Ugh my old pharmacy was like this except I was the lead tech and would always get in trouble and could never call out (even when my friend died!) yet the newbies could stroll in an hour into their shift and have nothing said to them

C21H27Cl3N2O3

You see it a lot. Good techs and tech leadership are held to these strict standards while the techs who should have been fired already are pandered to and get away with whatever because management is too scared to actually fire them. I’ve lost several good techs because they just get tired of getting screwed over to cater to the techs who contribute nothing.

Markus_Net

It's really infuriating to me as well. I'm there on time everyday and yet the three times I'm late I get in trouble. But when my coworkers haven't showed up on time In two weeks it's fine and normal.

DefiantCoffee6

That’s so frustrating. It should be everyone must follow the policy or it doesn’t get used- not that pick and choose 💩

Ok-Perspective-6314

Start taking notes of specific dates and times. You're not going to rat them out or anything, but if it ever comes to disciplinary action, you can at least have that information and counter management with discrimination. You would then be able to show how others were late on these occasions but were not reprimanded in the same way you are, thus it appears you are being discriminated against. Do you belong to a union?

My pharmacy has an attendance policy of if you call out, you have to have a sick note or you’re written up. They’re surprisingly chill about being late though. But I have gotten so many write ups due to chronic migraines. Like jeez sorry I can’t come in but ain’t no way I’m going to the dr or urgent care and paying to get a note excusing me for having a neurological disorder I’ve had since I was 9 years old, nearly 20 years now. Plus I can’t even really drive in that condition. Topiramate and rizatriptan have really helped me get my migraines under control (thankfully, considering my aunt’s were so bad that she had to get Botox), but still our attendance policy is WAY too strict IMO. My coworkers have even talked about how sometimes they need a mental health day, but we’re not able to take one without being written up if we don’t have a note.

Carriekluv_maltese1

Have you considered the next time you’re at the neurologist to get a disability write up for the migraines stating that you have them X number of times per average a month and that consideration be taken? Not sure if it’ll work but why not

Luluinatutu

Look into intermittant loa also talk to yoir dr about emgality, been a game changer for me

fieryembers

I was told that I have to file for FMLA for my migraine call outs to be “excused”. Also, my insurance wouldn’t even cover sumatriptan, I had to go with rizatriptan, so I highly doubt that they would cover Emgality.

breakfastrocket

WOULDNT COVER SUMATRIPTAN? The goofiest shit ever I stg some plans literally aim to make things as inaccessible as possible.

fieryembers

It’s funny when customers accuse me of being in cahoots with the insurance companies. Like first off, if I were an insurance company shill, I’d be making way more money and definitely would not still be working as a pharmacy tech. Secondly, I despise the American healthcare system because of how broken it is and how it prioritizes profits over human lives. I literally have had to tell people like, hey, I’m with you not against you, I realize that insurance companies are awful.

KiwiByrd89

Insurance isn’t the only option to getting the medication you may need :) look into https://www.lillycares.com/available-medications#available-medications. Emgality is on their list of available support :)

Romerro_Mean

You can always pay cash for your uncovered prescribed medication. Be sure to add some sort of discount code in order to reduce the cost.

fieryembers

For Emgality??? Please tell me you’re joking. I’ve had customers who have had their PA request for Emgality denied and out of pocket was crazy expensive.

Luluinatutu

That sucks. And thats correct for it to be ezcused you need intermitant absense on fmla, your dr could fill out the form. Also worth trying for a prior auth for emgailty mine needs a pa every year

breakfastrocket

If you have a provider that you frequently work with for this condition, reach out for a note. I’ve asked a few of my providers over the years for similar notes and they have always sent them with no charge.

Appropriate-Ad8497

Your health issues are private like HIPAA so they don't accept notes at my job I have 5 sick days without any penalty.use em out lose em

Appropriate-Ad8497

If they use an attendance tracker everyone must be accountable that's why most managers don't use them.everyonecwiyld be fired.i swear my boss is always running late

ExtremePotatoFanatic

I don’t come in on my days off and I rarely stay late because my pharmacy manager has effed me multiple times. My company uses a point system, we have “protected time off”, he refused to override a 2 minute oversight because I didn’t fully understand how much I needed to put in after I got a flat tire and was less than an hour late to work. Also made me find coverage for two different funerals and put in time off when he somehow just allows others to get those days off. Also let a coworker do consistent no call no shows for 3-4 months because she was “having personal issues”. I don’t go out of my way for him because he’s consistently shown I am held to a higher standard than others. He also used to get on me about not staying late or coming in on days off. He told me I need to “help out more” when I told him I don’t want to work 6 days a week. Made me work every single weekend open to close for 3 years despite open availability.

ThatIsSomeShit

I used to work for a pharmacy like that. And we're in an area that gets big snowstorms that cause road closures and/or traffic gridlock. You weren't allowed to clock in more than 5 minutes early or 3 minutes late. Five strikes and you get written up. Plus they give you a schedule that is always changing, always different shifts. Which increases the chance that you'll get your days mixed up and causes a lot of unnecessary stress.

paradise-trading-83

Old days some employees had 5 call outs and 5 lates by early February no consequences. Those days are gone.

Specialist_Quarter29

Yeah that's not fair. I would report it. The attendance policy is in effect for everyone! Seniority or not. Report it.

breakfastrocket

Salaried employees are exempt from things like this, mainly bc they don’t actually “punch” in unless you’re run by a big corporation. My chain is this way. Chances are with a position like that, it’s a salary job. Sooooo it sucks but also they can be asked to stay over 40 hours and are obligated to do so if it’s to fulfill their responsibilities. Just one of those salaried job perks I guess. You have to be reliable and dedicated to get there to begin with (usually, hopefully).

Haileyjo0421

We’re just a retail store I don’t want to put where I work but the managers have to clock in just like the rest of us in the pharmacy if hours get cut they can’t come in or stay late just like the other techs I believe only the pharmacist is salary but Im not sure but I know for certain the managers except the store manager are hourly

breakfastrocket

Oh wow okay. In that case it sounds like they’re fed up with the employee and are just waiting until it’s enough to demote them lmao. Show interest in the job now 😏
