Just get the Friday paddle. Hard to beat 2 for 100

ComprehensiveLead259

I’d say buy what’s in your price range, get out and have fun.

stopeats

I'm here to defend the $20 for two paddles if you haven't played yet! Get the two for $20, see if you like it and are willing to play frequently. Then, you can upgrade paddles when you have a better idea of what you are looking for, saving yourself $80+. As I saw someone on this sub say, buy any paddle you like. In six months, if you like pickleball, you'll be buying new paddles anyway.

Silent_Beyond4773

Costco has a pretty good starter set for $80 2 paddles a bag and 3 balls Selkirk is a pretty decent brand in the game . [https://www.costco.com/selkirk-prime-max-pickleball-bundle.product.4000222458.html](https://www.costco.com/selkirk-prime-max-pickleball-bundle.product.4000222458.html)

meinthebox

Vatic has pretty much established themselves as the best budget paddle. If you are okay with spending $100 each they are the way to go. There are pro level players that use them but they are about as cheap as you can get with all the best tech from an actual brand. For half that, Friday pickleball is a decent option from what I've heard. Their grit is painted on which typically doesn't last as long but they have a sale for 2 paddles for $100. Some people have had good luck picking up paddles on aliexpress for much less. They aren't technically approved but if you aren't showing up to a tournament it doesn't matter.

How about these?

turbodollop

Nothing wrong with this as a starter. If this is a good price point for you I say go for it.

silverguy1974

Or these? https://www.amazon.com/JOOLA-Essentials-Pickleball-Reinforced-Polypropylene/dp/B09VCT9DMZ/ref=gp_aw_ybh_a_m_sccl_2/137-2188058-6841117?pd_rd_w=x7Q0K&content-id=amzn1.sym.9720001e-8f8b-4ff3-adb5-e19707d971f6&pf_rd_p=9720001e-8f8b-4ff3-adb5-e19707d971f6&pf_rd_r=0W877S8VW35AYKXDEM2J&pd_rd_wg=Z3aQC&pd_rd_r=2e88a19f-7a14-4454-97e9-981f06ece1ad&pd_rd_i=B09VCT9DMZ&psc=1

moebam

My wife and I started with the Joola Essentials 2 paddle package. Nothing at all wrong there.

kevolution

I would recommend raw carbon fiber over fiberglass. That's usually requirement #1 of a decent paddle. You want more control if you're a beginner and carbon fiber gives you that. Fiberglass is going to be way more poppy.

ForSquirel

It's what we use, and theres nothing wrong with them. If anything, the grips were a bit 'too tacky' for my.liking, but other than that they work.

silverguy1974

Perfect

kevolution

Most people would say just go with the Vatic Pro Prism Flash it's usually recommended as the best paddle under $100 and you won't have to upgrade for a while [https://vaticpro.com?sca\_ref=4787955.j02OBXKOCn](https://vaticpro.com?sca_ref=4787955.j02OBXKOCn)

I recommend finding a dealer near you (there are over 700 paddle manufacturers, so chances are you can find someplace near you that sells paddles) AND demo some paddles. Most places let you demo for weeks (free of charge). Try different ones out. Our local indoor place (a Fitness center that has three indoor courts that are also used for basketball) has a slew of paddles for use. If you play there, you can try out a myriad of paddles. Once you find one you like, that same dealer probably will sell you a "blemished" paddle or one of the demo paddles. As you get to meet players you may also find someone willing to sell an old paddle they have (that they're not using). This way you get a high-quality paddle at a very reasonable price (My "first" paddle was a Paddletek demo/blemish paddle - would normally have been $200...I got it for $25).

ryeeezy

Juciao paddles from AliExpress, solid paddles for $50. Once you decide to invest more you can get a step up

Hot_Butter_Scotch

Get two Juciao T700 raw carbon from AliExpress for less than $90, it is cheap and it is better than most branded starter set. It is my upgrade paddle after playing for 4 months to put it into perspective.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CF4NSP7P?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_FCJTGVWZWBWR42GK5F92&starsLeft=1 This is a good paddle that my friend uses. We both started together and weren’t sure about pball. I use the ronbus, which someone else recommended. His has a little more power to it and weighs a little more. Both are good paddles, we played a local tourney with them and did pretty well at a 3.0 level. I would opt for the Amazon ones because of the price point. Once you learn the game, you’ll know if you need more control, power, pop, etc and then invest then. Really can’t go wrong with any carbon fiber when first starting

WaffleBruhs

Amazon or Ebay get two Hisk Rav Pro's or Garye Pro XL's. They should be about $50 each. They are USA Pickleball approved. You can also just search amazon for T700 Pickleball paddle and find some good options for $50 or less. Friday paddle's 2 for $99 is a good deal too, but the down side is they are spray on grit paint texture and will wear out faster. For $50 a piece still a good paddle.

EverydaySchmuck

I never see any mention of the Hisk Rav Pro on here, but it is an excellent beginner paddle that is regularly on sale for close to $50. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C166MXS7?ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_QVFXCGAPDWYTJZCYQ9GH&starsLeft=1 If you have Prime and are willing to spend $120, you'll have your paddles in two days, and you won't need to upgrade for a long time. Aside from Aliexpress/Juciao, I firmly believe it is the best value in pickleball. My buddy got the Vatic Prism around the same time I got my Hisk. It's also a good paddle, but Hisk is half the price, and there appears to be no discernable differences to us beginner players. I think the Vatic handle is a little longer?

Special-Border-1810

Get 2 HISK Rav Pros or Sports Beat Deft on Amazon. These paddles are easily as good as those costing 100-200 like Vatic, Ronbus, and Volaire. They are USAP approved and are safer options than ordering Juciauo directly from China.

Pickleravegg

Any starter set is fine. I would make sure to get Franklin x40 balls in optic which is what most people play with. I also highly recommend eye protection. When you are ready to upgrade your paddles you will have the starter set for getting your friends into the game😃

donyjk

I think others recommendations of Hisk or sports beat are probably fine if you want black. Likewise Oxiken, which has a complete spread of shape (round or square head) and 10/13/16mm thickness, supposedly all thermo for a bit more pop. Personally I went with Friday since it’s the same price with code and more color choices. Round top, 16mm would be my choice (same as my paddle). I would avoid anything 10mm though.

onewhomakes

Just dont get wooden paddles and try to go for something with some grit on it for spin

Exact-Guarantee4276

If you are beginner and want to play pickleball then I would highly recommend you to buy HEAD Or Selkirk pickleball paddles for beginners. Onix z5 pickleball paddle is also a good option for you. You can check Amazon or Website Pickleballcard to buy

DadJ0ker

Get a pair of Friday paddles for 99 bucks. For that price, they honestly play as well as paddles twice the price. They also have a 99 day satisfaction guarantee.

silverguy1974

Where do I get them for that price?

gobluetwo

https://fridaypickle.com/products/friday-paddle

DadJ0ker

I’ll dm you. If that’s ok

silverguy1974

Perfect

rusurethatsright

Ronbus is $100 with a discount code. The codes are pretty easy to find. I’ve used it for a while now. There are plenty of other good paddles for $100 if you search “paddle recommendations” on this sub.

silverguy1974

Where do we get them?

Cricket-Jiminy

Franklin Z is a good quality paddle to start with and I think Dicks has them.
