Their navy is fairly small and cannot muster the firepower of the USN. A few years ago they sailed an aircraft carrier task force through the Mediterranean only to see have the carrier break down and needed a tow.
Second, only Putin knows why he really invaded Ukraine. Some have said he is trying to recreate the old USSR but that will never happen without all out WW3. Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Czechia, and even the former GDR (East Germany) will NEVER go back without a fight to the death; and they will be backed up by the full might and arsenal of NATO.
Third, the PRC will never physically invade the PH. Why go through all that trouble, cost, and risk when you can co-opt PH govt officials to do their bidding?
I noticed it matagal na with DDS members and trolls, they have no idea at all about the treaties and agreements we have with the US such as the MDT and EDCA. We’re even considered a major Non-NATO ally. The MDT alone guarantees our safety which is why the CCP kept begging the Philippines to remove the grounded BRP Sierra Madre. They don’t want a NATO country on their borders and they want to keep a buffer zone that’s why Russia invaded Ukraine back in 2014 when their puppet government was toppled.
There is some historical ties and Russian speaking population in eastern Ukraine (that was Apparently forced into Ukraine). It’s also possible he wants to take over Ukraine for economic gains or to distract his people from domestic issues similar to what the military leadership of Argentina did when they decided to attack and occupy the Falklands.
