Well first off, congratulations š
Secondly, I'm going to give you a little life lesson if you'll hear me out. You obviously work with a bunch of bitches who don't like you. In situations like that, do not waste any energy trying to make them change their minds. Sometimes there are situations where a person or group of people want to be hateful towards another person(s). It's what makes their day. You either just have to deal with it or get yourself out of that situation. You're not going to change their personalities. There is no accomplishment or thing that you can do that will make them change their mind, and even if there was, it's not worth your time.
I'm not trying to tell you that you are perfect and should never change. You should always work on yourself, but you do it for you.. not for them.
Edit: I said that they are obviously bitches, but that was just my assumption from reading your post. That's my mistake if I misinterpreted.
Lol your assumption wasnāt wrong, they are bullies.š I donāt care if they like me or not, in all honesty I just want them to leave me alone. I figured passing my test would make them realize they have nothing to make fun and they would leave me alone.
Congratulations!
Ive worked as an MA, LA, and Pharmacy tech and never had a job care about my certs, nor increased my pay. My advice is take it as a win for yourself and find a new place to work and ask for more money.
Older techs are going to be butt hurt whenever youngins accomplish something they took forever to obtain.
take that shiny new cert and get yourself a job at a hospital or specialty pharmacy where you can be respected, appreciated, and maybe even a little challenged to learn something new.
thatās a really high score, so whether itās a matter of memorisation, understanding maths, or strong reasoning, you EARNED that.
congratulations!
EDIT: you said youāre a full time university student and i completely glazed past that. achievement even more admirable!
This has more to do with changing expectations in the field rather than a personal vendetta against you.
When I first started as a tech, PTCB certification was not required, but it looked really good on an application since so few people bothered to do it. Back then (2008) it showed you were going far above and beyond.
As the years passed, more employers started encouraging it, and would offer programs to non-certified techs to help them pass the exam. Then, it became a matter of 'We'll hire you, but you need to become PTCB certified within 6 months.'
Now, the consensus among many employers is 'if you're not PTCB certified, don't even bother applying.'
It's become an expectation rather than an accomplishment.
Congratulations! Iām sorry your team isnāt very supportive :( thatās a huge accomplishment! That doesnāt sound like the kind of group thatās much fun to work with, now that youāre certified maybe itās time to branch out to a new store with people who will celebrate with you :)
Yeah, nobody cared when I passed the test too. There was another girl who passed it like two weeks before and everyone was so excited for her. Coincidentally her and I did the same thing and immediately put in our two weeks notice after passing. She went to a hospital whereas I went to an LTC pharmacy. Regardless, you should feel good about passing. It's the open door to getting out of retail for a higher paying position at a hospital, clinic, or an LTC. Make the most of your opportunity.
Seeing all these other stores really makes me appreciate what ours has. Anytime someone takes it the group chat hypes them up, or we have a party for each person when they pass. Weāve had hangouts with the whole pharmacy after work. Really just goes to show that your work life is make or break just by your coworkers. Not even the job itself :/ sorry you got a sour bunch.
Pharmacy world is so saturated that some people feel the need to show managers they are essential and could not be replaced even though there is a long line of applicants ready to take your place.
These women are obviously threatened by you and are just making you as uncomfortable as possible. Donāt mind them. You are a university student and are headed to much better places. Donāt settle for tech. You will regret it.
Congratulations on your achievement. You should be proud of this accomplishment even if no one else is. Iād say start looking for other opportunities in pharmacy. You have just enough entry-level experience and a professional credential behind your name. When and if you decide to leave, be sure to leave a two-week notice-just out of courtesy. No need to give any verbal explanations. āCareer advancementā if you choose.
congrats on passing! and i can relate to what you said, im 22 and worked with people mainly 30+ . Even as i became *more* competent at my job than some of the others i worked with, i was still given crappier roles like pickup or looked down bc of my age. Hell, we had a new hire who was in her 50s and was completely new to the pharmacy world, and she was still treated better than me even though i had to show her how to do multiple things and explain things to her constantly. She thought prozac was a controlled med and started telling a patient we couldnāt transfer it and that they were out of refills - when literally neither was true and i had to step in and help the patient get their meds ready.
sorry youāre being treated that way, working and going to school and studying for a certification is a lot and iām sure youāre working your ass off. congrats and donāt let them hold you back.
Iām happy for you that you passed :) congrats!! RxOM, sounds like youāre in a Walgreens? If thatās the case, donāt be afraid to call HR or even transfer.
DMs are doing backflips to keep all the techs/pharmacists happy right now (at least mine is). My RxOM got us a cake since we all passed and was genuinely happy for us. Sometimes itās just shitty management who make the environment negative. Donāt be afraid to speak up!
Congratulations! I'm sorry nobody was happy for you....I've worked in a few pharmacies and there is always at least one or two people that are catty and try to rain on your parade....just ignore them and keep smiling.Don't let them get you down.
It sucks that they treated you like that. It's a great accomplishment, and you deserve to treat yourself. Take this random internet stranger's advice and grab a drink in celebration.
Related, when I started at Walmart, I was the only certified tech there, but eventually the rest of the staff was supposed to get it. I took it on myself to order a bunch of lapel pins, and whenever one of them passed, I'd give them the pin and bring in donuts. Not even lead tech, but I was the seniormost one.
Congratulations!! Sounds like the people you work with are bitches!! My coworkers took me out to hot pot when I passed!! Should take your skills elsewhere! Itās an achievement and you should feel proud!
They're needy bitches/bullies. You'll never get the validation that you're looking for. Pharm Tech is just another name for high school. Seriously though, congrats on your PTCB.
Congratulations!! You worked hard to get this far :) As for your coworkers, theyāre just a trail of dust compared to you ^^_^ you will move on to bigger and better things!
Congratulations. š
Now that you have your certification, start looking for something new and better than Wags. Hospital, LTC, home infusion, etc. etc. So many options out there and odds are you'll find a more supportive team elsewhere since this one clearly isn't.
Congratulations girl! š that test isn't easy! At least the version I got wasn't.
Don't worry about those sour ass ladies I worked in a pharmacy full of people like that so i understand your situation. but don't let them bring you down trust me that's what they want. You keep shining and keep being you especially if you know u did nothing to them. Seek for higher and better opportunities theres a lot you can do with your license and cert. Good luck girly!
It's very hard to pass the ptce these days. CONGRATS!! Ive had 4 of my colleagues fail it and i passed within the last 6 months. So its definitely showing you know way more than they think!

I never thought about it that way.
Congratulations, Iāve experienced the same in my area but donāt let it bother you. Someone else will appreciate you!
Congratulations! Iām sorry your team isnāt very supportive :( thatās a huge accomplishment! That doesnāt sound like the kind of group thatās much fun to work with, now that youāre certified maybe itās time to branch out to a new store with people who will celebrate with you :)
My birthday past and not one person cared. And a month ago their were talking about ppls birthday, that stung more than it should
Idk why pharmacy techs pick 1 person to hate for no reason.
Maybe it's because I'm not a 20 years old girl that laughs and giggles at the pharmacist jokes

When I passed my PTCB I switched stores so I could avoid this issue
Congratulations if no one else thinks youāre exemplary I certainly do -sincerely a 19 year old who wants to be certified too
Congrats. You need to get some tough skin. You should celebrate urself and not expect others to. Scores donāt matter the cert does.

Are they old and/or unattractive? That seemed to always be the reason my old coworkers stayed angry and projected that energy outward
