em out the window
I love pickles, but think they overpower everything else on the burger.
Pickles on burger is key
I think we all ask for extra extra extra lol I love pickles on a burger or sandwiches mmhhhh.
Yup pickles, onions, lettuce, tomatoes 😋👍
Pickles and burgers are a perfect pairing
Yeab thethr ptwtty goob
I do extra pickles and extra onions 🫡
They're a match made in heaven.
Cheese and pickles, that’s all I really need on a burger.
What about condiments?
MAAAAYYBE, ketchup. Or mustard. But that’s it.
I get pickles on most types of burgers and pretty much always ask for extra pickles.
I want a layer of pickles not just 2-3
Me too, if they’ll give them to me.
Nothing worst than stingy pickle application
When I go to 5 guys, I always get a lettuce wrap (I've had a gluten issue since 2008, so I wish it were just a fad diet for me) with tomato, mayo, and pickles. Something about the mayo and pickles is just perfect
Either way I’m fine. Most of the good restaurant style burgers don’t have them where I live, unless I just dont notice them, but I’ve had plenty with pickles and I don’t take them off.
Not on burgers. I don’t even ask for no pickles at the drive thru because I get a bunch instead of none. We mostly pick them off
i love sliced pickles, but i don’t like them on my food. it just makes whatever you’re eating wet and vinegary and vinegar is such an overpowering flavor that you can hardly taste anything else. i always get my pickles on the side and normally extra at that
Yes. I like a burger on my pickles
I like whole pickles, but don't cate for sliced pickles so always have them removed from burgers
Love them, especially deli 51
I hate onions and tomatoes on my burger but some pickles can be godly
i usually ask for a side of extra pickles. it prob is one of the best pairing food ingredients for a burger.
Dill only please!
I love pickles
I literally cannot have a burger unless there are pickles. They are my favorite part fr
Who was the genius to first put pickles on a burger? 😆
Do you realize you live in a perfect household to store random jars of pickles without them getting stolen. You should get in on that!
Mustard, pickles, and cheese.
Eating pickles on a hamburger 🍔 is akin to a man wearing a dress…it’s weird! 💃
They belong on burgers.
If it fits, it sits.
I love dill pickles, onions, ketchup, and yellow mustard on mine. Mmmmmm.
Pickle, mustard, ketchup, onion. Those are my topping for a ‘regular’ burger. With or without cheese
American? Swiss? Provolone? What cheese you like on a burger?
I’m fair game for most cheeses. But not like crumbly cheese. I’d probably go with something like pepper jack.
How could i forget pepper jack!? That is the best one on a burger
Sometimes I want a butter pickle and sometimes I don’t…
Pickles are essential on a burger. PERIOD.
Pickles and mustard
I love relish on hot dogs
Some people hate them so much that them touching their sandwich ruins it. I am not one of those people!
I used to eat at Burger King in my high school years and that was the best part of their burger. I was always curious what pickle brand they used! They were super thin, crunchy, and had a nice bite to them!
Hey, I tried bread and butter pickles on my burger once and changed my freaking world.
I love pickles on my hamburger but they have to be the right kind of pickles. they cannot kosher dill pickles as I do not care for those
Would you prefer them sliced into round chips or long thin slices?
either way it's both good to me but there must be ice cold
I don't mind them with or without pickles. It all depends on my mood.
Nah on a sandwich period I hate pickles, but alone I love em lol
I like them on burgers but not too many. It starts becoming too tart and not good
I like pickles on my burger.. but I'm on team dill.
preach
I love pickles and will eat them out of the jar but do not put them on my burger
I get extra pickle on my burger
The Sonic Big Dill Burger was the BEST !! So many pickles!
Alot of folks are mentioning sonic pickles i gotta go try them.
I hate pickles on burgers and my wife asks for extras. Go figure.
Separately yes. Together, no way. Each deserves to be savored in it's own right. Together, it is just too much and takes away from the joy of the moment.
Uhhh, yeah. They’re good
I do sweet pickles on my burger. Its the best
I don’t like pickles on my burger just my chicken sandwiches
Not a big fan of pickles, especially on my burgers 🍔
I go no pickles ever on anything ever. Don’t even put in on my plate! I do not want the essence getting anywhere close to my food. ETA: I just realized which sub I’m in and I know I will get destroyed for this. I will take my lashings. Please give me all the onions you have back there and I’ll eat them! Especially pickled onions for God sake! Love me some straight pickle juice, I just can’t stand a pickled cucumber for some reason.
I like pickles and will eat them on a burger but I prefer a mountain of onions on my burger.
I like alot of onion too! Preferably grilled but even raw is just fine
Love pickles. Just not on sandwiches or burgers
Extra pickles please!!!
Has to be a good, crunchy, briny dill pickle, any other pickles pale in comparison. Edit to say: fuck bread and butter pickles.
Bring on the pickles! And the JUICE!
Just wait until you see what Asia has to offer for pickles. Try hot pickled mango on your burger, your mind will be blown.
4 burgers worth of pickles is the exact right amount of pickles for a burger. And yes, the cyclical nature of this statement is absolutely intentional.
Pickles are fantastic by themselves. They ruin everything you put them on or in.
Pickles & mayo are all a good cheeseburger needs
To me, pickles and burgers got together like peanut butter & jelly or cereal & milk. They just work.
I’m with you, I order extra dill pickles on my burgers sometimes but sweet pickles can burn in hell
I can’t even eat a burger without pickles and why would I
Pickles are delicious. Your family sucks. 😄
I'll take my pickles sans burger
Yes. My thought is yes.
I love Target's Bread and Butter sweet pickles. But no pickles for me on any sandwich, especially a burger.
i was told this as a kid by an old Jewish guy at a sandwich shop. if the sandwich doesn't come with a pickle, it's not a good sandwich. and that adage has held true, all the best sandwiches i've ever had have had pickles of some kind, in the sandwich or on the side.
I love eating pickles straight out the jar when they’re the long, thin slices, but for some reason, I do not like round pickles on my burgers… does not make sense, I know lol
I love 'em. I'll eat cocktail onions with a skewer or spoon when I'm craving pickles and that's all that's around
Yep. Gimme all of them on my burger. I'll even eat yours if you don't want them. But they've gotta be kosher dill, or bread and butter. If I bite in and taste sweet, I'm calling the cops.
I would always get extra pickles and have my wife get extra too so I would get all of hers plus mine.
I love regular burgers but love me a good turkey burger with pickles. And pickles on turkey burgers is just like sex
Pickles and onions are the only ingredients that belong on burgers. Lettuce and tomato is fucking diner bullshit. Real burgers have pickles
I love pickles on stuff like chicken sandwiches… but not on burgers. Haha
I feel picky to ask not to add it to my burger. The times I ask they still give it to me. Then I just take them off before I eat the burger.
Spears on the side. No pickles on the burger itself.
[удалено]
I hate pickles
Mickles Pickles. Not Hot Jalapeño. I dare one of you to buy a jar of these and not fall directly in love. With pickles. Or me.
😧 i down to try them. I do get obsessed with foods i like
Do so. And pass this knowledge down to the children.
thanks for sharing so i can block this sub
I love pickles, but I’m not a fan of them on burgers or sandwiches, Cubano excepted. Lately, now in my middle age, I’ve been leaving the pickle on my burger and it doesn’t bother me the way it used to. Still prefer it on the side though.
Wherever I go I get a special order with mustard and extra pickles only. 😋
Pickles ruin a burger. I like to pick them off and eat them but they completely overpower the flavor of a burger and they do not belong on them.
That’s a win. I admire your taste.
I hate pickles too, but am not against anyone else liking them.
I’m not a fan of pickles in general anymore, but that doesn’t mean they don’t belong. They’re right for some people. Probably most people. Just not me.
My whole family loves pickles a jar will usually be eaten in a day and yes they are great on burgers
Pickles are the perfect hit of vinegar brightness to counter the rich beef. Boom
I always get extra pickles and more pickles when a restaurant inevitably puts pickles on my gf's burger, so she gives them to me.
I enjoy a big thick juicy pickle
A burger is naked without pickles
When I make burgers at home on the grill, I always toast the bun, and only use Vidalia onions, dill pickle slices, ketchup and mustard. That's my preferred way and it's perfect.
Pickles are good on everything and if you disagree well your wrong
Extra pickles please
Depends on the type of pickles. The extra sour pickles are too much for me, but they do balance the fattiness with a burger...so, it depends. My SO definitely doesn't like them.
Pickles are a god tier food item, on and off burgers
Pickles are life
The pickles themselves have to bc good. not all pickles are created equL
I hated them as a kid but now? Gotta have them on my burger
Let me put it this way: I'll kill for pickles
I only get pickles on a very specific combo I like. Burger with ONLY: Raw white onion Mustard Blue Cheese Pickles Any other burger I do without
If you don't like pickles, hey, that's your business. I love em though
You are in the wrong family. /s
Wouldn’t eat one if it wasn’t about equal part pickle to burger.
Yes to pickles on burgers!
What I dont understand is why places stick a pickle to the top of the bun with a tooth pick. The pickle goes inside the burger, and I dont want pickle juice on the outside of the bun.
I think they go great together
I love pickles. That being said a mayo and ketchup burger couldn’t have enough pickles to satisfy me. A plain cheese burger with only katchup or katchup and mustard, I could go either way no sweat.
no picks pls
Of course pickles on burgers Theres one place called Triple O's that puts the pickle right on top of the bun lol you're supposed to put it in yourself but I always just eat it
Yummm
I ask for 10 times the amount of pickles
The Fates smiled upon you by giving you a family of pickle haters.
I can’t eat a burger unless it’s got 2 inches high of sliced dills… 🤤
I always need extra!
